Off Road Evolution JK LinXLok Jam Nuts

If you’ve got a lifted Jeep JK Wrangler with a set of adjustable lower control arms, you know how hard it can be to keep the jam nuts on tight and in place.  Thanks to its size, finding a wrench large enough to fit around them can be difficult and with things like your control arm mounts in the way, this can be almost impossible to do especially when you’re on the ground and on your back and with very little room to work with.  Fortunately for us, Off Road Evolution has just released an incredible patent pending solution to this annoying problem and it is the all new EVO LinXLok.

Manufactured out of alloy steel and zinc plated, the EVO LinXLok is designed to utilize a pinch bolt as well as 4 set screws that are angled inward to bite into any aftermarket adjustable lower control arm using a standard 1-1/4″ – 12 threaded joint.  With the final addition of a rubber O-Ring that helps to keep water and debris out of the control arm, the LinXLok is simply installed onto your control arm joints in place of your existing jam nuts.  After setting your control arms to the desired length you need, all you need to do is hand tighten the LinXLok, secure the pinch bolts and fasten the set screws and you’re pretty much good to go.  No additional tightening of the LinXLok is required and initial tests have shown that with just this minimal amount of tightening alone, an impressive 125 ft. lbs. of torque or more would be required to loosen up the nuts.  Needless to say, with a set of the EVO LinXLok on your adjustable lower control arms, you can pretty much install them and forget about them.

  1. I did not realize these coming loose were a problem?

Haven’t seen any posts on the forum about anyone having any issues?

  2. Yeah, I’ve had this problem. After trying to just tighten them a couple of times and having them come loose, I’ve recently shot them with some red Loctite and torqued them down on the bench. If (when) they come loose again, I’ll be calling EVO to get a set of these, for sure.

By the way, when they first came loose, I called the manufacturer of the lift, and they said they would not warranty adjustable control arms if the nuts are not kept tight. The threads alone can’t handle the shock loads created when the slack created by tolerances in the threads is constantly pounded back and forth. Keep ’em tight, whatever you do.
