FLASH: ESP System May Prematurely Activate Momentarily When Negotiating A Curve
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module with new software.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to 4×2 Wranglers built on or before November 08, 2006 (MDH 1108XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a premature and momentary activation of the Electronic
Stability Program (ESP) system. The premature activation of the ESP system will be
accompanied with the illumination of the ESP indicator lamp located in the instrument
cluster. The customer will experience the momentary ESP system activation typically on a
“clover leaf type turn, at speeds of approximately 40 to 64 Km/h (25 to 40 mph).
it determines the location of the steering wheel

I hope they will fix it as soon as possible, so you could help me and my new dealer (I’ve just changed another…). Let me know by email: xxx@pobox.com —> xxx=topao
A mini van? Terrible…. Worse than in Italy.
@CD…
Next Wednesday I have an appointment with dealer and Jeep technician in order to examine my vehicle. Have you some news about you?
Marco I wish I had some good news for you, but I dont my jeep is still in the shop and the technician said they dont know what is wrong with it or how to fix it which is scary because didn’t thier company build it

TSB – Electronic Stability Control Disable Feature For Modified 4WD Vehicles
January 18th, 2008
this is it marco i dont know if it will work but at this point i will try about anything
Oh! My car is yet to dealer! No news about it.
I want to see immediately your new about tsb.
Yes, maybe a solution! I call my dealer as soon as possible.
I’ve called dealer. No errors, no problems, nothing in their tests with my Jk. All is right!
(!!!)
For them!!!
They don’t want change firmware with the new TSB – Electronic Stability Control Disable Feature For Modified 4WD Vehicles
January 18th, 2008.
I haven’t any words!!!
Marco any luck my jeep is still at the dealership
For the lifted vehicles having this problem, check the following TSB:

In case ANYBODY else is still reading this site, I purchased a used “07 Sahara, 4X4, NO LIFT, factory 18in wheels, and I came close to crashing my Jeep three times because of this problem. It has been to the dealer three times for the same problem, and they have no CLUE as to what to do next. It is a SCARY thing when it happens, because the whole vehicle SHUDDERS. I have noticed though, that after they reprogram the ABS module, it will be okay for a while, then the breaks start to “pop” when depressed lightly. I also notice a sort of a “click” in the steering column. As soon as I notice these things, within a few miles, while hitting a cloverleaf turn, the shudder is back.
Anybody else here still having the problem?
Thanks
have you taking your jeep off roading? if so, is there a chance that your tie-rod is bent a tad. this is not uncommon to happen. also, is your steering wheel centered? if not, that will cause your esp to go off. last but not least, how much air are you running in your tires? if you have more than 32psi, you have too much and i would lower it.
I have an 2007 JK with 3.5″ Skyjacker Suspension and 34″ Super Swamper Special Service Tires. With the traction control (ESP) On it’s a death trap, especially if your alignment is off at all. Why can’t people drive without all this extra crap, what ever happened to 4 wheels and an Engine!!
I have a 2009 JK that I lifted skyjacker 4″ with 20″ wheels and 35″ tires and I am getting the ESP activation on clover leaf turns and luck with the fix yet?
how much air are you running in your tires? if you have more than 28psi, you have too much. also, did your kit come with adjustable control arms? if so, you need to set your caster a bit higher as that will help.
JerseyJeepgurl, I’ve the same problems as you!!! Jeep has changed my steering group but nothing is changed. Customer Service doesn’t know how to resolve all these problems! I’m afraid, I want to sell this orrible jeep… Maybe I’ll change the wheels…
Just a news! Today with the Jeep chef support we have looking for a new type of tired. In the next, Jeep’ll use for Wrangler the new 275/60R18 instead of the worst 255/70r18 (maybe Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather). Finally and maybe the solution for our problem with r18. More stability, less “acquaplaning”, less ESP impact!

FYI – as Way o life indicates….lifted JK’s …look into proper caster – after a lift caster is affected. Even with straightened(corrected)out steering wheel …the caster throws the sensors out a bit while cornering.
Wonderful! The new tires are fantastic! No more ESP problems and much more stability on bend. Finally Jeep maybe have found the solution!
My 07 jeep jk wrangler
is doing the same thing. i call chrysler and they wont awnser because its always busy.
all the other dealer wont do anything other than the flash and that doesnt help anything
I disconnected a rear wheel wires by pulling little orange tab out of the connector then pulled off connector, problem solved ,ESP was disabled Praise God
