In all the years my family and I have been coming up to Tahoe for the summer, this was the first one that we’ve seen so much snow stick around so long and well into the month of July. In fact, by the 4th of July weekend, we had heard that nobody had been able to run the entire length of the Rubicon Trail.

In all the years we have been coming up to Tahoe in the summer, I’d have to say this is the first time that we’ve seen so much snow stick around for so long. In fact, even though it’s July, we had heard reports that the Rubicon Jeep Trail was still covered in deep snow from about the top of Cadillac Hill, down to the staging area near Tahoma and enough so that buggies were only recently breaking trail over the 4th of July weekend.

Day 6 – Goldbar Rim/Golden Spike to the Crack

May 2, 2011 wayoflife 0

Earlier in the week, there was some discussion about doing an easy scenic run to finish up our week long Moab adventures but, that didn’t last long and, come Friday, it was all about going out with a BANG!! And, that’s why we chose to do a run up Goldbar Rim and a part of the Golden Spike Trail to get out to the Golden Crack. On these trails, we saw lots of big ledges, all kinds of slickrock to play on and outstanding views out to the Colorado River and beyond.
