I have to say that I’ve always been a big fan of steel tube fenders on a Jeep. While they may not offer much in the way of protecting the side of your Jeep from mud spray the way a set of Bushwacker pocket-style fenders might, they are extremely functional on the trail and when done right, look a hell of a lot better in my opinion too. However, with the new curved body lines that the Jeep JK Wrangler has designed into it, I had feared they might prove to be too much of a manufacturing challenge and doubted that anything significant could be produced other than the custom shop one-offs every here and there. But, after talking to the guys over at Rev111, I think those fears have effectively been put to rest.
According to Rev111, they have already designed, developed and built a set of front and rear tubular steel fenders (also known as their MetalCloak Body Armor) that come complete with removable flares. With the fenders installed, they have effectively tested them on their stock height, 2-Door Jeep JK Wrangler Rubicon that was sitting on a set of 305/70R17’s mounted on the factory wheels and 1.5″ wheel spacers. And, based on their initial tests, they’re convinced that they would be able to clear up to 35″ tires with spacers and without having to do any trimming. With a little trimming and a 2″ spacer lift, they’re thinking even bigger – can you say 37’s?!! Well, believe it or not, they’re doing tests on this exact setup now.
Be sure to check out the Rev111 MetalCloak Body Armor steel tube fenders on Spike TV’s Xtreme 4x4 which will be airing in March. Until then, click on the link below to see a few sneak peeks:

Hey Tshuelsman, from what I am told, they are no longer going to be making these fenders and they may even be going out of business.
