November 9, 2010 Cindy 3
Elka Suspension, a long time manufacturer of performance ATV products has recently turned their sights onto the Jeep JK Wrangler and, with the help of TeraFlex, has developed a high quality reservoir shock made specifically for it. And, after running them for a few months now, here’s what I can tell you about them.

Roktoberfest 2010 : The Ultimate Party in the Desert

October 27, 2010 wayoflife 10

Roktoberfest is a mega party out in the desert that Project-JK.com puts on once a year during the month of October and out in the Cougar Buttes area of Johnson Valley. Those who come to the party spend their day rock crawling on Jeep trails such as Bullfrog and Cakewalk and then celebrate Oktoberfest well into the night at the Trashed Pumpkin Saloon.

Jeep JK Wrangler Coast Front 1310
Drive Shaft Installation Write-Up

October 20, 2010 Cindy 29
In addition to things like taller coils, longer shocks and adjustable control arms and track bars, a new 1310 or 1350 double cardin U-Joint style front drive shaft is something that you really should have in your list of needed parts if you plan on lifting your Jeep JK Wrangler 3" or more and you have an automatic transmission. While the factory front drive shaft isn’t all that bad, its diameter is very wide and at 3" of lift or more, it will get hung up on the automatic transmission skid plate (limiting your droop) and its spline shaft boot will catch on the lip of your transmission sump pan causing it to tear.

Full-Traction JK Long Arm Suspension Systems
Available in 3.0″, 4.0″ & 6.0″

October 12, 2010 wayoflife 2

Our competition hates this system, but your Jeep JK Wrangler will love it. Our new 3″- 4″- 6″ long arm systems are sold as a complete replacement suspension. Able to handle tires up to 37″ tall, it utilizes a 4-link front axle mounting configuration for a true and correct caster curve, and improved anti-dive geometry throughout the entire range of linear wheel travel – just like the factory does it. Other systems using radius arms, medium length arms called “long arms” and the rest, can’t match its performance.

RUBICON : A Legendary Jeep Trail
& Off-Road Adventure – COMPLETE VIDEO SERIES

October 3, 2010 wayoflife 28

Crossing through the El Dorado National Forest up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Rubicon is truly one of the most beautiful trails I’ve been on bar none. Of course, its unrelenting 22 miles of boulders that need to be crawled, steep ledges that need to be climbed, narrow trees that need to be squeezed between, deep muddy water crossings that need to be forded and tippy off camber terrain that needs to be carefully negotiated is ultimately what makes the Rubicon Trail so legendary and famous around the world.

I can’t count how many times we’ve come off the trail and heard someone on the CB yell out that they’ve got death wobble. After pulling over and giving things a quick look to make sure nothing is broken, I have the driver help me perform this simple test.

Falken Wild Peak AT – They Get You Going!
By Discount Tire

September 17, 2010 wayoflife 6

Many of you have been asking about Falken’s new AT. How good are they? How strong are their sidewalls? How do they rate in sand, dirt, gravel, rocks, mud, and on the highway? After abusing this tire for over 1000 off-road miles at the Jk-Experience last week, here’s what I can show and tell from my first hand experience.

TeraFlex MONSTER Jeep JK Wrangler
Rear Track Bar Installation Write-Up

September 13, 2010 Cindy 10
Installing a lift of any height on your Jeep JK Wrangler will cause your axles to shift from center. Up front, your axle will shift over to the driver side and in the rear, it will shift over to the passenger side. This shift occurs because your factory track bars are fixed in their length and are attached to only one side of your Jeep’s frame rails and to the axle on the opposite side. As your Jeep goes up, your axles will get pulled to the side of where your track bar is mounted on the frame.

Hanson Stubby Front Stinger Bumper Installation Write-Up

September 9, 2010 Cindy 3
When it comes to heavy duty steel formed bumpers, few companies have the history of excellence and reputation of quality that Hanson Offroad enjoys today. Made entirely here in the USA, you can be sure that all Hanson bumpers are crafted with care and are ready to take just about any punishment you can subject it to. Of course, when I heard that Hanson had released a brand new stubby front bumper with a stinger for the JK, I knew that it was something I had to see it. And, once I did, I knew right then and there that it was the bumper that was going to go on our Sunburst Orange JK.
