When we placed our order for a brand new Stone White 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited back on July 10, 2006, it was done with the complete knowledge and understanding that it may take some time to get. Having already gone through a similar experience back when we purchased our TJ some seven year before, we were quite prepared to do some waiting… but, what we didn’t realize at the time was just how much waiting we would really have to do.
With everything from a sway bar disconnect motor that didn’t like water to a newly designed BFGoodrich M/T KM tire that had a difficult time balancing and then a shortage of Freedom Tops for the Unlimited, it would seem that ordering an Unlimited in a Rubicon package was the single best way one could ensure that you wouldn’t get your new JK before the end of the year. In fact, when all was said and done, over six months would have passed before we would be able to take possession of our new JK on January 29, 2007. Was it worth the wait? You betcha!! We absolutely love this new Jeep and in some ways, I think the ridiculously long wait only made getting it that much sweeter. In fact, as some of you may know, we loved our JK so much that we ended up selling our TJ and bought a 2009 Sunburst Orange Jeep JK Unlimited X to replace it.
Below you will find current specs on our JK’s as well as great resource links to useful information regarding the Jeep JK Wrangler. And, if you just want to see some pics of our JK’s, simply click on the link below:

I purchased a gray with dark interior, I got a delevery date of Nov 14. JKL Rubicon $29,000.
I guess I’m ready to place my order, no sense delaying…
Except…what about the electronic sway bar disconnect problem? Those won’t ship until mid-07, and I’m not waiting that long. Is there an aftermarket option for this yet?
Hi Brian,
I’m not sure where you got your information but the problem with the electronic sway bar disconnects has been fixed. And, I have already seen 3 Rubicons with them on it so you’re good to go.
However, if you’re looking for a better solution, I know that Full Traction is developing their Rok-n-Lok for the JK and should have it available later on in the year.
Eddie
I purchased my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-door I picked it up yesterday. Its great. I got the dark blue color, advanced audio, larger tires, and hard top. I love it its soo sweet!
I purchased a Jeep Green Unlimited 4-door Sahara about a week ago and I’m almost tempted to quit my job just to drive it more. I got it with the kahki freedom top, in 4×4 with the 18″ wheels and I have to say it is truly the best Jeep I’ve had thus far. I’ve probably spent more time at this point just shopping for upgrades then I did in actually buying the Jeep. So far only some mopar interior upgrades like the black/kahki wet suit seat covers, the Jeep slush tread floor mats, the freedom top cover bag, hood T cover and a couple of other items. What I’m really waiting for are extra driving lights, winch and hopefully a roof top rack carrier.
que belleza es el rubicom esta vergatario
Mark, can you send me pics of yours? I was thinking of getting a green Sahara, but I didn’t know if I should get a Black or Khaki Freedom Top. My e-mail is troop6@hotmail.com . Thanks.
Hi,
I have a deposit on a Rescue Green Metallic Unlimited 4-door Sahara, that is due to arrive is about 2 weeks. Can someone please comment on the following:
1. Rumors/truth about water leak problems with the Freedom Hard Top
2. Underpowered complaints about the motor. I test drove one, noticed this, but wanted to gather other thoughts.
Thank you.
Hi Tony,
1. There have been a few people who have had water leaking problems but most do not. From what I understand, there might have been an initial problem with leaking but DC has since fixed this. Perhaps a few got out before the fix. Either way, I’m sure there will be a TSB issued to address this that’ll be covered under warranty.
2. I have found that with an auto, it did seem a bit sluggish but not necessarily underpowered. Driving a 6-speed seemed to have a lot more pep.
Eddie
Eddie,
Thank you for the information; very helpful.
I purchased a 4 door JK on Friday the 13th of October and I love this thing. Once you learn the power band of the 3.8 V6 with the 6 speed, I think it has plenty of power. But I also have the 4.10 gears in mine. I have to say I agree with some people that this is the most comfortable Jeep I have ever driven. Better than the TJ’s I have had, and much better than my (ex)YJ. I think DCX did right by the Wrangler name with the new JK!
Matt
Matt, good to hear you’re really enjoying the JK!
I’ve ordered a 2-dr Sahara with 6-spd and 4.10, like your 4-dr. I have a question regarding the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer with this setup. Have you had a chance to check these measurements against a speed readout indicator (like the ones you find at the approach to some bridges and highways that tell you your actual speed as you approach?) I hear from some owners that there is a potential for some heavy duty speeding tickets since readings can be off by 15 m.p.h. depending on the tire package.
I am sure they did fix the water leak problem. I even think they did a retro on the vehicles that had not been shipped yet. I received 2 different 4 door modles that had a blue peice of paper that had been hand written and photocopied in them with the words “Water” and “Done” in them.
TeraFlex has it’s S/T 975 Sway Bar available for the JK. This is a knob that disconnects the front sway bar for offroading. When back on the highway, just turn the know to the Street position and it will reconnect.
I just drove my 2 door rubicon from Panama City, FL to Asheville, NC. Very comfortable drive. I didn’t have any problems with the speedometer it was within 1-3 mph of my GPS. Can’t wait to take it off the pavement again when I get back to FL.
Hi there, I have a new 2007 Jeep Unlimited Sahara, its 3 days old and the roof leaks where the front panels connect. There is a Jeep TSB for a fix, but mine has had that fix (silly foam gasket that would last anyway). They are dealing with engineering now for a real fix, if its not fixed in a week I get a new one that doesnt leak. Not all leak, but if your does, dont let them try to jam the silly foam gasket in as a fix, it wont last! Anyone else having this problem?
Whoops, shouel read ” silly foam gasket that Wouldnt Last”
2007 Rubi 2Dr, first rain w/ freedom top went out to check. leaks like crazy!
I plan to buy a Red Sahara 4 dr in Jan and I have a couple of questions if anyone can help.
1.I plan to get the 18″ Wheels. Does anyone have an opinion on the over the road ride quality vs. my 2003 Liberty Renegade?
2. I am considering the MyGig head unit with Navagation. Anybody know where I can get details/pics about it? Do you think it’s a good choice? How do new 2007 owners like their new radios?
3. Anybody know where DC puts the satellite antenna for Sirius with the hardtop?
Thanks!!
Hi Phil,
I can comment on your ride quality question. I have the Unlimited Sahara 4×4 with the 18″ wheel package (have had it for about 1 week) and my wife and I also own a 2005 Liberty Limited. We both are quite pleased with the ride and agree that it rides just about or just as good as the Liberty. Keeping in mind what the Wrangler is really built for, the ride is great; and I can confirm that you can easily use it as a daily driver. Good luck to you and I am sure you will love it.
Tony
Tony - Thanks for the reply. I was told by a salesman that was the case but you know how that goes. Good luck with the Sahara.
BTW - I did learn that the release of the MyGiG unit is delayed for the Wrangler. From what I could find, it is supposed to be available in Dec.
I bought a 2007 Sahara and am having problems with the leaking roof as well. I have been to the dealer one time so far and they could not get to it that day. I wondered what the roof latch in the middle was for and it works well to stuff a napkin in to catch the water. Looks great driving around with a wash cloth on the dash. Hope to get it fixed tomorrow…
I read a message on the web about the leaking roof. One guy recommended reinstalling the driver side roof and fastening the front latch first then the others and the rear. Worked for some who replied to his message. I will try it tonight. At the dealership right now.
Love my 2007 Jeep Rubicon 2 Dr. Of the 12 Jeeps I have owned, this is by far the best. Only concern is trying to push my relatives and friends into the back seat. (Ok I know I should have bought a 4-dr, but my garage is too short and it snows a lot in MI). Dios anyone know how to get more forward travel on the pass. seat? I push both levers but the “tilt” function, like on the older model Wranglers, is not there. Am I stupid or is there a way to this?
Hey Matt, unfortunately, that’s all the travel you’re gonna get out of your front seat. I can’t even begin to understand why DC would have made this more difficult that the old TJ seats but they did.
I have a 4 door flaming red JK that I picked up in Arizona.
I drove 19 hours to Pendleton, Oregon and have started with personal upgrades. Since i am still reserching the right lift and rims and am waiting for bumpers to get made I startd from the inside.
11-14-06 Aspen Stereo in Richmond is working hard on installing the following:
2 amps, 10 speaker upgrade, Kenwood in dash stereo w\ dvd and navigation, 2 head rest screens, 10 disc remote player, ipod control, blue tooth and a better security system with gps navigation as well remote startup and kill via pc or cell phone.
we should crank out 1500 watts and will post pics next week.
I ORDERED A 4 DOOR UNLIMITED RUBICON (JEEP GREEN IN COLOR) ON
OCT. 20TH. NOV. 20TH THE DEALER SAYS THEY EVEN STARTED BUILDING YET! IS THIS COMMON??!! THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!
SORRY… SHOULD HAVE READ “THEY HAVENT EVEN STARTED BUILDING YET”.
Bought the Sahara and would probably know about the leaking better than anyone since I live in Oregon. I have had it in twice now and they are not sure what to do. They did put that little fix that one guy had mentioned below but it didn’t work and looked like it would fall apart at any moment. Taking it back in and curious to what they say.
Got my jeep back last Wednesday from the dealer. They fixed the leak cause it rained like crazy here over Thanksgiving and not one drop came through. I mentioned to the guy the dealership hires to do leak repairs what I had read here and it really helped him. Thanks! Even with the leak it is still the most fun I have had driving in a years.
I am about to order a 4 dr Sahara w/ basically all the options, including the MyGig system. I’m told delivery will be February. Have not owned a jeep wrangler in 10 years but am very much looking forward to it.
I went to order a 4 door Sahara with the Hard Top. The sales guy mentioned I would not receive the Jeep until at least February b/c DC is currently working on a permanent fix for the Hard Top leak issue. Just thought I’d pass this information along. Thanks!
THANK YOU MUCH FOR THE REPLY MATT, I SEE MY PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE.
I’LL CONTACT MY SALES GUY & GO FROM THERE. GUESS WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT!
hey,
just bought a Grey 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara G, getting it this thursday, can wait to drive it.
Leak Leak Leak. Mine seems to be getting worse. I have had my in the shop a couple of times. It seems to get worse. The radio is shorting out too. Really disappointed for someone who waited forever for these four-doors. Do I hear recall?? Just figure it out and fix it already! It is definitely the new top. I feel for the person that said he is shoving a napkin in the middle where the two panels meet. I’m right there with you. Unfortnately, my papertowel was still there when I picked my jeep up two weeks later. Hmmmm.
Yes, I live in Moab. Yes, it is one of the best places on earth to live (in case you were wondering).
I picked up my black 4dr Rubicon soft top three weeks ago and have already put 2500 miles on it in all conditions, hwy, snow storms, packed ice, muddy dirt roads, slickrock, and a little sand to boot … I love this jeep!
No leaks from the soft top in any of the above conditions, great performance on and off road and even fits the kid seats for a family outing.
Stock this jeep is by far the best engineered jeep to date. I will be adding some pro comp wheels, a 4″ teraflex lift, jeeperman bumbers and a few other goodies soon. Stay tuned for photos.
I ordered my Unlimited Rubicon in early Sept. and I am still waiting. I ordered both tops. Anybody else in a similar situation or know what the hold up is? Is it the leak issue as mentioned above?
Hello.
My first posting. Ordered a 2007 Rubi Unlimited 4 weeks ago. Delayed, delayed, delayed. Ordered with all options, and even agreed to let the dealer install MyGig later in order to go ahead and get the vehicle.
After no announcements on when I can even expect it, I called my salesman again today. He had told me last week that there was a ‘materials hold’ on it. I found out from him today that it is the leaking top problem. Apparently they are trying to figure it out and have halted delivery on anyone ordering one with a Freedom Top because of this.
I’m dying to get this Jeep, but I’m happy to wait if it means it will be more right when it comes! I’ll post updates here. Ordered a Steel Blue Rubicon Unlimited loaded with all options.
hi, yeah got my Jeep Sahara two doors, just great to drive. Love it. Use to drive a Jeep TJ, big big difference….
Ok. For those of us waiting for our four-door Wranglers, I have some info. I checked some back channels from someone who works at the Toledo plant and here’s the scoop. The company I work for is a supplier for DaimlerChrsler. The north Toledo plant where the Wranglers are built, the employees are working overtime to fill about 59,000 pending orders for mostly four-door Wrangler models and they are resolving the problem of the leaking roof issue.
There is a good article on this at “toledoblade.com (article published 11-30-06)
so… untill I get my 07 (jeep green) four-door Rubicon, I will just have to endure another Michigan winter in my ‘04 (stone white, two-door) rubicon.
hoped this helped,
DAVE.
So I posted December 1st at 2:07am, this is my follow-up.
I just got the call today, I’m in BX status! Thank God. We’ll see what happens next. Also I wanted MyGig but the wait was too long so my dealer agreed to install it at original cost when it comes out later. I wonder how long I’ll be at BX and I wonder if the leaking top situation is fixed.
We shall see.

2007 Steel Blue Rubicon Unlimited w/all available options
I’m going to order a dark green rubi, the costco dealer said the price is $500 under invoice.
Anyone else use costco to get their jeep under invoice price
thanks

Can anyone tell me what all the different build codes are and what they mean? I ordered a Sahara 4dr with lots of options about a month ago and both the dealer and DC have told me it’s in staus D.
Anyone know what that means. Really ANXIOUS to get this in and hit some trails on my property.
Hey Mike,
I have ordered through Costco twice before and was charged $400 OVER invoice. I would double check the actual cost you get against KBB or Edmunds first. I have also found that not all Costco participating dealers offer the same service so be careful. BTW, which dealer are you going through if you don’t mind me asking? Huntington Beach?
Hey Ed,
If you are in D status, your Jeep is scheduled to be built. Here’s a link that should help you out:
http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=161
Eddie
I order October 4th a wrangler 4 door 4×4 Sahara with lots of extras. Including the new hardtop (freedom top). Was told 4-6 weeks. I have a vin # but still not shipped almost 10 weeks. I was the first one to put in an order at the dealer. They now have 75 ordered. First I was told that there were so many orders they ran out of the hard tops and they are on back order. Now hearing (rumors only can’t find a press release) that something is wrong with the 3 compartment hardtop. But, I also have not heard of many 4 door 4×4 sahara soft tops out there much either. Anyone hear when these vehicles may actually ship? Will they be here by Christmas?
I’m waiting on a rescue green 4dr Rubicon with the dual top option. I put the deposit on it on Nov. 11, and at that time I was told that it would be 8-10 weeks before I would recieve the vehicle. I spoke to the salesman yesterday and he told me that the way things are going my JK won’t be built untill sometime in January. It’s kind of a bummer but if they work all the bugs out with this leak problem and whatever else may come along it will be worth the wait
I had a chance to see the MYGig unit first hand reciently, and got to check out some of its options. A friend of mine has it in his vehicle. It is a very very cool unit and I highly recommend getting it.
The only problem is, I have noticed that at the bottom of the write-up on it, in the Wrangler booklet that you get from the dealer, there’s some ultra-small print that says “Late availabilty”. I asked the salesman at the dealership what would be concidered “late” and he said probably not untill sometime in Jan. But that’s just his speculation.
I’ve been told that the Jeeps that have been ordered with just the soft tops have been taking between 4 and 6 weeks to arrive.
Eddie,
Thank-You for the web-site link! Thought I was getting jerked around a little. Have only owned 4WD trucks for years but as
soon as I saw the 4dr unlimited, I had to have it. Rookie when
it comes to jeeps but plan to do some mods to it. Thanks again for the help and all the other info you put on this site! It’s
helping to educate me on a lot of different options I can go to
when starting ther modifications I’m planning.
Ed
Great website, I also ordered a jeep green unl. rubi. on nov 2…as of today its still “scheduled out” thru dec., Apparently that means the factory is full til jan…I got the hardtop. Thanks
Here’s a great overview of the MYGig system
http://www.dodge.com/en/nitro/interior.html?feature=mygig
Is this hardtop leak only in the 4 door or does the 2 door also have a leak issue???
Thanks
update on my jeep. As I mentioned I ordered on October 4th a unlimited 4 door sahara with freedom top and had a vin # now for about 5 weeks. It finally is on a rail car!!! My dealer says that anyone without a VIN# at this time will not see there 4 door for months (like february to april) depending upon if they ordered it already or just starting out now. I was lucky because before they stopped production I already had a VIN# My jeep is suppose to be at dealer 12/26th and then they need it for a couple days (clear coat etc.). Way its going it will probably be January 3rd before I get it. That will make it 90 days to the day from when I ordered. By the way, he also says that I shouldn’t have a leak issue. Apparently they have fixed the problem, we will see.
Well, went from BX back down to BG today. However now that MyGig is finally available apparently or will be soon, we’re going to modify my order to see that it’s installed. I guess God only knows when this Jeep is going to ship. I had really wanted it before the winter, but I just don’t know if it’s going to happen.

07 Rubi
Congrats Kathy
I’m glad to hear that someone will be getting their’s soon.
I was told by my dealer that mine probably won’t even begin to be built until sometime in Feb.(I ordered it Nov.11) I’ll be happy if I get it by my birthday in March. The dealer also told me that they have sold about 12 of the four door units, almost all with the freedom tops, and he hasn’t had any of them come back with any roof leak complaints. And it’s rained really heavily a few time around here. So maybe the leak problem isn’t really as big of an issue as it’s been made out to be???
The leaky roof issue seems to be haunting alot of people. I was wondering did any of you with the leaking roofs disassemble the roofs after you took delivery of your jeep, and then re-assemble them again for the rain. I remember the seals on the old bronco’s roofs were faulty and exhaust could seep into the cab if the seals were ever broken. Just curious. I’m picking up my 2dr Rubi next week with the freedom top, I’ll be sure to check out how the roof seals together.
Hawk,
We ordered our jeeps on the same day. I just got off the phone with DC 12/21/06 and they told me my Sahara was in D1 status which means its being built at this time, with a scheduled delivery to dealer on or around Jan 11th. I can’t remember in your past posts if you ordered the MyGIG. If so, that could be the delay from what my dealer told me. Hope you get good news soon. Looking forward to getting mine in. Good luck!!

To Eddie,
I ordered my Rubi, dark green unlimited at Countywide in Garden Grove. Its now at D status.
The paper that the dealer had from Costco showed the price was $500 under invoice and that was for I think all of the Chrysler cars and trucks.
My dealer, also stated that I would get all the mopar parts at his cost price.
I ordered the dark green cause it matches my 51 M38 Willys jeep that I restored in 2005. check this out, I can tow my 51, weighs 2300 lbs and then go off roading with both.
Thanks
Mike in Seal Beach
To Mark,
I ordered the Jeep green with the black hardtop and black softtop.
Can you email me photo of the khaki soft top and hard top.
Does the hardtop come in khaki too.
Did you get the grey interior or the khaki interior. Please send me photos if you have any of tops and interior
thanks

Just got my Jeep Wrangler 2007 4 door w/ 3 peice hard top two weeks ago. It’s in the shop b/c of roof leak. The dealership is trying to fix it, i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem, too early to tell i guess.

Hey there Ed,
We ordered our Jeeps on the same day and yours is being built?!
MAN!!! That’s best news I’ve heard in a long time! You’ve really lifted my spirits. I was plannin’ to call the dealer because when I ordered my ride I was just going to get the stock stereo, along with the sattelite radio. But then I saw how the MYGig unit works personally in my friends vehicle (he’s got an H2), and I thought that getting the MYGig would be great! So I told my dealer thtat if they became available before my rig was built I would like the MYGig installed instead. But I reciently learned that the Voice Command and the UCONNECT bluetooth features are not going to be installed on the Wrangler MYGigs because of the fact that the microphone and keypad for those options are mounted in the rearview mirror. And since the windshields on the Wranglers fold down they are not going to be installing that special mirror in them. So now that I know that I’ve kind of lost my taste for the MYGig unit, and I’m thinking about going with the 6 disk player, and buy a cold air intake instead, and save a little money.
So I was going to call the dealer and let him know that I have changed my mind (again
) about the stereo. Maybe he will have some good news for me. But actually at this point I really don’t care what kind of stereo my Jeep comes with as long as it comes soon.
Just a note - especially for the Don A Vee orders, I had one on order and have been told by several of their sales crew that the manager has forced them to sale above MSRP - no joke - at least 2000 at this point and I hear it is climbing. To check - I called Dealers all across SoCal and found that some dealers did mark them up anywhere from 2000 to 10000 dollars. In Fact I was quoted from one of the dealers - I believe San Juan Cap. that they had a black Rubi and told me it was 46,000 - this is pure B.S. (the quote was actual - the price B.S.) He said it had add-ons, but the add ons actually should have come to no more then 4000. So- just a heads up - I ditched my order and bought one from Ontario - still paid a mark up, but the sales man - (Kevin Kerth)was more then up front about everything and actually knew about the product he was selling.
Well so we’ve added the MyGig to my order and it didn’t change my already demoted status of BG. I was at BX and demoted to BG last week. At BG now with the MyGig added and hovering.
Leaks in the roof? Well, I don’t really want to talk about that. I mean, with the money you blow on this rig, that’s not something you want to talk about right? Well, this is my 4th Jeep all priors being in the CJ family. When it rained inside of them, I didn’t care. That’s not to say that I don’t want it to rain in my 07 Rubicon Unlimited, but if it does, I’ll deal with it. If dealing with it means talks with the dealer or me doing some jury-rigging on the tops then so be it. I’m not going to get angry until the locking differentials kick out when I need them. If that happens, then God help Jeep because I will rain down on them like fire from Hell. But of course that won’t happen.
And by the way! Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays!
We shall Jeep until the wheels come off!
Scott
07 Rubi
Still leaking after i brought it into the dealership two days ago. I am bringing it in again after christmas to see if they can stop the leaking. Wonder what happens after i bring it in the 3rd time and they cannot fix the problem????
Had our first rain since i got my 4 door in mid November - leaks like crazy. Thought I was the only one until I googled “roof leak” and 2007 wrangler and came across this website… At least I’m not alone. Anyone having a problem with the automatic throttle control?
HAVE OWNED MY 07 4 DOOR UNLIMITED FOR 2 MONTHS NOW. HAVE THE FREEDOM TOP LEAK PROBLEM ALSO. WATER LEAKS ON TO DASH IN CENTER RIGHT DOWN INTO THE STEREO THAT IM SURE WILL BE FRIED NEXT. VISUALLY CHECKING THE AREA WHERE IT IS LEAKING I SEE WHERE A FIX WAS ATTEMPTED PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING. WHEN I ASKED THE SALES PERSON ABOUT THE ROOF LEAKING AT BUYING TIME HE STATES “THESE ROOFS ARE DESIGNED NOT TO LEAK” BULL $%@#…..WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS 27,000 DOLLAR SHOWER THEY CALL A VEHICLE. WILL BE GOING TO DEALER IN AM DEMANDING NEW JEEP. IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET TO BUY, I WOULD WAIT AT LEAST A YEAR OR PURCHASE THE SOFT TOP. IF YOUR LUCKY MAYBE IT WONT LEAK….
I took delivery of my unlimited four door (off the lot) 11-28. I ordered hard top which was installed Friday 12-22. It leaks at the windshield where the two top pieces join. Dealer is claiming that a new weather seal is coming out shortly.
What a wonderful dealer I have. My jeep arrived at dealer earlier than they thought on December 22nd and they stayed late, did the undercoat and I went in the eve of the 23rd to pickup my shinny silver 4 door, manual 6 speed, wrangler sahara with the freedom top and loaded in every way I could from manufacturer. It is gorgeous. In time for christmas with 7 miles on it. I live at 7000 feet in snow and ice. No leaks so far but due to the weather in the sierras I haven’t taken the freedom top off and back on yet. Unbelivable how well sealed this vehicle is. Air tight, quiet and wonderful shocks. I added the rear slip differential and it comes with stability equalizer that really works great(yes we had a turn with a slide on ice that you could feel the stabilizer settle the truck). I couldn’t get my gig but did get the stereo with 6 cd changer and sirius with the extra speaker. The sound system works great. The only additional cost I spent that wasn’t worth it were the manufacturers floor mats. Thin and carpeted that really won’t do for dirt, snow, or off road. The parts department at the dealer did happen to have some great heavy duty rubber mats that were well worth the cost. Don’t spend the money for mats from manufacturer just pu some great jeep rubber mats when the car comes in. I have owned a 2 door wrangler since 92, this car is every bit a jeep with some really nice comforts that are added but can still be removed whenever you want. WORTH THE WAIT!!
My 07 Jeep wrangler 4 door Leaks at the bottom of the full doors.
It has a soft top but it dosent leak. Any suggestions? It happens on the driver and passenger side. Light rain even trickles in to make the carpets wet.
if you talk to the folks at the jeep customer service 800# they claim to have no idea about the widespread leak issue. The dealership (dropped mine off last night) says there’s no TSB for it but that they will fix it and that they felt it was an isolated issue. I referenced this website and they said 2 or 3 people “claiming” to have a problem doesn’t make it a widespread issue. I wonder, precentage wise, how many jeep owners with the freedom hard top are having the leak problem…. the dealership did give me a new ‘06 liberty to drive until the issue is resolved though…
What are we going to do people? What are we going to do about our leaks. I too have a leaky jeep just like everyone else. Same place…doors and leaky freedom top drips right down on the by the radio and the 4wd shift. Mine has been in the shop twice and my dealership states ‘there is nothing else they can do for me!’ Great! Just what I want to hear. Lemon Law? Nobody else has mentioned about the radio shorting out. Is that just me? It something happens when I’m at a stop light and start moving or when I put the electric windows down and push both button up at the same time. Anyone with the same problem?
Hey there Jeepgrl,
Here is a link to a conversation (or thread) about what you are discribing (the shorting out) and how to probably get yours fixed. http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1224
It’s from a web site called JK-Forum.com, which you can get to by clicking on the green JK-FORUM button at the top of this site page. It’s a great Forum site with a wealth of information all dealing with the new 2007 model JK Jeep Wrangler. You need to sign up in order to post questions or replies, but it doesn’t cost a dime, and every one that’s a member there is very cool, and someone will always try their best to help you out. If anything you’ll find that when it comes to problems with your new Jeep…your not alone. But at least there you have a better chance of getting answers to any Jeep questions you may have.
I’m putting in my order this week for a black rubi unlimited with dual tops. When I test drove a JK last week, the dealer told me no more freedom tops are being produced at this time until the problem is fixed.
ok… i bought a sort top 4 door and i have no roof leaks. i also work at the jeep dealership. if you tighten the screws too hard that go in the 3 piece haard-top you could easily have a leak. not only that but if you put it on wrong that would also cause it to leak. I live in east texas,it rains like crazy, and none of my customers have come to me with a leaky roof. i don’t know what is wrong with yours, but i know when my customers left the dealership they knew how to operate the top. now about ordering your jeeps. I have heard that you will not get a rubicon till around february or march. thats what i have heard. i would check on it but i think that its true. now there is no way people are buying a jeep for 10,000 dollars over sticker. i have never found a person that commited into buying. i know some dealerships do sell them over sticker, but mine does not. if anyone has a question, email me…
I am going crazy! I order a Black 2 door Rubicon with the dual top group etc… on October 27th still waiting!!! Only bad news I got so far is the MyGiG media system will not be available with it… My dealer was given the VIN # last week… so it cant be long now
Hey there folks.I just picked up a 2007 2dr-rubicon,silver with the two top option.I do have water leaking in as well but it is coming in from where the door(both door’s)top front corner meets the windshield frame and the top.So with the 3 mating surfaces the water is finding a way in.I’m actually surprised it is not leaking more due to the way the top sits on the windscreen frame. There is enough water getting in that I’ll be going to the dealer and see what they come up with.i am going to give DC the benefit of the doubt and I am sure they will work something out.I will say the top is still miles ahead of my old yj top!
As for the engine, since the most fun you will have with this vehicle will be under 10 miles an hour,it’s a good match.I would be leary of the 4dr with this engine. The 4 dr weighs over 5000 pounds and when you throw in a few buddies and gear, you may be asking a bit much of V6.
I’ll keep you people updated on my leak!
I bought a 4×4 Jeep unlimited Sahara in November, because i jumped the gun when I saw they had a “Rescue Green”, with all the options I wanted. They told me it was being shipped from Toledo and would be here in two weeks. Now apparently its being “held” because of the freedom top problem. After hours of complaining on the phone to the sales manager, he explains Jeep wont recall a part until the potential price of lawsuits outweighs the recall cost.
Getting this thing home is harder than trying to adopt a baby oversees. Hopefully it’s worth the wait. Does anyone have ANY updated info on the Toledo hold?
Frustrated. Unlike many of you I’ve never owned a Jeep. The 4 door looked like a wonderful option. (2 kids) Bad thing is I’ve got leaks as well. I’ve got water that consistently drops in on the passenger door handle and sometimes the center drops some. When I first took it into the dealership they attempted to fix it by tightening down the top. SMART MOVE. Cracked the tops and I’ve been waiting for replacements since November.
Problem is that is still leaking. I’ve been told the shipping is cracking the top. I’ve seen this firsthand because I’ve got one of the new cracked tops on now.
I’ve only got 3300 miles on the car and honestly wish I’d never bought it.
I hope to tell you some happy result soon.
Question for “bucky”…
I just got my new 4 door Sahara with the dual tops, last Thursday.
Since I got dual tops, I had to take the hard top off, to get the soft top out. I replaced the hard top. It then poured here in MI for the next 3 days. I do have a leak just as the other 8 or so people described in this chain… As far as I can tell, the water is running down the channel between the two front panels and is then dripping down into the jeep at the front corner of this seam right over the rear view mirror. the water lands on the dash and console.
I took the front panels off, dried the gaskets, put them back on…and still have a leak - although not as bad. It’s not pouring in by any means, but when it rains hard, there’s a drop every few seconds…
You said you work at a dealer and if the screws are overtightened, this could cause the leak… Which screws? The ones holding on the back half of the top or the two large manual screws over the front two seats?
I have no problem believing that we overtightened something…can you give me an idea of which screws to loosen to see if that stops the leak?
Thanks for any more info you can provide!
Another thing - For all of you waiting on orders…
I ordered mine the last weekend in September…It came in on December 27th to the dealer.
Status was “being built” in mid November…so the dealer assured me it would be ready no later than December 9 at that point…
I finally got to pick it up on the 28th of December.
I was not given any reason for the lengthy order process. The last jeep I ordered took 6 weeks to come from the factory. I had a lease that ended on Nov. 15, I had to extend to Dec. 15, then Chrysler told me to utilize their “grace period” and drive it until Dec. 26th.
Luckily, it came in 2 days later.
Wow, I’m really sorry to hear about all the leak problems you guys are having but since I don’t even have my JK yet (been on order since July 10th), I don’t even know how to address it yet. I have been doing some asking around and it seems that a lot of the leaks are being caused by the Freedom Top panels not being seated properly. And, as mentioned, tightening up the knobs will only result it cracking the top. I’ll try to do some more asking around and let you guys know if I can find anything out.
Eddie
my jeeps been at the dealership for a week and 1/2 now - the service folks say they can’t do anything about the leak until DC puts out a TSB so it’s been sitting in their shop while I drive a Durango they gave me. Tomorrow I’m asking them to order a soft top for it and be done with the damn thing. Very frustrating.
I’ve been reading these posts an am amazed some people have had their JK ordered for 3,4, and even 5 months now without getting it in. I ordered mine on 11/11/06 and have been in D1 status now for about 3 weeks. Does DC put orders in D or D1 status to just
passify people and keep it there for who knows how long. I’ve already sold my 05 F-150 and am driving my son’s truck that I gave to him. This is just unbelievable and a real inconvenience.
I was told 6-8 weeks but from reading these posts it could be Feb. or March before I see the 4dr Sahara I ordered. Good luck to each of you waiting and I really hope this thing is built right, i.e. - bad paint on hinges, missing bump stops, doors not properly aligned. Leaking freedom tops. Good luck to each of you waiting but I’m not at all impressed at this point with DC.
Sold the F-150 last week thinking my 8 weeks would be up this week and would be driving my new Sahara. I’ve ranted enough. Wish the best to everyone waiting!!!!
I have 4 door Sahara with the Freedom top and have not had a water leak problem. Its been rained on, and has been through a car wash multiple times. I have not, to date, taken off any of the hard top panels. I have been monitoring this site for some time, and seeing that the leak issue seems to be wide-spead, I also phoned (today) the Jeep customer service line. They are still, as of today, “not aware” of any TSB in the works or production stopage with regards to the Freedom Hard Tops. Hard to believe. I was wondering how many people out there have a Freedom Top that is not leaking and if you have removed & replaced panels and still are not having any leak problems.
Ed,
Can you elaborate a bit more on the “bad paint on hinges” issue you mention above. I have not heard of this one before.
Thank you,
Tony
Tony,
I don’t think it’s a common or serious problem but open the doors of your new Sahara and see if the inside part of the hinges are completely covered with paint. I read on another site which also had pictures of the hinges not being completely covered with paint and being able to see the primer underneath. A definite future rust spot, especially in this area. I’ll try and find that link again and post it here so you and others can check it out for yourselves. Can’t wait to get mine in but I think it’s going to be a while.
Ed
Has anyone thought of starting a “Free the Jeeps” campaign, because this is getting rediculous! It’s sad because I’m stressed about the fact I haven’t gotten the jeep I bought yet, but even more stressed about the problems this thing seems to be coming equiped with. I don’t remeber asking for the “leaky roof” extra, but I was pretty hyped at the time of purchase, so you never know.
Tony, I have had my Jeep since 12/23 (fyi ordered 10/3). I too have not had a leak. I have not taken the freedom top off yet. Since I live in snow country I will not take the top off until probably May and hope that when I replace it, have a leak, that they will have a solution by then.
For those waiting for your jeep. From what I have found out, if you had a vin# before december then you should see your jeep soon. If not, then you won’t see your jeep untill february to march. Almost 3 month wait was terrible and since I don’t have a leak (yet), I love this Jeep!!! It is the best thing I ever did. My only problem is I can see fog lamps in the front bumper but can’t find a way to turn them on. No switch has been found yet. Anyone know where the switch is?
I have a 4 door Sahara delivered in early October. I have 6K miles on it. The leaking roof is my problem. The removable panels in the front seem to not seat completely with the widow frame. The gasket on the window frame is designed to funnel the water to the outside. Problem is that the water then runs out and falls down to the floor (footwell) area and does not dry up under the floormats. Anyone else noticing moisture under their floormats?
I would assume DC will be redesigning the gasket/seal for the top of the front window to create a better seal all along the removable panels.
I do not want to go to the dealer until I know they have a fix. I will admit that I am concerned they will not fix it if none of us go to the dealer.
Any thoughts?
Kathy,
Thank you for your reply. I live in the Northeast and like you, will not touch the panels until the warm weather rolls around.
To turn on your fog lights: pull outwards on the end portion of the headlight wheel/switch.
Tony
I have a 2-door with a hardtop and have a couple of leaks, one directly over the stereo and one at the point where the door frame meets the roof. I actually paid $1,000 less than sticker price but the leaks are frustrating me. Is there a permanent fix yet?
just got off the phone with my dealership - they say a TSB for the roof leak is coming out on the 18th (last week they told me it was coming out this week). So…. I called the state Attorney General’s office and spoke with a couple of folks there and explained my situation. It sounds like, at least in Virginia, if the manufacturer and/or dealer was aware of the issue prior to selling the vehicle they are required, by state law, to advise the purchaser of the problem. The AG’s office seemed reluctant to get involved though unless there were at least a few Virginia residents impacted - any of you happen to live in Virginia????
Yes. Northern VA. I ordered my car last month. It now makes sense why they couldn’t tell me an exact delivery date.
I have had my 2dr greystone pearl x 23s w 17 in rims for about a week. Oh yeah soft top with no leaks. I have wanted one since I was 18(35 now). So I was off track and been driving a car since I was 22. Recently in the market for my second new vehicle ever. I stopped by the dealship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and after a test drive I immediatly bought my jeep off the show room floor. I could not BELIEVE How refined the new JK is. The ride is 10x better and the convenices are great. When I drive by the older wranglers they seem so small to me. I love this new design!!!! I am excited to be a member of the jeep community.
I picked up my ‘07 4 door Sahara with the freedom top on Jan. 3rd and I have not had leak problems. I made the dealer “test drive” it with me through the car wash! When it didn’t leak, I bought it. Since then, I’ve taken off the two front panels for a cold drive around town and then put them back on. Then, I took it through the car wash again. No leaks. Am I just lucky? I’m totally happy with my awesome new Jeep and I really feel for those of you with these problems. Because I had read this and other forums before my purchase, I was very careful about the top. I read the manual and made sure I took the panels off and put them back on according to the directions and in the recommended sequence. I made sure that the panels did not overlap the front edge of the seal where it meets the top of the wind sheild. I’ll post here if I have any leaks or if I find out any more information. Best of luck to all.
I took my Jeep in today to have it worked on. I too have the continued leaking problem with the Freedom Top. My service manager told me that a TSB was released on the Freedom Top and it should be 1-2weeks for parts. I’m crossing my fingers.
I took my Jeep in day to have the chip flashed, another TSB. I was suggested this (THANKS CHOPPER) from another link on this web page. I have had trouble with dash lights coming on and my radio shutting off while driving/idling and while pushing both switches for the front/back windows up simultaneous. I should have it back today or tomorrow. I will update later.
::::Water Leak::::
I purchased a black sahara 4 dr. I brought it to the dealership four times for a water leak on the passenger side underneath the door pocket. They plugged it the three times. Then They replaced the weather strip with an updated one on the fourth time. It still leaks. Just the other day the other three doors started to leak. I’m do to bring it back to the dealer ship this week. I have seen new jeeps on the dealers lot with a sheet of paper on it written with a marker it says “Water done”. I’m trying to do some research if this is a frequent problem I love the jeep but hate the leak. I know jeeps leak eventually but not when its a month old and you just speny twenty-nine grand on it.
Is anyone familiar with the lemon law?
Would this problem qualify?
thanks tony, found the pull piece as you stated to turn on fog lamps. Felt stupid. Need to look into the paint you mentioned before or rusting issue. What should I look for?
Has anyone heard anything more about the possiblity of jeep adding Mygig to these 4 door jeeps? My dealer says he will call when news comes but just wondering.
Hello all,
I have two or three prior postings on this thread. My 07 Rubi is still on order and although once at BX status, it was demoted to BG a week or so before Christmas. It was ordered a week prior to Thanksgiving. I have had numerous calls with the dealership and my salesman whom I like. He has told me that all Hard Tops were being held pending some sort of repair for the leaking. Additionally, Kathy, it’s my understanding through him that the MyGig was available for ordering on the 4 doors a few weeks ago. If you see my earlier postings, I was originally slated to have it installed later since it wasn’t available at the time of my order, but my order was taking so long that my salesman had the now available MyGig added to it. It was already at BG status when we did this and it did not get further demoted after the MyGig was added. I have no idea when I’m going to get it, but I don’t really care as long as it’s right when it finally comes.
I am greatly curious about the downpour of water into the cabin when opening the doors after rain. If anyone develops a workaround for this or sees one posted elsewhere, please post a link here.
I am tremendously grateful for this community.
Scott
Just thought I’d post an update as to where my JK is. As you all know by know, I have had mine on order since July 10, 2006 and it just went to D status back in December and D1 on January 3, 2007 with an estimated ship date of the 18th. And, I just checked again today and I now have a new estimated ship of the 17th!! Boy, I sure hope DC isn’t teasing me
Eddie
Well after my posting yesterday, I got the call today. I have a VIN and I’m in D status. Wish me luck on the Freedom Top.
07 Rubicon Unlimited Steel Blue Dual Top/MyGig
Scott
I just got confrimation from my dealer that my order has been submitted as follows:
“I cannot email a copy of the order, but it is as follows:
Unlimited Sahara 4×4, 23G package
6 speed manual
Rescue Green
Freedom Top 3 piece Black Hard Top
Dark Khaki/Medium Khaki cloth low back bucket seats
locking fuel cap
18×7.5 Aluminum Wheels
P255/70R18 OWL On/Off Road tires
AM/FM CD MP3 Nav Radio (the sales code for this radio is RER which is the same as the MyGig, although it does not identify it as a MyGig in this model. I am still waiting for clarification)
Anti Spin differential rear axle
Trailer Tow Group
sale price: 28167.00
tax 1408.35
registration 242.00″
Can anyone comment on the price? Is that good?
I am still waiting on status for delivery which will no doubt be in several months.
I owned a 93 Wrangler for a couple of years and ma looking forward to being a Jeep owner again.
scott, good luck, I had a vin # for about 4 weeks before actually getting car because it was held for freedom top. Hope your time is less than mine. I spoke to dealer today who is still telling me that my gig will not be available on the 4 doors before summer. (not sure if that applies to 2 door model or not) They just had a meeting saturday to discuss this and he says he has a tons of people who are asking and want it. He recommended to dealer that they shouldn’t even mention my gig to any one until it is actually available.
what do you mean downpour of water after rains into cabin? I don’t have a problem even after the snow (6 inches) melted off the
top.
My dealer just received two 4door and three 2door models with the freedom top option and no leaks. He stated that there was a material problem with the tops but it has been resolved. I have had a Rubicon on order since Nov 18 and just received the VIN on Jan 8. I had a feeling it was going to be some time because I ordered it over the holidays.
If you are worried that you paid too much, go to jeep.com and build your vehicle to get the MSRP price. If you paid under that price you are doing well, this jeep is very popular and dealers are not willing to negotiate. That being said, I would not pay over MSRP!
Kathy- My dealer told me the MyGig is available for order. I ordered as stated in my post aabove. A 4 door with the MyGig. I will advise when I get an estimated delivery date but I sure hope it will be before summer.
Jay- thanks. I paid quite a bit UNDER MSRP. He is telling me it is $500 over invoice, not sure, but I know it is well under MSRP. thanks.
Kathy - I think you’re dealer must be mistaken about the MyGig, either that, or mine is. I initially ordered without it after striking a deal with my salesman to have it installed at original cost later when it came out. Mine was held so long for the Freedom Top fix that during the waiting the MyGig became available for order so he contacted DC and modified my order. He was worried it would kick my status down, but it didn’t, so if I’m to believe him, and I have no reason not to, now that I have a VIN, I may be a month away from a 4-Door with MyGig.
As for the water pouring in, I was frantically googling info on the FreedomTop at other boards and found numerous complaints about the gutter on the top collecting water during rain and that when you open the door, the water pours straight down and due to the shape of Jeep, winds up landing on the floor inside the cabin. It wasn’t clear to me if this was the gutter on the top or something associated with the door, but there was more than one posting on a few different sites. If you haven’t had the problem then maybe it’s just one of those things. I’m glad to hear that the Freedom Tops seem to be repaired although I’m sure that DC will deny taking action or making changes to avoid liability if anyone sues.
I still can’t wait for mine!
Here’s a picture of my last CJ, which I sold to a gentleman in Atlanta a few years ago.

Scott
Does anyone here have any information about the security sytem. In my last Wrangler, I had 2 stereo’s stolen. I’m just wondering how long it will take to have the MyGig ripped out?
It sounds like they’re starting to move off the line. I ordered my ‘07 Unlimited Rubicon on 11/03/06 and was told today that it is in the process of being built (on the line, VIN#, etc.).
I’m still hearing different stories abount MyGIG - my dealer said it still is not available and they think Feb.
You can find owners manuals for the JK at. http://www.jeep.com/owners/manuals.html#
Best part, it’s free!
hey scott and wareagleinmd, I hope your dealers are right about the my gig. Did they mention which parts of the system would not work on these cars (compared to chryslers). I read a post that said because the window folded down certain things (like hands free phone) would not be available?
Regarding the water, I have not noticed a problem although I have alot more snow than rain. We do have to wash every other day though. My floors are always wet from shoes/boots tracking in snow. I highly recommend getting from the parts counter (can’t order with vehicle) the rubber mats (they look like tire tread on them). Heafty and excellant coverage. The floor mats from manufacturer ($50) were thin, carpeted, crappy mats. Can’t wait to hear you got your cars, I live at 7200 feet up a very winding mountain and did go up parts of mountain in 6th gear on my manual!!! That was amazing. I read some postings that the automatic was not as good and kept shifting around in gears. My old wrangler is usually only in 3rd and sometimes 4th on the same road.
Wareagleinmd; if you got a sahara 4 door 4×4 with the power package with those 18″ wheels and my gig you got a very good price. I paid exactly MSRP from the jeep web site (build your own vehicle) quote. When I picked up my car the dealer said they were now selling a couple thousand above what I paid since they are really a wanted vehicle. He had 2 on the floor with the increase prices on the windows.
ps; what a great looking CJ you had scott
kat
I’m getting really frustrated seeing these posts about people getting their Vin#s for their Unlimited Rubicons. I ordered 9-12-06 and my dealer is telling me his computer gives me a projected build date of Feb. What’s up with that??? Also I wonder if I will have to change my license plate from H2OPRUF.
Hi there. Another one waiting for her Sahara 4dr. I’ve had my order in the dealers hands since late Nov. but my order had the My Gig on it. The system would not accept my order due to the My Gig “late availability”….Well, the salesmam called me on Jan.4 and said the system finally accepted the order. I’M THRILLED!!!! So, given that my order went in…all of you wondering about the My Gig production I would assume it is now under way. I just don’t know how much longer I can stand the wait for my new 07! I have long awaited a larger Jeep, capacity for 5, (my family size) for years.Glad to have found this site to know many of us are anxiously awaiting delivery.
Best to you all.
Angie
Well Kathy, I hope the automatic’s okay. I would have preferred the stick, but my wife and I live in Manhattan and commute back and forth to another 2nd home in Pennsylvania. That home is on a river that is prone to flooding. Thus the Jeep. To help with the snow in PA, flooding aftermath and just driving in general. I figured the auto would be better in off-road conditions for creeping etc, and also better in bad NYC traffic. I’m planning a great deal of off-roading, camping, canoeing etc. in PA too so I’ll let you know how the Auto does.
I’m definitely going for those tougher mats. I had hoped to all along and from what you’re saying about the factory ones, that just seals it.
Also, I had read those postings about the hands free on the mygig as well. If mine actually has it, I’ll let you know what the story is. Base on all the information I’ve read here and elsewhere, I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a polka-dotted emu instead of a Jeep.
Thanks for the compliments on the CJ. It was 78 CJ-7 with a 302 V-8. It was a beauty.
Scott
Hey Scott, If you get the Emu at least you’ll get better gas milage
From what I have read, no UCONNECT (hands free phone) or voice command capability. That is because the microphone is supposed to be in the rear view mirror.
Since the chances of me ever actually folding down the windshield are slim, I figure I will try to upgrade to add those features.
In any event, the navidation system and other features of MyGig are cool enough for me for the time being.
My dealer told me he will have an estimated delivery date by next week.
Also, Kathy- thanks for the info on the price. The deal is actually a client of mine and I thought I got a good price. Also, if anyone is in Maryland, it has been the most pleasant experience I have ever had buying a car. I actually am driving 40 minutes to the dealership rather than going to the one in town.
Hey scott OT, if you go to the laugh factory in NYC my son usually hosts there on fridays or saturdays 22 yr old stand up , Kyle. I could also get you discount (maybe even free). The post I read about the automatic dealt more with mountain driving like I have. I would think standard circumstances the shift would be fine.
Wareagleinmd, thx for the hands free info, let me know what you do to get the upgrade. I would not take windshield down either.
H20; thats why I didn’t get Rubicon and ordered Sahara instead. On 10/3 when I ordered the dealer told me how they were making the vehicles. Standard Unlimited first, Saharas next then the Rubicon. He was sure I wouldn’t see Rubiscon till Jan/Feb and that was before the leak issue came up. He was frustrated because in years past they didn’t do a model at a time. Sorry to hear about your wait. I hear they are starting Rubicons now though if that gives you a smile.
kat
I have seen a few 4 foor Saharas but no Rubicons.
As I said, I am expecting a preliminary delivery date next week.
Will advise for those interested.
Kat,
Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize they were building the Rubicons last. It would be nice to get it before the weather gets bad this winter in my area, of course it may not do that. We’ll see.
Thanks for the connection on your son. That’s great that he’s doing Stand-up. That takes a brave soul. My wife’s a comedy writer here in the city actually so we know a few stand-ups ourselves. My wife works Fridays and Saturdays and when she doesn’t we’re generally out in PA so I don’t know if we’ll make it to Times Square any time soon, but thanks for the wonderful invitation.
Does anyone know if there’s a particular day of the week that’s best to check on status code updates?
Scott
scott; don’t know about “best” date but my salesman was checking every monday and every friday. By the time they posted the shipping on the vehicle it arrived the next day in California then 4 days from there to dealer in Reno.
my son is a comedy character actor who left UCLA theatre and needs the applause, so he does stand up and hosting. I will let him know about you so anytime you and even a couple friends want, call and ask for Kyle. He works in office doing promotions etc at laugh factory during day so he is reachable there. Just tell him Scott, 4 door jeep and his mom and he’ll know. He’ll love this to add to his collection of mom jokes anyways.
My dealer informed me the factory is making no Wranglers in January. Anyone else hear this?
I have not heard that and my order went in last week. I am expecting further information this week. Will advise if I hear anything.
Well, my 07 wrangler unlimited has been in the shop three weeks now. Here’s what’s been done and/or is being done: (it still isn’t ready)
Blemishes in the clear coat (had to repaint two doors)
removed all doors and hood and painted hinge areas
chip flashed due to battery light coming on
automatic throttle control replaced because it kept malfunctioning
roof leak POSSIBLY fixed with new seals from jeep
radio replaced due to roof leak
underhood light installed
this is my 6th jeep and, unfortunately, the first one i’ve owned that DC did a crap job of putting together….
I hope they have the issues worked out before mine goes on the assembly line.
MIke, When did you first recieve your ‘07….Just wondering.
I’m with you War Eagle, I hope they have all the crap worked out before they put my Rubi together too.:yup:
Hi,
I have been waiting for my 4dr Sahara Unlimited with the Freedom Top for 15 weeks now (ordered Oct 2, 2006). I have not been given a VIN # either. After reading about all the leak issues, I asked my dealer to modify my order to the soft top instead. He said if I modify my order I would be placed at the end of the queue. I am paying $27,153. The only options I ordered were the Freedom Top and Front Side air bags. Most of the dealers in my area in Northern CA are asking around $7000 above MSRP. When I talked to my dealer on Jan 12th he said I would be lucky to get my Jeep before the end of February.
With all the leak issues I am wondering if this is still worth the wait….and why is mine taking so much longer than everyone else’s?
Thanks so much for all your postings this site is very helpful.
Wow- $7,000 over MSRP….that’s crazy.
I’m paying $28,167.00, for a Sahara with most of the options, including MyGig. $1,600 or $1,700 UNDER MSRP.
Anyone having problems with 2007 2-dr. Wrangler with automatic transmission shuttering around 35 to 40 mph? It seems to be going in to 4th gear to soon and not downshifting back into 3rd gear. You get a torque converter shutter. Please committ if anyone is having the same problem.
waiting in CA - I ordered 10/3 my sahara with freedom top and recieved vin # around mid november. The car came 12/23. I suggest you have your dealer print out your order with all model, options, date ordered, status code, etc. You should have had a vin # when I did. The only reason you would not is if you had the rubicon or the my gig. Something is wrong with your dealer. I had my dealer print out my complete order showing date, etc. When the vin# came he sent it to me so that there was no way my vehicle could come in and be sold to someone else.
Williams,
There’s a technical service bulletin #TSB 18-036-06
that your Jeep may fall under. Here is a link to a conversation about it..http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1224
You may need to have your jeeps computer flashed in order to fix your problem.
Good luck
Everyone,
I’ve posted here a few times before. I ordered a 4dr Sahara with freedom top and many extras on 11/11/06. Picked it up last Wednesday 1/10/07. Dealer had just washed it when I pulled in and we took it for a test drive. Water immediately starting dripping from the front edge of the two panels where they meet. Obviously wasn’t happy but since a friend dropped me off and left, taking the jeep was the only way home. Could actually see a gap between the rubber seal of the two front panels. Took them off and while putting the driver side back on pushed on the panel from the drivers side toward the passengers side and locked it down. haven’t had a single drop come in since. Rained over 2 inches during the weekend and I put 500 miles on it. Everything else is just fine. Rides great, very quiet, great stereo. Just like this jeep thru and thru. For those of you having leaking problems try reseeding the front panels and giving a slight push inward on the drivers panel while latching everything down. Hope it works!
Completely satisfied new Jeep owner!!!!

Has anyone else ordered the Front Side Airbags and received their Jeep yet? I am just wandering if that is the hold up on my order.
Thanks
That good to hear. Ed. I spoke to my dealer today…still waiting for a delivery date. Says he is “checking everyday” and expects to hear this week. I am thinking Late March early April, but that is just a guess based on what I have read here.
hey i am a curent owner of a 05 jeep and i’ve just looked at all the things ya’ll are saying is wrong with the jeeps. can anyone tell me if it’s worth it now to order one or just fine one on the lot thats good? thanks for the help

I ordered a x softtop4×4 jeep 1/5. I got FFP, freiends and family pricing, lower than invoice from the dealer in Delaware. They were an hour away but for some reason the only dealer to have about a dozen 4 doors on the lot and make this kind of deal on a order. I got it for $22.5k with the good stereo, auto, power package, limited slip, Serious radio, step bars, red rock, and more.
I got some great info here. Will call and see if I have a VIN.
Does anyone have opinions on if the Jeep splashguards are tacky or will get in the way mild off roading?
Correction to my previous. My deal is $25,408 FFP with any dealer accessories (window bags, splash guards, etc) at dealer cost.
Invoice is $25,663 and MSRP is $27,003.
waiting in ca: I have the air bags and as I posted to you everything else available was on my sahara 4×4 (upgraded stereo with sirius) I just don’t have the my gig or the rubicon. I even got the 4.1 and the rear slip differential and 17″ wheels. I just don’t understand why you don’t have yours (not even a vin#) when we ordered the same date. I think its your dealer.
Aggie: I don’t know about the 2005 because my other jeep is older but this 2007 is really great and I am not having the problems some others have. It was well worth the wait and the extra room
How long does it take to get a VIN. My dealer said he put the order in early last week and expects to get info on a projected delivery date this week.
I ordered the Sahara 4×4, Rescue Green, 18 inch wheels, hard top; rear lsd; Mygig; locking fuel cap and tow package.
oh yeah, it is the unlimited, just to be clear.
I just ordered my Rubicon Unlimited as follows:
2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4×4
Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat
3.8-Liter V6 Engine
4-Speed Automatic Transmission
Freedom Top 3-Piece Black Hard Top
Dual Top Group (includes black soft top)
Power Convenience Group
Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows
AM/FM CD MP3 Nav Radio (MYGiG)
Trailer Tow Group
Supplemental Front Seat Side Air Bags
Locking Fuel Cap
My dealer said it’ll take about 10-12 wks to get in. Sounds about right from what alot of you have written.
To quote Brian “My dealer said it’ll take about 10-12 wks to get in.”
Brian, I live in CT, I ordered my four door Rubi with 6 speed manual trany, dual tops, and 6-disk changer, (no side air bags for anyone intrested) on 11-11, and at that time I was told it would take about 8-10 weeks for it to come in. I got a call from my dealer yesterday and he told me that now it looks like my Rubi isn’t going to be built until some time in March, so I won’t be seeing it until April at best.
Just thought I’d let you know.
CHOPPER
I forgot to add that my dealer does not have a VIN# yet either.
From all I have heard, the 4 door Rubi’s are taking longer than all others.
Looks like I’ll be here a long while, huh?
I also had the same question about “How long does it take to get a Vin# once order is placed?”
I placed my order with the deal Nov. 15th however it did not get accepted into the system until Jan. 3rd because I ordered it with the My Gig which I knew had late availability. But now that I know it was accepted as of Jan 3rd. shouldn’t I have a Vin by now?
I ordered a Sahara Unlimited pretty much loaded.
(dual tops, tow package, side airbags, My Gig, slip dif. etc.)
I can’t stand this waiting….
Do any of you have the phone# or website I can go to so I can check my order in the future?
oo7Dive- I ordered almost exactly the same vehicle on Jan 4..without the side airbags or dual tops. Otherwise I ordered the hardtop and all options you did.
I do not have a delivery date or VIN. Will advise when I hear something.
Brian; this is from the JK-forum.com website about phone number and order status you asked for: Hope it helps you all. Good luck
If you’ve got a JK on order and want to know what the status of it is, here’s what you need to do.
If you have a VIN or a VON off your order sheet (which you wouldn’t unless your order was in “D” status), you can call 1-800-992-1997. Follow the prompts, stay on the line for an operator, and they can look it up for you.
Below is a complete list of Chrysler status codes that should help you figure out what it means:
ORDER STATUS CODES
BB - review by fleet department
BD - special equipment processing
BE - edit error
BG - passed edit n/a for schedule
BGL - edit ok parts unavailable
BX - passed edit available for schedule
C - sub firm
D - firm schedule - dealer has allocation and all parts available
D - 1 gateline schedule - scheduled to be built
E - frame
F - paint
G - trim
I - built not ok’d
J - built ok’d
JB - shipped to body vendor
JE - emission check
JS - shipped to storage
KZ - released by plant , invoiced
KZL - released - not shipped
KZM - first rail departure
KZN - first rail arrival
KZO - delayed/recieved
KZOA - plant holds
KZOB - zone/distribution holds
KZOC - carrier delays
KZOD - carrier holds
KZOE - mis-shipped vehicle
KZOF - show/test vehicle
KZOG - damaged vehicle
KZOH - all other reasons
KZT - second rail departure
KZU - second rail arrival
KZX - delivered to dealer
ZA - canceled
I saw the phone number on another Forum. If I come across it again. You do need the VON (Vehicle Order Number)
WAREAGLEINMD- That would be great if you can let me know when you get your Vin…I will let you know if and when I get mine. I am anxious to get the Vin so I can track it through the system. I really hate depending on the dealer to keep me informed. They haven’t been very helpful with anything thus far.
I’m going to purchase a 07 Unlimited Rubicon soon so when refering to dealers who are not responding to your needs please list in case they are here in So Cal so I can avoid them. My cousin has been building these things for thirty years and I am going to finally buy one. Good luck on your deliveries.
oo7- thanks. I will do.
My dealer has been very very responseve. My first ever ordered vehicle and it has been a great experience. Seems knowledgeable. Certainly cannot control the delivery date and delay in building.
Danasocal-My dealer is in Northern CA.
2 weeks an still no D status…..per my dealer this am.
Woohoo!! Even though my estimated ship date was for the 17th, and as you can guess, my JK has not shipped yet, I’m happy to report that it is at least in G status now and hope to see it soon
Eddie
I just got a sahara 4dr for christmas and i was wondering if i should get a lift or not
I was just notified that I am in D status. Waiting for D - 1. Not sure what the wait time is no.
At least there is movement.
And I have an Order number….Yahooo…..
SO I have heard that you cannot use an aftermarket exhuast on long arm kits for the JK, you have to have a custom one made true?
How well do the CDI boxes work?
Wareaglemind-Congrats!!!
On getting your order number and getting to D status. Someday I will be as happy as you are.
I am going to have to call my dealer and see what the heck is the problem for mine.
Keep us posted as to your progress.
I just got off the phone with my dealer…
I am in BX status…still haven’t moved to D yet.
I will check again the end of next week.
Hello everyone,
I’m still in D status. I call in about 3 times a week. I ordered just prior to Thanksgiving. 07 Rubi Unlimited dual tops auto. Went to BX about 4 weeks later, then back to B the week after that, modified order to include MyGig, went to D status 2 weeks after that. Got a VIN on 1.4.07, been at D Status since then.
To make the call-ins a little easier, I documented all of the menu responses which I’m placing in this posting. You have to wait a moment for the menu’s to shift to a point at which they are taking prompts, which is usually just a few seconds, but once you get good at it, you can get through the menu’s lightening fast.
Also, ask for a reference number after your first call if they don’t give you one. When you give them the reference number on your next call it spares you having to give them your address and phone number and all the stuff.
Here are the prompts to get through to a person if you have your VIN# and want to check your “Vehicle Order Status”
Have your VIN.
The stuff in parentheses is based on your own VIN number.

Hello again everyone.
I almost forgot, a long time ago I set up an Ebay Favorite Search for the 2007 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited and this morning I got the very first notice about one. They must finally be arriving at the dealers. The buy it now price on this one is jacked up if you ask me, considering it’s soft-top only and, no MyGig.
The dealer is billing it as the first one for sale in the country! In theory he’s obviously referring to one that was built for the dealer as opposed to ordered by one of us.
Still, it certainly photographs well!

Scott
Scott,
In response to your ebay search and subsequent results, that dealer is full of crap regarding having the first unlimited rubicon. I currently drive a 2007 unlimited rubicon that I purchased off the Jeep Dealership lot back in the middle of October, 2006. Mine is loaded with everything except the MyGig. Maybe I should send him pics. And yes, he has the price jacked up. But with EBAY, you can just about say what you want up to a point and someone will fall for it. At least with forums like this, people know the truth….Kent
Well put Kent.
What color is yours?
I’d love to see some picts myself.
Scott
Found this on rockcrawler.com today. Thought you guys might enjoy, and/or it’s going to drive you crazy if you’re waiting like me!

Ooops. Those are old pictures. Sorry. I can’t delete the post.

Scott,
send me an email to kandjsherrill@msn.com and I will send you some pics. Thanks, Kent
Okay, for those of you who have been waiting for the Freedom Top TSB to come out, click on the link below:

Does anyone know when the first Mygig’s will roll off the line in the Wrangler?
does anyone here have any thoughts on a security system. When I last owned a Wrangler, I had 2 stereos stolen before I was smart enough to get one that could be removed from the vehicle.
Now, I am getting the MyGig…. I wonder how long that will last?
Is there such a security system that would go off if someone climed into the interior of my jeep. I imagine it would have to be some sort of motion sensor. Am I crazy?
this will be the third time going to the dealer to fix the leaking problem.!!!!!!!!!
I have an Unlimited Rubicon scheduled for dealer delivery on 2/16/07. It’s currently on Plant Hold, whatever that means, but I do have a VIN. Anyone know which of the older Jeep wheels has the exact same dimensions, including offset or backspace? I need to carry a 2nd spare and I don’t want to pay for a 6th new rim from dealer. There are plenty of old ones on eBay and Craig’s list, but I’m not sure which will be correct. Thanks
The old wranglers used a 5 on 5 ½ bolt pattern. The JK uses a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, so the Jeep dealer or an after market manufacturer will be your only options.
The latest from my dealer today…
“The status has not been updated yet. The hard tops are on restriction, but your order got scheduled because I was able to get somebody to push it through. As soon as they can built it to specifications, meaning that they have a hard top to put on it, it will go ‘gateline’ (D1).”
Anyone heard that hartops are still on restriction….
Scott: Thanks so much for the phone menu shortcuts - they are very handy!
I have finally received my VIN on my 4dr Sahara…and guess what I am in KZM status - yeah! (Ordered Oct 2, 2006).
I will let you all know when it arrives.
Scott, good news…How long from d to d-1….
SCOTT: THANKS FOR THE MENU SHORTCUTS FROM DAVE.
ORDERED GREEN 4-DOOR RUBI ON OCT. 20, NOW IN JS STATUS!
SHIP DATE IS 1-26-07!
SWEET!
The latest from my dealer
“The information I received today (unofficial), your Wrangler is tentatively scheduled to be built on Feb 2. If that happens, I will then receive an estimated ship date. I will keep you updated.”
I’ll keep my fingers crossed…
waitinginca: Did you order the my gig with your car? Just trying to find someone who has a car shipping that ordered mygig to see if they are coming yet.
anyone if you get a wrangler with mygig please let me know
thx
kat
Mine was ordered with a MyGig….I read job 1 on Mygig is Jan 29…. should not be any out there yet
kathy: no MyGig on my Sahara…just the supplementary airbags and Freedom Top
The Chicago Tribune reported on Sunday, that Jeep has a 20,000 unit back log on 4-door JKs.
I tow my jeep behind a motorhome. In anticipation of timely delivery of my 07, I sold my 97. Has anyone found a tow bar that will fit on the 07 Rubicon. Roadmaster indicates that the Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect interferes with the receiver for the tow bar. They are waiting to see an 07 Rubicon in their engineering department before they design a fix. Blue Ox claims to have a tow system, but I would sure like to hear from someone who has installed unit. Between late 07 deliveries and finding a tow bar, I fear my June jeeping vacation might be at risk.
How many Jeeps do they produce a day…20k unit back order might not be that bad.
The article below at this web site talks about production numbers. Hope it helps.
http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061130/BUSINESS02/611300359
Hey everyone,
Glad the phone menus are helping out. WAREAGLE, I’m still at D. Been at D since sometime the first week of this month. It’s encouraging to hear others are getting production codes. Most having ordered a few weeks before me. My order was right before Thanksgiving.
My guess is this, and it’s just a guess. With the Technical Service Bulletin out on the tops, I would guess that they had to retool production for any tops made from this point forward and that anyone who ordered one, after DC found out about the leak problem, got held until that could happen. Additionally, my dealer has told me that NOTHING has come in to his shop with MyGigs. That includes the Sebring and the Nitro which are both supposed to have it. He also said he has 4 Rubicons held up with mine, all Dual Top orders. So I’m thinking that both the MyGig and the Freedom Top retro fit were delaying things, but are either just now sorted out or about to be. My guess is that they are sorted out based on the posting here, it seems like the production train might finally be leaving the station.
I’ll keep you posted on my status.
Scott
Ordered on Nov 18, 2006 and just put on KZ (released by plant, invoiced)today. Dealer stated I should be behind the wheel in a week. Just under 3 months. Not so bad for a custom order, right? 2dr Rubicon with all options excluding side air bags and MiGig.
Hello all, Well….I told you I would update you today on my status. Unfortunetly no new news. Still in BX status.
WAREAGLE-Glad to hear you moved up and actually have a build date. I was really hoping to have the same info but no such luck.
When I get a new status I will let you all know. I agree I think the hardtops are more of a hold up than the My Gig right now…time will tell.
I have a 2007 Rubicon 4 dr. ordered Sep 15 recieved Dec 18. Does any one know who is making tube doors for the front and rear. Need to get ready for summer.
Here’s a link to a thread on the forum about doors. Hope it helps.
http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=810&highlight=Tube+doors
Does anyone know where I can get a winch mounting plate that will
bolt directly to the stock 07′ Wrangler bumper? I have a Warn 8000 winch from my 04′ Wrangler but can’t locate a mounting plate.
I’m not much impressed with the selection of after market bumpers that are out there so far. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Dave
Has anyone considered or tried ordering their jeep from stock with a softtop and then also ordering a freedom top at time of sale for later delivery by the dealer? Will dealers do that? I found a Sahara I might purchase with the only issue being no freedom top. Also, anyone know if they will soon be an after market item?
Also, one blog had a comment about the Sirius radio option - if they option is Sirius included is it all installed and ready to go in terms of any antenna? Just wanted to be sure it wasn’t the case that the radio is equipment and services is provided but something else is needed.
Great thread on this site!
I have the Sirius radio option in our 2007 2 dr Wrangler X and it was working on delivery of the vehicle with nothing extra being added. I guess we are one of the lucky ones with the Freedom Top as we haven’t had any leaks, roof off three times and have run it through car wash in mid teen temperatures, we have a heated garage. Live in Wisconsin, no air or water leaks in the cold temperature. Our problem is, we are on our third windshield, which includes factory installation. I guess we have a rock magnet.
I paid 30K + tax & license fees for a 2-dr blk rubicon. It is equipped with dual tops, 6 disc cd, tinted windows and side air bags.
I have the leaking roof problem with my freedom top as well. I then removed the top and placed it back on, but it would still leak. Then I shifted the top pieces forward(as close to the top windshield as possible) and locked down both front clips, then turned/locked all the latches and finally manually turned the two knobs down. I then spray/pore “a lot” of water onto the roof and the leaking stopped. It seems that the tops are not snug fit, leaving a lot of room which caused a potention water leaking.
MYGIG is now available as an option when you build a jeep on http://www.jeep.com….. that is a good sign. It was available last year, unavailable for may months then back up in the last day or 2.
I heard Job 1 was today. Still hoping my Jeep will be buit Friday…..
Yippeee!!!!! Thanks for the update on My Gig being back up on the Jeep website. I knew today was Job 1 date but was still skeptical, but if Jeep has it back up then HOPEFULLY it is a go this time….Maybe that means my status will start moving soon.
BX for now…..I hope this My Gig was worth the weight. Watch it get stolen the first week I have my JK! All of us ordering them are probably nuts….do they make a “club” to put on the thing…hee hee.
Okay! I just got an email from my dealer saying that my jk is scheduled to be built on Feb 6th. Does anyone have an approx wait time from a build date? Any info is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Brian- I have a build date of Feb 2…I am looking for the same info….
007Dive-I am worried about it getting stolen as well. Not sure what to do.
Thanks wareagleinmd, hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer for our jk’s.
Update since yesterday - new jeep! Unlimited X w/freedom top and soft top, tow group, power options, 17 wheels, etc, etc.. quick review - I LIKE it! I noticed shopping around the Washington, DC area that a lot of dealers with X and Sahara’s on the lot would go about $1,000 to $1,300 under MSRP. Some wouldn’t budge.
I asked the dealer about the top leaking issue. Of course they said the only problems they see are after a customer takes the roof on and off and over tightens those plastic screws on the bar. I guess time will tell….
Congrats Eddie! She’s a beauty…Great website! I check it often and will be in my own JK hopefully in the spring.
Can I call Chrysler with only my order number? anyone…the instuctions above are only for vin number… My dealer has not given me a VIN. I am holding off conta cting the dealer further until Monday. I thought I’d give him a week off. the build date last time I heard was Feb 2. We’ll see.
I don’t think you can get any information without a VIN. At least that’s my understanding.
Scott
You can get your order status with the order number. The bad news is that, if you do not have a VIN, you have yet to reach “D” status.
See the messages above regarding the phone number, prompts, and code definitions.
I am in D, actually, D-1 I think, I was told I have a build date of Feb 2.
My dealer has not given me the VIN. When I asked for the VIN or Order number, He gave me the order number. I decided not to continue to email him daily as he has been stellar to work with and I got a great deal.
I’m holding off to Monday.
thanks all for the comments.
I plan to order my JK next week, but i’m a little fuzzy on the options of:Trac-Lok® Limited Slip Rear Differential $295.00 and Locker Rear Axle $0.00. I understand that a limited slip diff does allow for tight radius turns, but i’m not sure why the locker is a free option. This could just be my opinion on which one I would rather pay for, but I am curious to know if the locker option is considered a spool. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
does anyone know what the largest tire size is that can be put onto a x model without having to add any kind of lift?
thanks
We bought our 07 wrangler x 4dr silver off the lot early dec 06. It has 17s,4:10s,auto,6 disc w/sat,fogs,soft top. We live in calif and allready been wheeling a bunch. Hollister hills,New Idria,Snow, rocky river beds. Take it wheeling all day then jump on the hi way kick on cruise lisen to kick a** tunes or what ever.It rained alot in dec, no leaks. At Hollister we had 850# of people and gear and climbed everything the stock tires would allow. We are really diggin it.Lokking for a good rack for vacation time. Good Luck with yours
007Dive- Anything new with your Jeep?
Nope, not a thing. I called the status line on Friday and I am still in BX. I will check again this Friday and hope to have moved up. Everyone on the forum is saying that things are starting to move along with production lately…So…I will remain opptimistic. Yours should be moving right along now if they started your build on the 2nd. Good luck and keep me posted.
Allocation is out today for dealers. Hard Top Unlimiteds and anything with MyGig is on restriction for March (Built Out).
If you are already in D status before today you have nothing to worry about.

Well CRAP!!!! The above is a quote from a post by Don-a-vee. Looks like I am going to be in BX until March at least. I have the hard top and the my gig and I doubt I managed to go to D over the weekend. I have to tell you…this is getting really old.
I am still in D……..driving me crazy…..
Does anyone have any info on when Jeep will take an order for a 4 door Rubicon with half doors?
I was told that I was in “D” status on 1/10. I didn’t make it to “D-1″ until 2/1. As of yestrday (2/5), I was in “F” (paint).
It’s a good thing that Jeep has great customer loyalty and a unique product.
About to order my first Jeep Wrangler - a four door Unlimited Rubicon. I am struggling between ordering the full door option, with the power package and dual roofs, vs the half doors. I love the clean look of the half doors, but worry that I will regret not having the full doors with power locks and windows. I live in Michigan, so I will have the top up for 7 months of the year. If I go with half doors, my thought was to pick up the Upper Glass Slider from Bestops. Any advise from some experienced Wrangler owners?
Thanks
I just called my dealer to try to add dual tops. I only had the hard top option….. I called DC and was told I am still in D….
I hated the half doors in the winter but that was a ‘93 model. Not sure what if any improvements have been made. Someone cut through the plastic about a month after I got it. Then someone else ripped the zipper apart and broke it.
In a perfect world, I would have both doors. half for summer, full for winter.
Well, after yesterdays dealer allocations I thought I would call this morning and hope I passed through to D status…What a bubble burster to find out not only did I NOT move forward to D status but I have moved backward. I went from BX back to BG!
Nice huh?
Were you able to get a reason.
chris, i have the power group full door sahara 4 doors manual. I really like how quiet it is. I live in snow country in sierras so I understand the 7 month winter. I also have a older wrangler with half doors and am even thinking about getting rid of that and getting a 2 door 08 model. With my half doors in the winter I keep running into the problem in very cold weather that they just open up on their own at times. Always afraid I will forget, turn a corner and the fall out LOL.
I have been fortunate because I don’t have any of the leaking problems or engine recoding issues etc. I would guess that the option of the full door and then looking into stock vs aftermarket half doors would be my recommendation.
I am sorry to hear everyone still waiting. I posted in december my dealer had said that the my gig was going to be a long wait issue but I was hoping he was wrong. I have been purusing many sites and I am still yet to find anyone who has taken a delivery on a vehicle with mygig. Has anyone found someone with it yet? Everytime I hear someone get to build they seem to then get put back on hold. So sorry to hear. I did see an example recently and it wasn’t like the crysler mygig. It seems to be external sitting up on the dash of what already with wranglers is a small window vision. I hope that isn’t the case in the end because I was real dissapointed.
Largest wheel is 18″, they have their very own pattern so you can’t take off other wranglers.
Wareagle-Nope, I asked him about it but he couldn’t answer me as to why it went backward instead of forward. I know many people on the forum have had it happen to them but all of them that I have read it happened to were early orders from Oct. and Nov. Who knows what’s going on…I will just have to wait it out.
kathy - I think that you may be confusing the GPS with MyGig.
Hi All,
After waiting 18 weeks for my Unlimited Sahara it finally arrived last Thursday. We were really enjoying ourselves driving it around during the nice sunny weekend. We had a two inch lift put on it with 20 inch tires and new rims. Everything was great…and then it started to rain. To say the roof “leaks” is an understatement, it basically pours water on to the radio, console area, and seats. I am so disappointed. We have not touched the hard top since delivery. I will try what ‘k9driver’ suggested above tomorrow and see if that helps.
I need to update my name from “waitingInCa” to “soakedInCA”
Thanks again for all the info on this site.
So sorry to hear about the water leak. We all assumed that DC had fixed this by now. I must say I’m shocked to hear it is still a problem. Best of luck getting it worked out. I can’t imagine your disappointment especially after the wait and anticipation of it’s arrival.
anyone know if it’s possible to order the body color fender flares for the rubicon?
anybody have any experience with the new Bestop 2 pc hardtop for the 2007’s?
considering buying a soft-top and then buying they’re hard-top as it looks less prone to leaking, 1 fewer seam.
waitinca- what a shame! Absolutely shocked, the first thing my dealer did before giving me my car was check it and run it through car wash 3 times just to make sure because they are well aware of the problem and they are fixing before release if with the fix order from dc. you poor thing. Good luck, check manual it gives instructions of the proper way to set the roof. don’t over screw either because that has been a problem. If you re set it and it still leaks I would be sitting on dealer door monday screaming!!
Good luck to you.
My dash at the area of the rear window defroster is heating up to almost a burn to the touch. I hadn’t been far but today was driving in rain/snow for 45 minutes when I went to lower the heater a bit I bout burned my fingers. Anyone else find a problem with any shorts or anything??

Kathy, My brother and I both orderd 07 rubicon unlimited’s two weeks ago, fully loaded with mygig, we had heard about the delay as well, but has been cleared up we are told, they are only available in jeep wrangler, dodge nitro, and chrysler sebring. we were guaranteed that they would be in the jeeps when they get to us the last week of march, or they will be free from the dealer. I t does not sit in the dash, what you saw was the portable gps reciever that you can buy from mopar and stick in any vehicle, the mygig is a fully integratedin dash stereo unit. Jon P.S. You can see an upclose picture of it at

But has anyone gotten the MyGig….
Hello everyone,
I am currently am in the Army and In Afganistan.
I ordered a 4 door Rubicon through the millitary sales program Jan 18 ..ordered soft top and half doors with towing package and Mygig. My order has been processed with the factory with a delivery date of late April. That might get pushed back because of the half door issues. Anyone botherd with the half doors?
Yes in case your wondering its JEEP GREEN. This will be my 6 jeep and the 1st one thats not a CJ. Have a CJ-7 now that i will have to sell its going to be tough but have to move on.
I know of all the other jeep sites but this one is very cool
PS. I still need to pay my sales tax when I pick it up from the dealer …but sorry to say with glee you dont want to know what I paid . After 22 years in the military every once in awhile there are perks
Hi All,
We reseated our hard top panels this weekend and that seemed to improve the leaking. While doing that we noticed our vehicle has already received the TSB for the leak (black sponge inserts in various places). The funny thing is ours does not leak in the car wash or with a hose running directly on it. The leaking only happens when you apply the brakes to slow down, then all the water rushes to the middle seam and water comes dripping in on the radio. This is much better than the stream we had last week, but it is still annoying. We have an appt with Jeep tomorrow to take a look at it. Hopefully they will be able to do something for us. If not, shoving a sponge up there seems like it would solve the problem.
Inspite the leaks…we love every other aspect of the Jeep.
my burning dash update. So it apparently has nothing to do with the rear window defroster. We think it has to do with the power supply. It happened when I had the rear window defroster, heater and plugged in to charge my cell phone. My husband thought I was crazy when he drove with me. I kept telling him but it didn’t heat up again. At the last 5 miles I plugged in my phone and started to get the reaction again. This weekend we are going on a 1500 mile trek and we should find the problem. Anyone else hear of a problem of hot to touch at the area around detroster, air condition or heater dial from a cell phone charging?
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has more information on/has experienced the the automatic trans shutter around 40 mph. As mentioned in an earlier post, I have had technical service bulletin #TSB 18-036-06 applied to my 4 door Sahara. The fix helped, but did not eliminate the problem. Its more of an annoyance than a problem, but was wondering if anyone had further comments.
Thank you,
Tony
Hi Jon: Yes I originally saw this Sept 2006 article. Since then I have heard that the voice command and bluetooth would not be on the jeep because the microphone is in the rear view mirror and since the window folds down they couldn’t do it. That left mainly the navigational/GPS. Hope they determined some other place than the mirror for the microphone because just the navigational is really not a big deal. I can run that program and gps from a hand device alot cheaper. Unfortunately so far I still haven’t heard of a jeep arrving with mygig so I am in wait and see mode.
thx, kathy
Hello All,
Just checking in. I’m still at D, but 2 of the other 4 Rubi’s at my Dealer have gone to D-1 so I’m optimistic. I am awaiting an 07 Rubi Unlimited with dual tops and MyGig.
In all this waiting, I’ve found the bumper I want. I’ve looked at a lot, and it’s obviously an aesthetic choice, but I think this one might be the king. What do you guys think? I think it looks the most OEM.
http://www.quadratec.com/products/12049_1000_T.htm
I love the lights too, but it costs a fortune. I’m wanting a nice 9500 mosfet Warn with Amstel winch line, and then those IPF lights. I got word today from the guys at AEV, where the bumper is from, that the IPF lights are far superior to the other brands with much more robust all-weather durable wiring harnesses.
http://www.quadratec.com/products/97018_501.htm
The guys at AEV said IPF offers an HID solution too, but that HID was much better for snow, but not rain, or bad paint on the streets which is what we have around my neck of the woods.
Well, I’m rambling. How long must I WAIT?!
It’s ironic Chrysler is laying off so many people today with our Jeeps back-ordered.

Hello All,
Well, I’m still at D status, but 2 of the 4 back-ordered Rubicon’s at my dealer have moved to D-1 so I’m optimistic!
I’ve been using all this waiting time to spend as much imaginary money as possible on getting my rig expedition ready. I’ve looked at all of the after-market bumpers with winch mounts, and I’m definitely digging this one from AEV. It looks OEM, it’s the best built and it has a place for old-school lights and a between the rails winch mount, where I’m hoping to install a Warn 9.5si with Amsteel Blue winch cable.
http://www.quadratec.com/products/12049_1000_T.htm
I also found out today, for those of you looking at off-road lights, that IPF seems to be the best on the market. Every one makes well built lights and housings, but IPF has superior wiring harnesses. I guess the IPF harnesses are better suited for serious off-roading and long-term wear and tear.
http://www.quadratec.com/products/97018_501.htm
Well, enough day-dreaming.
Hope those of you with real Jeeps, instead of imaginary ones like mine is right now, are having fun.
I’m having to rent a 4wd this weekend to deal with the inclement weather in the NY/NJ/PA area. I’d much rather be driving my new Rubicon.

07 Rubi Unlimited Steel Blue
Scott,
Nice bumper…that is pretty much the styling I am looking for also, however I have been hoping to find one like that for a little less money…is that possible? I am going to keep looking maybe I will get lucky and find something.
There are a lot of choices out there and the AEV is definitely one of the more expensive ones. The very, very important thing to me was retaining the factory airbag crush cans. A lot of the bumpers don’t offer that. Part of the reason I wanted a new car was I wanted a safer one for me and my wife to drive and the airbags were a huge part of it, which we’ve not had in a car before.
That being said, there are plenty of bumpers to look at quadratec.com and other websites. One that is interesting is the Beststop HIghrock bumper that has a rock roller in the front of it to ease collisions with rocks on approach.
http://www.highrock4×4.com/pu/approach-roller.html
It’s about half the price of the AEV, and there’s a pretty cool, if not aggressive looking Warn one that is also about half the price of the AEV.
I had one from Bulletproof Manufacturing on my old CJ (Pictured higher up on this thread in a link) and I believe it’s one of the best built ones on the market, but they haven’t come out with their JK bumper yet, although I know they are going to.
Again, I’m not sure if any of these other ones still work with the airbag system.

Status Update
Well I spoke with my Dealer today. I’m still at D status, for almost 6 weeks now. The 2 Rubi’s that shipped to my dealer where both sticks, and neither one had MyGigs.
He seemed to think that the Auto’s hadn’t been rolled out yet and then he heard another rumor about a MyGig hold up, which I have of course ordered.
He does not seem to be completely informed, at least not as informed as most of us who participate in this forum, so take anything he says with a grain of salt.
Scott
My sales guy is checking with his district rep to try and find more about the hold on the My Gig. I’m not sure if mine is still being held up due to the My Gig or the Freedom Top shortage, I mean I was in BX two weeks ago then moved back to BG and still sitting there. If I EVER hear back from him I will post and let you know what I find out. At this point, still in BG and waiting…………….Plenty of time to shop around for bumpers and other goodies. I agree with needing a bumper that recognizes the air bags…otherwise, what’s the point in having them.
I did the BX BG dance once myself, before going to D.
I placed my order the week before Thanksgiving.
Steel Blue Rubicon Unlimited w/Dual Tops and MyGig.
I got mine on the 5th on February. I did not order it, i had to take it how it came so i could not get the color or stick shift that i wanted. I am not sure about the My-Gig option. i do know the vehicle was one of the first delivered to the zone i am in ( South Jersey). I want to really trick this out, i saw the AEV bumper and i like a lot about it, did anyone see the Hood that AEV makes? Is this something i will need to worry about? Excess heat?
WOOOO HOOOO!!! I finally picked-up my JK this evening - ordered on 11/3/06. It is freakin’ sweet. Be patient - definitely worth the wait.
2007 4-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4×4
Red Rock Pearl
Manual Transmission
Black Hard Top
I asked about MyGig’s availability (I plan to add) and the dealer said, “next month”.
I’ll be sure to report any problems with the top or anything else that pops up.
congratulations to you both….I wish I was celebrating too!
Have fun with em!
???? What is (My-Gig)????
Congrats guys!
My gig is the Navigation System that Jeep is offering. It has yet to be built in a JK….all of us waiting for My Gig have had a long wait and still don’t see light at the end of the tunnel. They keep delaying the release of it.
Here is a link to it featured in the Nitro.(I think you will have to cut and paste this link into your browser)
http://www.dodge.com/en/nitro/interior.html?feature=mygig
I ordered my Rubi the middle of Nov, still sitting in BG status, I called DC to try and get a more accurate response and after he told me the same information I already had, he put me on hold to get more info from my Dealer. I later called my dealer and he confirmed that the guy called him looking for an update. Can you believe that?! Anyway, still waiting and all the pictures I have seen make it look worth the wait, I hope so.
One last thing, does anyone know when the model year will change? That would suck to wait 6 months for a brand new Jeep that would be 1 year old when we drive them off the lot and then the 08’s come out 2 months later.
The 2008’s can be ordered starting in August with first arrivals in September according to Jeff Sladick at Don-a-Vee. I asked him the same question a few weeks ago.
Well, I have quite an update…
My salesman called me today, whom I trust, and told me that his dealership had received a letter from DC stating that the MyGig system was indeed still being held up. This letter added that customers with pending MyGig orders would be delayed for an undetermined amount of time and that those customers may want to consider removing the MyGig’s from their order to expedite completion of their build. He also said, to give me some inside info, that the dealership could not modify the order directly, but they had to email the request to a central location somewhere who in turn modified the order. Because I had long ago though the MyGig would be massively delayed, I negotiated the installation of thesystem AFTER I got my Jeep for zero labor cost and at the sticker price it would have been if I had ordered it initially, I simply reverted back to that deal. My order was submitted for a change today. When the MyGig comes out, the dealership will install it for me as though it was part of my original order. The only thing I haven’t negotiated and might be talking to him about tomorrow is deducting the cost of the stereo system it’s shipping with from the cost of the MyGig system.
He seemed to think that this change in order may mean that I would finally move, after 6 weeks, from D to D-1 or better, as his other customers had.
He also offered me a Jeep Green 6 Speed w/o MyGig that is coming in soon and the original customer may be backing out on. (There’s a tip for you guys). I ordered Steel Blue and Auto. The Green stick is shipping with all available options except side air bags (which I had requested, but only protect you if the hard doors are on) and the engine block heater which is only for extremely cold conditions. While I am very tempted to take the Green one, which I have dibs on if the other guy backs out, I had very much wanted an Automatic for off-roading. All of my CJ-7’s were sticks and there is no feeling of terror like the one you get on a 40 degree incline when your engine stalls out and in a stick. Automatics just creep better.
So that’s everything I know for now. Maybe I’ll take the stick anyway. I like the Green too.
BUT, my Steel Blue Automatic may move up in status as soon as next week once the MyGig is removed from the order.
You can bet I’ll be bringing up the 08 year change as well.
Hope this info helps everyone. Let’s get on the road!!!!!!
Whatever it takes.
Best,
Scott
i had to wait a week and a half for my 2007 jeep jk rubicon and i have to say this jeep is the sickes thing i have ever driven and i drive a 45 ton loader for work. i had to get the rubicon becasue the saraha is only a few grand less and dosnt have any of the offroading shit. i love the locking difs with those engaged its fucking unstopable and not haveing to get out to disconnect the the sway bar is pimpin. my buddys got a early 90’s yj with a 4 inch suspention, lift 3 inch body lift and hes runnin on 33″ bf goodrich mud turrain tires and i still have to go in first. so all and all i fucking love my jk and urge anyone getting a jeep that you want to take off road and still have people taking a second look get the rubicon i garentee you will love it the second you sit in it
Nice jesse, its cool that you like your new rubicon and all but I don’t think you ordered it and got it 1 1/2 week later. It was probably already on it’s way to the dealer and they fulfilled your request with it. Anyway, enjoy and remember that if your on the trail some of us bring our small children with us and please be considerate of others when expressing your verbal enthusiasm. Thanks.
I ordered my 4-door black Rubicon January 20th. It has My Gig and dual tops. I am stuck in BG status just like the rest of you. Yesterday DC actually told me I was in between BG and BX whatever that means. I any case, today I am still in BG. Good luck to everybody. The sooner I see you people that have been waiting longer than me, the sooner I might get mine moving along.
you guys should consider yourselves very lucky.I live in Ontario, Canada and ordered my 4-door wrangler three months ago and my dealer still hasn’t even been told by Chrsler even when they will be making/shipping to Canada. But i am still anxiously waiting. It will be my first jeep.
thanks
Initially ordered 4-door rubicon - dual tops - no mygig (I prefer my Garmin with XM that we take in the motorhome and then just hook into our tow vehicle) Sept 8 - changed order to auto trans due to knee problems Oct 25 - changed to D status early Jan - still in D today - 2 months later. DC suggested that they believe the build date (D-1) might be around March 10th. Dealer said that if this does happen - I might see the vehicle by early May.
I too wonder about the 2008s as I might actually see mine the a couple of months before they are released! Mentioned that to both DC during a call and the dealer. Dealer suggested that at the price I am getting it at - and the price they are expecting for the 08s - I will still be a very happy camper - as long as it doesn’t rain!
Thanks for the forum as this is about the only reasonable source of information for us out there!
Spoke with my dealer again, all he can say is that production has been pushed back until March. He is not even sure what that means, (delivered or start building then). Anyway, he did say that even if my Jeep comes in the month of March, he will give me the option to wait and order an ‘08 (great guy). As we were standing by an automatic Rubi he had on the lot we noticed the problem that some people have pointed out about the rain gutter that directs the water to the opening of the door if it is open. I also noticed how the front panels of the hard top do not align perfectly (this may be the leak issue as previously stated). The Bestop 2 piece is looking to be a real possibility even at the cost they want for it. There is also a few TSB’s on this home page for things I hadn’t heard about. With all the “little” problems with this thing I may elect to wait and see if they fix them all with the next year. Good luck everyone.
Finally got my 4 door silver rubi in yesterday!!! woo woo! For those of you still waiting, All I can say is hang in there. It’s totally worth the wait!
Congrats Carlos. When did you order?
HOLY COW!
I got a build date! Finally. My Thanksgiving order of my Steel Blue Rubi Unlimited is set to be built on March 9th. The secret to my success? Removing the MyGig from my order. Hopefully I’ll have the actual vehicle in a couple of weeks. Which means that the other Green 6 Speed one that I mentioned in an earlier post may be up for grabs if anyone wants to buy it!
I’m putting a MyGig in later.
Scott
YEAH SCOTT!! As I mentioned in my earlier post that is what I did when I ordered last October, just didn’t do the my gig because my dealer said it was a problem child.
Took our 1500 mile trip and really enjoyed ourselves. We had mountain snows, metropolitan freeway, sand dunes, winds, rains (unfortunately not time for trails). Only nervous time was with winds. They didn’t seem that terrible but with the high profile it made the jeep push everyway. With the wind at the back we avg 23 mpg. On the way back with a head wind we only avg 18.6 mpg. Real strange sensation to have a manual on cruise and hit head winds that kept jerking the car back. The cargo room was the amazing part. Because of the roof so high we were able to fit a ton in the back without loosing the back seat. 4 golf bags, 1 large suitcase, 2 smaller, laptop, sleeping bag, couple back packs!! I have had a large SUV since 1998 and it never held this amount in just the cargo space. We always had to lower one of the split seats in the back and that was without the golf clubs! We went through a huge rain storm with thunder and lightening and never had a roof problem or door water. I still haven’t taken the roof off since I got the jeep in December so the test of its ability is not complete. The seats were comfortable, the sirus was great, the extra electric output ran my computer GPS and maps easily off my laptop. I rented a Nissan Xterra while waiting for my jeep for a 800 mile trip and was in pain after 100 miles. We had no problem doing 400 miles at a time and still able to stand, walk and golf.
Good luck and enjoy

I ordered mine Nov 15th in Wallaceburg, Ontario and am in the same boat as you, no indication at all when it may be built. Another guy at work bought an Unlimited X off the lot and now I just spend my breaks staring at it!
Hello All. Just stumbled across this board and was impressed with how nice everyone seems to be. Many message boards have a bunch of mean people these days, so this is a refreshing change. My question is really kinda odd. I currently own an 04 Wrangler Sahara edition. This is my 3rd one. My lease is up in several months and I am really confused about what I want. Here is the deal: A lot has changed in my life. I am currently in my 30’s, mid level management and travel by car each day for my job. I live in the 3 county area of South Florida - Fort Lauderdale, Miami and West Palm Beach. There are some days when I drive 150 miles in just one day. Lots of driving on the Florida Turnpike. As much as I love my 04, its getting to be torture. On long drive days, I come home with a splitting headache from the wind noise on the soft top ( you have to drive 90mph in SFL to stay alive ). Forget space, taking clients out to lunch, and keeping my laptop in it, or talking on the cellphone - none of those things will happen. But…then the weekend will roll around and I fall in love with it all over again. Its a real love hate relationship.
So here is my odd question: for all of you who have the new 4 door unlimited, do you think this might cure my problem? I am looking at a 4 door with hardtop and wondering if this might be the cure. Is there anyone who drives a lot like me? Is it comfortable for 150 miles per day? Sadly, the dealers here arent allowing test drives unless you are ready to start negotiations. i am thinking the 4 door with hardtop would still allow me to own a jeep, hopefully be more quiet, comfortable, room for 4, secure etc… I will take any and all opinions. I want to be well armed when I do head in to the dealership to turn in my 04. Thanks everyone.
Hi Allen,
I think that you would do just fine with the 4 Door Hard-top. I am assuming gas mileage isn’t an issue for you; although mine gets approx 23mpg on the highway. I have to say, I am most impressed (other than just how darn cool this thing is overall) with how quiet and smooth it is during highway driving. FYI I have the 4 door Sahara with the hard top (dual-top). I would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.
Good Luck,
Tony
Allen,
That is very unfortunate that your dealerships won’t let you test drive the vehical. It’s a jeep, not a $100k + automobile. Anyway, I found myself in a similar situation, in that I always wanted a Jeep but I had kids and the size just wasn’t practical. Now that the 4 door is out, I went and test drove it (the 2 door also) and it is like night and day as far as the drive is concerned, as far as stability, it is almost like driving a car (doesn’t feel unstable at all), and I think that it is pretty quiet driving down the road. I don’t own mine yet (still on order) but I give it a thumbs up over all previous models for on road driveability. Good luck.
Hey guys,
Welcome new people to this board. Wish I could answer the 4 door jeep question, Allen, and having test driven one, all I can say is this. It’s a Jeep Wrangler. It is the grandchild of the CJ. It has always been designed to get you there, regardless of where there is, and also to be a bad, bad, vehicle. Bad meaning good that is. However, this one is without a doubt, more comfortable than any predecessor in this line. It’s no Cadillac Fleetwood, but it will take you places a Fleetwood will never go, AND it will do it top down with 3 friends (in the unlimited). I mean c’mon! What’s the question!?
Those of you following my saga, I called DC today and my build date has been pushed to 3.20.07. They tell me all is good for that date. Last I heard it was the 8th, but I’ll take the 20th. The representative I spoke to at DC was very nice today, and additionally, she made some very pointed, if not thinly veiled remarks about the holdups. She said things like, “well it might take longer, but they’re just ironing out the bugs.” and “they don’t want to roll into production a vehicle that isn’t ready and have people like me going to the shop all the time for little things.” As well as, “this vehicle might not be ready for production yet.” In spite of all of these nefarious quotes, it was an overall a positive conversation that implied Jeep is doing their level best to make sure everything is right. We ALL know of the top problems, the ECU Flash problems, the rain gutters.
WHATEVER! As long as I can hose it out when necessary I don’t care. These vehicles are about utility, and fun and yes for you, Allen, comfort. (and maybe me too.)
Someday my Jeep will come. Until then. I have my health.
Best,
Scott
I just got a 2007 Jeep Unlimited Sahara 4 door, 4×4, The day I got it the fog light went out and the roof leaked in the same place as everyone else’s. It’s leaking water and you can feel the air coming right in when you get above 50pmh. Got a new light, but the dealer told me it needs to be “leaked proofed” which takes a few days. I’m in the Marines and driving cross country in a few days, What’s the best way to go about getting this fixed?
Finally changed to D-1!
Was told today that my vehicle (4 door white auto rubi dual top loaded except mygig) started its build (D-1) cycle this past Friday (3/2). Original dates back in September with modification to auto on October 25 last year.
However, I was also told that (to add credence to the rumor mill above) the hardtops that had been delayed until April but were now on an “indefinite” restriction. Even the dealership was told of the April date for the hardtops, now they had been told that these orders were on an indefinite restriction (i.e. hold).
I was also told not hold my breath regardless of the D-1 status.
IF there were a few tops laying around that they have found a way to make them work, he said my vehicle might be here within a month or so otherwise - who knows! Boy - doesn’t this sound wonderful!
Actually - YES! I live in Arizona and we need a tow vehicle that will spend time on beaches - in the mountains of Colorado - being towed - and towing - and hauling - grocery runs - carting kids - dogs - and the occassional trip to some pretty neat gorges with real rock climbing - and birm jumping - and skiing trips! With 4 kids (2 in college - 2 in elementary - same family!) and three sled dogs (although I’m certain it isn’t designed for all of this at the same time), I can’t wait to put it through its paces!
I’ll keep you all posted. Good luck to all and best wishes!
Matt; re-set your hard top in the specific order that the manual gives. This may help stop water leak. You should already have at least the new seal that was out since you just got the jeep. Apparently if roof is not placed in exact correct order and seated without OVER SCREWING. It leaks. Thats the best you can do until back to dealer. With all the leak news for months I personally would be furious with any dealer who let one of these drive away without having already done the work order repairs that Jeep put in place. link to TSB for hard top is :
http://project-jk.com/index.php/?p=90
Allen, I too owned an older jeep with soft top. I understand the wind noise. This is comfortable seats, no noise, electric windows and still for play. I mentioned my trip above but forgot that in the back seat was my 16 year old son as well. We all were comfortable. I wanted to fly home for easter but after our 1500 mile trip my husband says NO we will drive the 1500 miles again. PS where are you? Maybe someone in this posting knows a dealer who is not such a jerk in your area. Personally I would tell the guy I am ready to deal, test drive, sit down at the desk to get the price, If the price was $1.00 above what the jeep site (build your jeep quote) is, say no and then order at another dealer or on line. I paid to the penny exactly the price of what I built my jeep for at jeep.com (not includig sales tax and dmv ofcourse)
Anyone have approximate times to expect at the various status codes?? That is at least after you finally hit D-1? Days versus weeks kind of things for E - F - G all the way to K and actual delivery?
After 2 months at D, I have now recieved conflicting dates associated with D-1 and wonder if the indefinite restriction is actually in place. Initially told 3/10, then Monday told 3/2 now today told 3/6 but the computers were “acting up” so they really weren’t sure.
Any info / experience would be much appreciated - Thanks.
Mystery of mysteries.
Well, I’m not sure what’s going on. I thought maybe the hard top thing would be a hold up again for my delivery but…
My sales guy tells me my Jeep is scheduled to ship out tomorrow and that it has been built. Which was actually a day earlier than he had originally anticipated.
The only thing is I called DC yesterday and they told me I wasn’t even going to be built until the 20th and that was a tentative date.
I gotta be honest. I’m baffled. The dealer is getting info contradictory to the DC number. And YES I trust my dealer. He’s a good guy.
I’ll let you guys know what happens. I’m betting on the later date for the build, but that’s only because I’m getting used to disappointment!
So I just called again, before submitting this posting. DC is still telling me a build date of the 20th.
Scott
I ordered my Rubicon (Dual Tops, Mygig) on Dec. 20. I have been in the BG holding pattern since. My dealer (very trustworthy)has been unable to provide any information other than checking the status daily. Does anyone have any additional information on when they will be producing wranglers with these options???
Scott; don’t get too into the DC codes. My dealer had faxed me from the DC computer that I was sitting at D-1 (and I may not build until a month later) and then 15 minutes later he called me all excited because the vehicle had shipped and was due in california in about 2 days. It seems that the DC had not updated even though the car had to have been on a rail car for 3-5 days by this point. It is hard to tell who is right or wrong because the DC you get is just the stupid computer and only as good as the data entry person having updated. I hope your dealer has the better information. Don’t be surprised if one day you think its not going anywhere and the next someone says its arrived.
Yeah!! Today went to D-1 for my Rubicon Unlimited. Delivery date from plant of 3-15. Ordered it in early Sept!! Any suggestions on where to post for sale the 32″ BFG Mud terrain tires and Rubicon rims that come on the vehicle. I will be lifting it and replacing those immediately upon getting vehicle. Thanks!!!
Wow,
Just got an e-mail from my dealer in Chicago. He has my 2 dr red Rubicon, duel tops, on his lot. I ordered it Nov 7, 06. Not bad 4 months. I guess I’ll mosey down there tomorrow and pick it up.
Just a side note, in JP Magazine this month there’s a picture of Jeeps in the desert. The Iraqi army has 2000 new JKs to play with, no wonder it took so long to get ours.
Keep the faith, to all still waiting.
I order my Rubicon Unlimited in October 2006. My Jeep will be delivered on March 16 at the dealership in Austin, Texas. It’s red rock crystal pearl with the black 3-piece modular hardtop (fully loaded except side air bags). I was told at the dealership that it will be the first Rubicon Unlimited delivered in this region with MyGig.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. It sounds like the new unlimited is way more comfortable than my 04. If they ever let me test drive one, I will find out for sure - haha I must confess that my heart skips a beat every time I pass a new one on the highway!
Kathy - I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sadly, of all the places I have lived, South Florida car dealers are the lowest life forms. You would think they would treat me a little better being a 4 time returning Jeep customer - but no ( and I am not hard to get along with
The dealership where I bought my 04 has the elite “5 Star” label, yet I have had to report them to Jeep Corp HQ because they have tried numerous times to charge me for things that were clearly covered by warranty. Each time Jeep HQ has been fantastic and taken care of the situation for me, but I shouldnt even have to do that with a 5 Star dealer. When I went to look at the unlimited, the sales rep told me that they were getting full asking price for every unit, and to come back when I was ready to sign on the dotted line, or place my order for a custom build. No test drive. No worries though, I have a few more months on my 04 lease, so that buys me some time. I must confess though, I am somewhat concerned about all of the postings on the problems with the hardtops. I am going to HAVE to have a hardtop this time around. I will curious to continue reading what develops with this.
PS - Kathy - I have another question for you. I have been to Jeep.com about a hundred times to configure my unlimited, but when I try to configure an “X” model, it gives me barely any options to add whatsoever. Am I missing something here? It will let me option out a Sahara, but not an X. Perhaps I am not doing something right?
I lied…one more question….does anyone know if U Connect will ever be available. That would be a nice option for a hard top. I can understand why they wouldnt want to offer it on soft top, but would rock to have it for hard top.
The saga continues…
If anyone from DC reads these to possibly get some idea how their consumers are handling this - one word - frustrated.
By now you should be able to read into this that there are many of us that have been getting the run-around and the information gaps are worse than the wait. The frustration levels probably wouldn’t be so bad if we could just get accurate information.
Six months ago we made plans for a mountain vacation and some 4-wheeling fun. The vehicle was ordered and deposits were given for the trips and with the “6 - 8 week” availability information on the order, we were told we should have it by Christmas - darn nice present if you ask me!
There were no worries as to whether the Jeep would be here in time for our March / April trip as we were continuously reassured that the issues were being fixed and vehicles were still rolling off the line. Then came the call that the Christmas present would have to wait just after New Year’s (I knew I should have asked for what year!).
Truth was that by New Years we were just hitting D status. Now after sitting at D-1 for just over a week (was told by both DC and the dealership that 3/2 was the scheduled build date), according to the latest - I am still at D-1 and the actual build date is now an unknown.
I am now faced with the fact that we leave in a few days and I must now go out and rent a trailer and another vehicle to tow as our Jeep will not be here in time.
Not that we would have cancelled the order - but knowing this lack of information would exist - and had some realistic expectations been given - we might have changed our trips accordingly rather than hold out hope.
I am truly excited about getting this vehicle someday but for now the frustration has placed a bit of a sour note on the entire process (which I’m certain will disappear once I see it).
I wish that the status was something that the customer could go online and view without having to constantly contact the dealership or DC (and get conflicting information on each call).
If the issues are associated with data entry as some rumors have suggested - place some of the folks answering the calls into data entry as I am certain that many folks would much rather get a login when you order / purchase the vehicle - simply go online whenever - and be able to ACCURATELY see the status - and I’d suggest adding comments and reasons for delays. IF the information could be available - I’m certain more folks would be a lot happier. Look at how much additional customer satisfaction the overnight carriers received once folks could go online and track their package!
We realize there are issues with new vehicles - pioneers sometimes got arrows in their backs too - but just tell us the truth. And yes, most if not all of us can handle it!
I know that changing my order to an automatic back in October (due to knee problems) put in a delay but when asked - no one suggested that it would. Yet after surgery (January), and I wanted to change back to the stick, I was told that although the manual transmissions were being built - any change in my order would cause a many month delay.
Venting time is over…please just get them rolling…and seriously consider a better tracking system!
…by the way…
Thank you so much for this site and the gallery of photos of your delivery (mine should be almost identical) and your trips.
It definitely helps to keep things in perspective and assures us that these aren’t just a figment of our imagination!
Finally.
I don’t have it yet, but it looks like I will soon. When I posted that there was a disparity between the DC number and my dealer, it turned out the dealer info was more accurate. As of today my Wrangler Rubi Unlimited w/dual tops was in G status. Which is trim.
It may come to my dealer as early or next week or the week after. I took the mygig off, but am adding it later. According to my last call with DC it wasn’t even going to be built for another 10 days, but now it IS built and ON IT’S WAY!!!!!
Scott
Ordered a 4 dr Unlimited Rubicon on Jan. 18. Was told it would go into production in March. As of today, March 11, the dealer has no idea when it will go into production. I ordered MyGig and dual tops, so I must have the double whammy working against me. Anyone hear when these issues will be worked out? If May like someone above says, I may just wait another three months and put my ‘08 order in. This might be a pessimistic outlook on things, but my experiences with the service of big companies of late has been abysmal. You can insert (airline), (retailer), (car company) here, and understand my frustration.
Still waiting. Again, I ordered, Rubicon, mygig, dual tops in December. As with you I’m totaly frustrated that can not get a straight answer as to the delay or when expected build date. I’m still at a BG status?? I live in the south and with spring arriving it would sure be nice to have the Wrangler. I’ll be visiting the auto show in Atlanta this week to see if anyone there can answer questions. Good luck to all, lets hope the wait is worth it!
Needed to wait for convergent validity - i.e. both DC and dealership - this morning I was told estimated ship date is today!
Ok Ok - I’m not holding my breath but I had to make certain I wasn’t dreaming! Might make it in just under 6 months!
Dealer said the computer says F but thinks the system might be behind as it sat at D-1 through last Friday.
IF it hits the railcar by Wednesday it is approximately 1 week out before a couple day truck transfer.
4 Dr White auto Rubi loaded without mygig
Congrats to Bob & Scott!!! Since I am still waiting to add mygig to my jeep I keep up best I can with the issue. I can’t wait to see if Steven really gets a vehicle with mygig. My dealer told me “ANYONE WAITING FOR A JEEP THAT HAS MYGIG, JUST PLAN ON WAITING AND THEN MORE WAITING.” There is still no date and apparently many issues with the mygig. The mygig is actually holding up the cars now, not the tops.
If you ordered with Mygig and want to see your vehicle, you may want to change your order. Seems those who changed their orders and dropped the “mygig” have been getting vehicles into build and out on rail cars in less than a month from change date.
Good luck all!
Hello all. I order my Jeep Green Unlimited Rubicon last week on the 6th and I am already crawling out of my skin. I can’t wait for it!!! I commend all of you for going waiting that long. I don’t know how you all did it. Hopefully I won’t have to suffer as long as many of you have.
From what I have gathered from reading different sites; and correct me if I am wrong, but one of the factors with the order delays was the fact that the early orders had a lot of problem and Jeep had to go through a learning curve (part problems, unknown supply vs demand). And I’ve also gathered that three options delay your Jeep order; Rubicon, Hard Top, and MyGig. And finally, I think the dealer size and allocation has a play in how fast you get your Jeep processed. If the dealer normally has a large Jeep stock, they might be able to process it faster through the factory.
I didn’t order the freedom top and didn’t order the MyGig either. My dealer has a pretty good allocation as well…at least the largest in my area. They told me 8-12 weeks. Am I just being optimistic; or delusional?
Matt
I can’t speak for everyone because I believe there have been many factors to delay the deliveries - the biggest ones you mentioned - others of which may be pure rumor - and some of which we may never know.
However, as Kathy and many others have suggested - the mygig is probably the biggest delay right now.
Evidently, the vendor for the tops is expanding their plant and tops are available - just not at the volumes DC would like. Rubicons are leaving the plant. Canadians have mentioned that their orders may be extended even beyond the 6 months (or more) that some of use are experiencing.
My rubi order was with a 5 star dealer with a fairly good allocation and I didn’t go for the mygig. The 4 door versions are being released but the backlog has been estimated around 59000 on some forums.
As for the 8 - 12 weeks - anything is possible - mine was shipped yesterday and might be here within 10 days (initial order in September with a change on October) - but don’t hold your breath.
Good luck!
Hey everyone.
So, I guess DC was wrong with the 3/20 build date and the dealer was right with 3/9. My dealer reported it was in trim last week and now I have new information.
Now that the time is drawing nigh, believe it or not after 4 months, with the Jeep theoretically almost being on it’s way to me…my SALESMAN WENT TO ITALY ON VACATION! God bless him. He deserves a vacation. He has a lot of ansy customers and he’s a nice guy. BUT GEEZ!!!!
So I’m getting all of my purchase paperwork in order and I decided that even though DC isn’t always on the same page, I would call them. Thank God they reported that I was in JS Status!!! That means storage. GREAT! It’s built. But it’s in storage. Great. wonderful (read with sarcasm).
So hopefully it will be on a train or truck or whatever the heck they use to ship them from Ohio to Pennsylvania (where I purchased it) soon.
I’ll keep all posted. I think the dag-gone hard top is going to come right the heck off because it’s turned beautiful in my neck of the woods. (And I originally thought I would have it in time for Christmas).
So that’s my latest. I’ll be interested to see if Chris’ ships with MyGig as well. Mine’s going in later.
BTW, Bob, I love the expression “convergent validity”. Can I use that?
Scott
recall brakes?? I just saw there was a recall on brakes of 50,000 vehicles? Has anyone heard anything about this? I scheduled my first mantenance for tomorrow and plan on taking in all TSB and recall documents and asking service manager to go through vehicle. Anything else I should be asking them to do that doesn’t have a TSB yet.
thx
kat
Kat,
Go here and put in the last 8 numbers from your VIN.

And then there’s this…
http://project-jk.com/index.php/?p=135
Hi All,
Here is a list of my problems to date:
-The roof leaks in various places (center seam above radio, overhead where the large screws go, and above the doors
-The brakes just started “clicking” when I use them.
-I also have the scary ESP problem going around corners
(If you haven’t experienced this one yet just wait - it’s fun)
When I enter my VIN on the Jeep site, it shows my vehicle is not in need of any updates.
I plan on taking it in shortly. I will keep you all posted.
waitiingInCA,
What a bummer!
Please keep us posted on repairs. Wishing you luck.
Scott
At least there is the TSB for the ESP.
I just took ownership of 4 door Sahara with the GY 17″ tires. Any recommendations on upgrading tires (want to stay with AT’s) while keeping stock? thanks
Waiting on Mygig?? Went to the Atlanta International Auto Show last Friday and the Jeep area had several different configurations of the new Wrangler including the Rubicon. They also had a kiosk with the Mygig system so I could get a close up look at what I have been waiting for. I spoke to several DC representatives that were there and they also had no idea when orders will be produced with the Mygig. The DC representative even pointed out that the system on the kisok was not even functioning properly. All they would say is that it was marked for “late availability” and “good things come to those who wait”. Has anyone heard anything different?? Although typically I am very patient I have been waiting for three months in the BG status with no signs of movement. I am thinking of changing my order and not going with the Mygig now and adding at some later date as it sounds like they are trying to work some bugs out of this system anyway. Any thoughts from others waiting or others that have already gotten a Rubicon? Thanks.
To waitingInCa,
In your comments from March 16th you mention that when you put in your vin# on the jeep site you show your vehicle needs no updates.
I am a first time jeep owner and was wondering what site your speaking of? I ordered my Sahara in November and received on
Jan 10th. The only problem I’ve had is the 3-piece hard top leaking where the two panels meet in the middle above the dash/radio. I removed and replaced the panels and while pushing the drivers side panel toward the passenger sides panel, locked it down and have had no problems/leaks since. The only thing I didn’t get on my Sahara was the my gig. From the sounds of it, glad I didn’t. Couldn’t be happier with my choice of buying this jeep. Goes just about anywhere on my property and get lots of looks/compliments on it. Getting a little long-winded here, but if you or someone else could give me that web-site I mentioned earlier, it would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to all who are waiting and in my opinion, it will be worth it!

To waitingInCA,
Forgot to ask about the ESP problem you spoke of also in your comments from March 16th. New/first time jeep owner and just trying to keep up with all these different problems I’m reading about in case they happen to mine. Thanks in advance to you or
anyone else out there that can help me!

I ordered my 4 door Sahara with the MYGIG the second week in January. The dealership called me Friday and said it has been produced and they are waiting for a ship date. I should have my jeep in a week or so. I also have a 1998 wrangler…I love wranglers and could not be more excited! Will let you know how the MYGIG is once I get it!
Scott - sorry for the delay - finally got to a place that has internet as we are on the first of two trips and expect to stop back this week in case our baby makes it in.
As for the convergent validity - by all means - anytime! It is a philosophy I’ve tried to live with for a while and it seems to help!
Maybe this week - told it was on a railcar last Tuesday but didn’t get the number before we left.
I took delivery on my Jeep Green Unlimited two weeks ago. I ***love*** it!!! This is my first Wrangler. I ordered through the dealership because they had NO Jeep Green Unlimiteds within 500 miles.
I told the dealer that when you’re spending $25K, you should be able to get the color you want! On top of that, most of the Unlimiteds were automatics (yech!) and had power windows and door locks (I hate the future cost of repairs on those). So selection was practically nil.
Mine also came with the Freedom Top. Heh-heh–Had I found jk-forums and read all the comments about problems with these tops I’d have probably went with the rag top. Fortunately, mine arrived in five weeks (though the person who called to tell me it was en route by rail in Kansas did mention that I must have ordered the rag top since it was arriving so quickly–he was mistaken). We had some pretty heavy rains and I did have a few drops (half a dozen, at most) reach the shifter area of the interior. Reading the above about problems with leaks it sounds like there may still be a small issue here. Rain is “scheduled” for here in Oklahoma all this week, so I’ll know by next weekend.
Yesterday I yanked the front doors and the driver/passenger tops. I have the additional side mirror (Mopar) and installed it. Didn’t time myself during removal, but reinstall later that day took about 12 minutes, taking my time.
This vehicle drives great. Indeed, it’s pretty much like the F-150 truck it replaced (gave it to my son). Handling, road manners, rough road performance are all very acceptable. After reading some of the reviews that commented that it was better than prior Wranglers “but you’ll still know that you’re in a Jeep”, I am very pleased with that.
I’ve ordered Shrockrails for it. I also installed the fuel cover to keep grime out of that area. And I have the Mopar bike rack. My off-roading is primarily to get me to trailheads where I can hike/backpack, so I’m not too interested in some of the heavy mod’s that I read about here. However, some of the stuff folks are doing is way cool!
–mark d.
I ordered my Green Rubicon Unlimited (Dual Tops, Mygig) in November 2006. My dealership contacts me once every 2 weeks to let mw know an update but it still does not have a vin # yet so its still not made it to the production line. The dealership tells me it the MyGig that is the hold up, (he says it is worth the wait!) as they have almost every other configuration on the lot and I live in NC, hopefully I will get it before Vacation time.
Ed,
Regarding the VIN number site, see my earlier posting on this page dated March 15th at 1:38pm for the link to Jeeps site with the VIN lookup.
Regarding tracking TSB’s (Technical Service Bulletins) go here:

Arrival IMMINENT.
My 07 Rubi Unlimited Auto Dual Top is scheduled to arrive at the dealer next Saturday the 24th.
I’ll restate that I removed they MyGig from my order in order to get it built, but had previously negotiated to have it installed for free in the future when it becomes available.
We’ll see if it actually arrives!
I also bought a motorized hoist-a-top for the hard top. Hopefully I’ll get that installed this weekend as well. I’ll let you know how that goes.
And BTW, check out this incredible roof rack. It’s overpriced, but very, very cool.
http://jeeproofrack.com/
Scott
scott, how much was that roof rack? Very neat! Which motorized hoist a top you thinking about? I am worried the Lange with steel frame will damage roof. thanks for the info for recall vin# site. Took jeep for 3000 mile service (late 4100). They checked every TSB and recall and I was apparently good every where except my windshield wipers pressure on one side had to be adjusted (LOL). They were unable to repeat the overheat issue around where I plug in cell phone. Maybe its my cord. If you are in Nevada I totally recommended the Reno Jeep dealer and my salesman Michael O’Toole. They have been super.
Sebastian: really do let us know if your car comes in with the my gig. Based on what I have heard and Jays comments from auto show it is not close to release still.
I was not as smart as Scott. I will be paying to add the my gig later but if it is any good I am happy to have the jeep now and add my gig and pay the penalty later.
For those of you waiting, definately worth it, definately worth it without the my gig even.
Kat,
I emailed them from that website and they sent me prices.
The aluminum one, total weight 55lbs, is $1895.
The steel one, at 110lbs, is $1595.
That seemed pretty steep to me. The cool thing about them is no drilling required. They use OEM mounts and of course the flip back feature is nice as well.
the also offer a pre-welded one that ships in 5 pieces.
I DID get the Lange Hoist A Top. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but I’m hoping it won’t scratch the top. If it seems like it will, then I’ll wrap the arms in old clothes or something. I’m more concerned about mounting all of the hardware correctly so I can sleep easy knowing that the hard top isn’t going to come crashing down during the 6 to 8 months it’s hanging there. I’m likely to rig some kind of safetys just in case for that. OR if I get too nervous I may just use the hoist a top to take it off and then bring it down and put it on one of those dollies that Quadratec has.
I lost that email you sent me a while back, but think I might have seen your son’s name on a Marquis in Times Square a week or so ago. I remember his first name, but you’ll have to resend me the last. Don’t want to publish it here without your permission.
scott@powerhum.com
Sebastian, I am from NC. Whereabouts are you?
drop me a line at the above email if you’d like.
Scott
OK. I’ve purchased too many vehicles in my lifetime and this is throwing me for a loop and my cynical nature is probably getting the best of me….but here goes:
I have waited a fairly long time (initial order last September) and now that my vehicle is in transit - KZM status and yes I have a railcar number and have been tracking it - tonight at my doorstep I received a package with a check refunding my deposit from 6 months ago.
Obviously the dealership is closed and most of you are offline but I am worried that something has happened behind my back and that I will suddenly find that my vehicle has been sold to a higher bidder.
Anyone else experienced this? This is my first Chrysler “ordered” vehicle and have never seen a refund check just before taking delivery.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated - the wait has been killing me and I guess paranoia has set in!!
ARRGGHH! They don’t open for another 9 hours or so and after 6 months the extra time is insignificant but not if it means I have to wait another couple of months because this is some type of bait and switch! Or is this normal Chrysler operations in that the deposit is returned when the vehicle is on the way so if you don’t pay in full they have the right to sell it anyway (not a problem as I already have the funding and cashiers check in hand).
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Hello,
Well I am still sitting in Afganistan, I orderd My Jeep rubicon Unlimited Jeep green with Kacki interior back in mid Jan. Have a couple of things working against me orderd it with half doors and My GIG..Both late availibility items. Good news is I have already been sent a VIN# and last week got notice that I was inside my 45 day window of requested delivery date. I leave here in about 10 days after my year here. Hope to take delivery on the 27th of April but we will see. After the things I seen not a big deal in the large scheam of things. This will be my 6 jeep and 1st one not a CJ ..I have built three CJ-7 and on CJ-5 from the ground up learning as I went. I have a 85 CJ-7 that I just worked the kinks out of before I came here. Once I saw the 4 door it was just a natural desion to upgrad. Trying to get the family into Jeeps like I am. Right now the wife hates um because of all the tinkering that im always doing. Although she has been using my old toy and plowing while ive been gone and seems pretty stoked about the new toy . I just hope that it is on time so I can spend the summer with my family and the new family Toy. We live in CT and were were at is near the ocean and the moutians both perfect Jeep worlds . well I am going on and on ..just want to say this site has been both very cool and informative . Yes I suck at spelling …sorry
my english and typing could use some work too…hey after 23 yrs as an Army Infantryman what can you exspect?
Canceled the MyGIG yesterday so we will see if that starts moving my order along. For those who have ordered and have gotten word it is in production or on the way (especially a Rubicon)please keep us posted on the status.
Bob, my deposit was directly with the dealer which applied it to the purchase price as ordered. I have my fingers crossed for you in hopes your Jeep makes it to you as planned.
Thanks!
Thanks Jay
Mine too
I still have several hours before the accounting folks show up so that I can get to the bottom of this but the vehicle is now one state away!!
I just have a bad feeling in that the check wasn’t included with a letter or any explanation and I’ve been told that it is not uncommon to have vehicles litteraly sold out from underneath folks after many months of waiting.
My sales agrreement has no dates of expiration but also doesn’t appear to have anything stopping them from terminating the agreement at will.
As they are well aware that we left a trip early to come back to pick this up - I can’t say that this makes me feel very thrilled.
This may all be completely out of context and a normal practice but until they open - I’ll be stuck just worrying!
Bob,
That is crazy! Please keep us informed.
Are you on good terms with your dealer/salesperson? Do you think they would do that to you?
Please post what happens here as soon as you find out. Wishing you the best.
and Paul, good luck with yours as well. We’ll be glad to have you back in the States.
Scott
Scott,
Thanks I am looking forward to it and to actualy seeing one of these new Jeeps other then a picture. It very nerve racking buy sight unseen ..the only good point is Jeeps are in my blood..I have own a Jeep since 1985 the one I have now was the 1st one Ive had that wasnt an everyday driver. This one wont be either so I have plans for it ..well as far as the wife will let me ..Hey Im a realist. I do plan on doing some traveling..We have already talked about some sight seeing trips like driving from CT to the grandcanyon …with no purpose then seeing the coutry and realy appecating it . ..Hey I got the two packed what I am trying to figure out now is the largest pup up I can tow with it ..I think I will be pretty limited . I want to find on that sleeps at least four and can be dragged down the trails. Any Ideas from any one .
I have seen in several places that the rear axel locker is an option available for the Sahara ($572). My dealer says it is not available.
Has anyone been able to get it on a Sahara?
Good news….
The accounting department was cleaning up some items over the weekend and saw the deposit in the system from so long ago and tried to reach mt salesperson who was on vacation.
Unfortunately, they didn’t connect with him and thought rather than question it - they just cut the check thinking maybe everyone forgot about it.
Fortunately - they also just told me to shred it!!!
First time I can remember being REALLY happy to hear I should shred a check!
Thanks to all for the words of encouragement and support — a happy ending — soon!
It is in New Mexico right now!!!
Serves me right for being sleep deprived!
yeah Bob!! What did your saleman say when you told him? I would hand the shreded check to him just so they can’t say something about a deposit sent and refunded when that baby arrives.
good luck!
kat
Kat
He is on vacation - I have no issues there - he did great by me and I have no issue in his being gone when mine gets in (although it wouldn’t surprise me if he shows up as it arrives).
This was one of those areas where the accounting department took the initiative to return a deposit based upon their belief that it “might” have fallen through the cracks since they weren’t able to match it to any orders within the past 180 days!
They had no idea how long I’ve been waiting until today and were so apologetic and even offered some additional discounts on extra toys when I want them for the inconvenience.
I’ll hold off on my final opinion until it is in my hands but these guys have been very good so far. This was just one of those touchy situations and my sleep deprivation didn’t help after reading about folks having their vehicles sold out from underneath them!
370 miles away!!!!!
Has anyone recieved a Jeep with the MyGig radio? I ordered a Unlimited Rubicon with the Freedom Top on Sept. 27th. Added the MyGig 12/28. I am now in JS status and according to my dealer, should have the Jeep in about a week. I am still a little sceptical but the dealer said it has been built as ordered with the MyGig.
jimmy; read above the email from Jay at the auto show last week. I think you are correct to be very skeptical. We have not heard of any receiveing with my gig. The only ones that were ordered with my gig that we heard of having shipped are jeeps like Scott who changed the ordered, cancelled the mygig and got moved to shipped. I have my sahara 4 door and am waiting to add my gig. My salesman says he still has no date but last I heard was June.
Good Luck
kat
the latest,
I’m still at JS status. In STORAGE in Toledo. PLEASE SEND ME MY JEEP!!!!!
I’ll keep you posted.
Scott
Hi guys, not sure if you are reading the blogs on the main forum, http://www.jk-forum.com/, but there have been three people already who have received there JK’s with MyGigs…and several that are in transport. Just thought I would let you know.
I am also one of the many waiting to get mine with the MyGig I have been on order since Nov. Some day maybe it will show up. Can’t wait.
Scott –
Double check with your dealership - mine definitely seemed more accurate than what DC was providing.
Mine arrived in Phoenix this past Wednesday night but there are so many vehicles that the station doesn’t think they’ll get to unload it until Monday and I might see it by Wednesday !!
The dealership did me right again and put an urgent rush on it. Evidently, the station folks had told them that many of the vehicles had been there much longer than mine but the dealership explained that there certainly weren’t any there that were ordered before mine!
So, they are going to load it on a truck tonight and get it to me Monday morning.
It literally is sitting within 15 miles of us and we can’t do a thing.
The suspense - the wait - I truly have been feeling like an expectant father again but I’ll let you all know if it is actually in my hands come Monday!
Good luck and patience to everyone!
I have had my 2007 JK Unlimited X for about 3 days now. It’s the S package with 17″ Wheels, Power Everything, 6sp Manual, and the in-dash 6 Disk DVD/MP3 Player with the Infinity Sound System.
All I can say about it…I LOVE IT!!! I drove a 2002 Apex, and since my lady drives a mini cooper convertable…we could carry about 3 bags of groceries combined. It’s incredibly comfortable, stable, plenty of power, the stereo rocks, and it’s got the quietest interior ever in a Jeep. Getting used to the “chirp” of the alarm when the doors lock though. Weird for a Wrangler…
I do have one question that’s bothering me a bit: With the CD/DVD player in the Jeep…Why would they put a DVD player in the dash and no Screen anywhere? Are there vid outputs on the back so as to hook up a screen? Anybody know??? Or am I just an idiot and can’t locate a screen?
Question for those that ordered the MyGig system. My dealer told me that the MyGig (order code RER) was not even available on the Jeep order system until late December. 007Drivegirl, did you place your order in November and have the dealer change the order when MyGig came available?
Bobby, I THINK the six disk system (order code REQ)plays DVD audio and has no video screen. I would guess if you had a concert DVD that you wanted to listen to music only. Anyone? The MyGig does have a built in video screen but you can only watch the DVD if the Jeep is in Park.
I would agree with you if it didn’t specifically state “DVD Video” on the face of the head unit. It leads me to believe that there must be video outputs on it. Still seaching for the answer…
Jay…in regards to my order with MyGig. I did place the order with the dealer in Nov. and that order had the MyGig on it. However, I knew at the time that MyGig had “late availabiltiy” which means at the time I placed the order it was NOT available in the order system yet. Therefore my order sat in the system unitl they became available for order, my order did not get accepted into the order system until Jan. 3, 2007 and I have been waiting ever since….Still only in BX status….If I don’t progress to Build status soon I am going to go strangle someone at the dealership and then at the plant! This wait is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.
YEE HAW!!! Bobstillwaitingtoo is no more!
It finally arrived. The sales force was there to congratulate me and the 3 miles I was able to enjoy it before having to drive it to the shop were wonderful.
Not to be taken the wrong way - it was scheduled for the tow plates and brakes long ago and after 6 months - it finally arrived!
Keep up the patience and I’ll let you all know how the first week goes!!!
Bob, great! Glad it arrived! Sure wish I had one! 007divegirl, yes I share your frustration. I first started looking at the Wrangler Unlimited over a year ago. I actually waited to order until the MyGig was in the order system and placed my order on Dec. 21st. I knew there would be somewhat of a wait but thought after three months it would at least be in the process of being built. I even canceled the MyGig and still have not changed status. What really gets me is that DC is advertising their other vehicles with the MyGig system and they can not even get the exisitng orders going. Ok, got to take my blood pressure meds now. Good luck.
Gongrads Bob,
On getting your Jeep I have been follwing everyones trials and victories. Sorry I find it a source of enterainment while I sit here in Afagnistan. I got one for you all that you might enjoy.
Not only do I leave here in 6 days and head back to the states and suppose to pick up my Jeep in the end of April ..which still needs to be seen. I orderd it in Jan and got approved for finance in Jan for a whoping 12.9% from Dodge Crysler( thanks to an exwife that destoyed my credit but thats another story) I still am
still waiting on not only the jeep but the finance contract also …beat that. Although they sent me the Vin already go figure . I am sure it will work out …I am not to worried about it. Got some beach time and drinking and loving to make up for so my calender can wait on the Jeep ..Its just a jeep it is not life . I will keep up on all the situation on this site and keep everyone informed on my situation. I am sure there are people in the Jeep Corperatation that are feeling alot of heat over this. Everyone answers to someone …especcaly when you are in the service industry ..so rest well at night as we all wait someone is wondering if they will keep their job over this .
divegirl:
Went to the web blogs you mentioned and found one guy who admitted to kidding and then one that says he has the mygig as you mentioned. His story is basically he walked onto a lot, there was the car with mygig and bought it. The mygig is in other crysler vehicles so alot of the discussions about it are revolving about that. I just don’t know what to believe anymore.
I know it is hard to know what to believe…but in all honesty, there are two people on JK forum posting pics and giving some reviews of their MyGig. They just got them within the week so they are still trying them out. I have a few questions posted on there and am waiting to get replies. But they are real and someday I will hopefully have one. I just wish they would hurry up already. I am beyond the point of excitment about getting my JK, instead of have reached the point of frustration. Isn’t getting a new vehicle suppose to be FUN!!!!?
if they are actually out it will be very frustrating for someone like scott who finally changed his order and still hasn’t arrived. Dealers were even advising if you want your vehicle change your order and NOW they might actually have it. Seems the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Good luck, hope yours starts moving soon
I picked up mine with MyGig about 2 weeks ago. Its great.
If you look at some of the other Jeep forums, there is a lot of info. I have the User Guide for MyGig which my dealer emailed me in pdf. I am happy to forward it on. Hard Copies were not sent out with the Vehicles.
If anyone has any questions, I am happy to answer. If you want proof, I can send some photos.
The Nav is nice. In Maryland, DVD video is not allowed in the front under any circumstances, so mine does not play dvd’s even in park…sound only, no video. N0 UConnect, but the Sirius is awesome. Nav is great. I really like it.
WAREAGLEINMD
I would not mind getting a copy of the My GIG user guide. I have one on order and due to ship soon.
I sent you a pm, if you can send it would be greatly appreciated.
I pick up my JK-Unlimted Sport dual top on sunday. We are getting a Diesel version in Australia, but I could not wait another 3 months, and the extra A$4000.00, buys a hell of a lot of fuel. This is my first Jeep, from a Toyota, any tips?, anything I should keep an eye on?, plan on taking it bush and getting it dirty next weekend. CANT WAIT!!!!
Cheers
Frank - Sydney Australia
How do I get a private message wookie?
WAREAGLEINMD

Thanks Yoda/WareagleinMD!!
i picked up my unlimited on thursday.Just love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!well worth the wait.no problems with the roof leaking or anything.if you are someone who is waiting , be patient. You won’t be sorry.
WAREEAGLEINMD.
Any luck being able to find my pm? Still looking for your e-mail.
If not “HEY MODERATOR” can WAREEAGLEINMD send you the .pdf for the MY GIG user manual to you and have you post it for everyone to have access too?
Sorry just really looking for more information so I can be prepared when my Rubi arrives.
Hold on guys, the PDF is posted on another Forum. By the way, the hard copy of the manual came in the mail on Friday from my dealer, so they are in now.
WAREAGLEINMD,
Thank you. I received the .pdf and it is very much appreciated. I hit KZL last Friday and dealership says it could still be a few weeks before it leaves and heads this way. This will give my some great reading material until it arrives.
Thanks again.
I placed my order for a Rubicon Unlimited with MyGig back in January. My dealer doesn’t sound very positive about me getting my Rubi any time soon. In fact he thinks it could be some time in the fall. If that is the case then I could just wait and get the 2008. But then again it may arrive in 2009 according to the speed they are producing orders right now. I live in Nunavut, Canada and if any other Canadians have heard about or recieved their Jeep orders could you let me know.
Thanks! (fingers crossed)
FINALLY!
It’s at my dealer. Picking it up Saturday (Dealer is in another state).
I would like to thank my parents, God and most of all the Project JK forum members.
Steel Blue Unlimited Rubi with all opts BUT MYGIG. May add later, at this point may go aftermarket.
Hope the top doesn’t leak!
Not sure I’ll care if it does.
Scott
yeah scott!! how can you stand it to wait until saturday LOL. Forgot to mention, on the sahara we had to add the undercoating and it took 1 day to do. If you don’t have the undercoating, get it and tell them now so you can still pu saturday.
let us know what you think after pick up
kat
Is undercoating really necessary? Does it have any other benefits other than corrosion protection?
Congrats Scott!!
As for the leaking issues - I think I found a reasonable way to deal with them - upon getting the vehicle home - remove the hardtop - keep the softop in its protective pouch - grab some sunscreen - and enjoy.
I haven’t seen a leak yet!
hi jimmy, big noise reduction as well. The corrosion was a big deal to me since I have a 95 jeep that has quite a bit of corrosion and rust in varous areas. Just different mud, puddles, streams have attacked my jeep. I also live in sierra mtns so all winter we have either sand or different melting materials spread by snow plows. One day of running on a road that has been salted is enough. During winter I wash off daily and still my old jeep has been attacked. good luck

I ordered mine Nov 15th 2006 and live by Windsor Ontario. I just picked mine up this past Wednesday, 140 days after ordering. It was worth the wait but it sure seemed like an eternity. There are currently no holdbacks (all parts are available) but the time from order to delivery is still shown as 16 to 18 weeks.
Hi there..
I’ve ordered Jeep wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on March 30st, and the dealership told me that I have to wait minimum 4 months to get it! sometimes even up to a year! That’s sad, But I think that worth it… I live in Vancouver, Canada..
Can’t wait to get it soon..
Hello All. Hope I am not posting on the wrong board - I am a newbie. We just bought our 07 Rescue Green Wrangler this past Sunday. We already love it. We are going to replace our 2004 with a 4 door unlimited this fall. Question: Our 2004 Sahara edition has tinted windows on the soft top. When I asked the dealer about tinted windows for the 07 soft top, he said nadda - not yet. Does anyone know if I can just replace the window panels ( not replace the entire top ) for tinted ones? The top is black so it shouldnt be a color issue if I can just find them. Would really like to get rid of these clear ones. We live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where its hot and sunny year round. The tint really makes a difference to us down here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
allen, The unlimited doesn’t have tinted windows but the sahara does without a charge. i am pasting from jeep web site that deep tint windows are an included item for no extra charge on sahara. I have one and my windows are tinted. So,,,, if you want tinted windows consider a sahara rather than the unlimited.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS
Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows $0.00
Dual Top Group $1,585.00
Engine Block Heater $35.00
Front and Rear Floor Mats $50.00
Locking Fuel Filler Cap $15.00
Smoker’s Group $30.00
Trac-Lok® Limited Slip Rear Differential $295.00
Electronic Front Sway Bar Disconnect $675.00
Locker Rear Axle $650.00
Spare Tire Cover $50.00
Tubular Side Steps $0.00
hope this helps

4Down, Thanks for the information. I guess I will just have to stay patient and keep daydreaming about driving the Jeep. How long after you placed your order did it take before your Jeep actually started to get made at the factory. Right now my dealer still only knows that it has not even been started in production.

The dealer said it moved to D status March 16th and D1 on March 23rd. Prior to the 16th it sat in B status since November 2006 and the dealer didn’t bother telling me when it started to move to BX etc. just when it hit D in March. They are building roughly 600 a day. I haven’t read anything about how much of a backlog they may still have lately. If I find any info I will let you know.

I ordered my Unlimited Rubi Rescue Green with hardtop and myGIG back in february.
was told it’d be around 8 week wait. right now we’re at about 11 weeks or so, which sounds like a short wait compared to some of you….dealer said last week that it has a VIN number and a delivery date of 11 April
so who knows, next two weeks, i should have it!
Hey Kat….Thanks for the info but we’ve already purchased a 2 door X model that didnt have the tinted rear windows on the soft top. When we get our second one this fall, a 4 door, we will probably get the sahara - since we will be replacing a sahara. In the interim, does anyone know a cheap source to replace the back 3 windows on the X model that we just bought? Thanks again!
Hello,to everyone out there. It will be this coming weekend in SO.Cal 4/14/07 that I will be ordering my JK Unlimited 4 door Rubicon with the freedom top. I do realalize by reading other articles that I am in for quite a wait, maybe 60 days this was also told to me by the dealership I plan on puchasing it from, is red just popular color or is this the norm. Another question to all you owners of the JK is the dash the only place to mount the GPS system? To me it makes more sense if it were placed where the Sirus radio would be placed in the dash. Is ther such an item as as a combination unit? At least I will have time to sell my 2003 TJ Sport. Thanks for the oppertunity and hope to see you all on the trail. Thanks, Stachio
Well. I finally have it. Having been one of the have nots for so long, it feels strange to have it now. And I know I didn’t like reading about people who got theirs because I was jealous, but it truly is worth the wait. I love it. The Steel Blue is beautiful too. I’ve already had the hard top off and back on to take the soft-top out. No rain yet, but we’ll see what happens.
Best of luck to everyone!
I’ll be lurking in the JK forums.
Scott
Finally moved to D status and have a VIN number. To any that already received their Unlimited do you know how long it to from D to delivery. I’m hoping they are catching up with the demand and getting them out the door a little faster. I may actually get to drive it for a while this summer!
scott - CONGRATS!!!. Keep me posted about your aftermarket research for mygig type of unit. Hasn’t been bad to plug in the ipod or laptop but would like an all inclusive in the dash because I really want something that has voice command hands free phone (easier with my manual) and to clear away cords and more cords. Still really like that roof rack too so if you get one let me know what you think.
kat
I want to know if The_Superhoo got the jeep yet. I ordered a rescue green rubi with myGig about a week ago (Apr 1st.) I need it. I’m sure you all understand how much I need it.
TimmyJ, I would like to know as well. I hope Jeep has caught up with the demand by now. I ordered my rubi with mygig in Dec. and had been in BG status well into March. I find it interesting that someone could order in Feb. and get a vin # and delivery date for April. Maybe they just have an awsome dealer. Keep us posted. Again, I hope Jeep is cranking them out now. If not don’t count on having it anytime soon. Good luck!
Jay. Ordered in Dec eh? I’m in Winnipeg Canada and I’ve seen a few dealers have a Rubi Unlimited come in on the lot in the last few weeks. (Only stays on the lot for a day though.) My dealer told me it would be between 12 and 16 weeks from April 1st. But he also said that they were in heavy Rubi production cycle right now so it could be as soon as 6 weeks. Every time I think about it I need it more. I hope you get yours soon!
Pick up my Green 4dr Sahara with the MyGIG system. Ordered it 3/6 and picked it 4/10. A whole month ahead of the quoted build time. I still speechless at the beauty of this Jeep. I still have not explored all the features, but have noticed the UConnect function is disabled. Has anyone heard if Jeep is going to enable the function on Wranglers. Does anyone know a work around. I was not expecting the inside noise to be quiet enough for taking phone calls, but this model is leaps and bounds quieter than my old 2000 Wrangler.
I picked up my red rock sahara unlimited with MYGIG last week. I love it! I ordered it the second week in January. I have the freedom top, no soft top. Well, it was raining like crazy today in NY. I got into my car after work and the top of the MYGIG unit was wet, the shifter and under the emergency break lever were also wet. I had heard about this problem, but I thought Jeep had solved it. I will be bringing it to the service dept. Other than that (which I am so upset about) I absolutely love it!
I bought a 2007 wrangler this month with a soft top and ordered a 3 piece freedom top. After the dealer installed the new top it makes so much noise in side (creaking noise). The dealer stated that it is normal and will quit. After getting on a ladder to look at the top roof it has a small gap on one side of the 3 piece. I am trying to find the installation manual but can’t locate one to find out more. Can you help?
Bill
I walked on to the dealer lot in Woodburn Oregon, drove off thelot 3 hours later with a 2007 wrangler. Put a 150 miles on it. Hurt my back and my wife has been driving it until I can drive again. It’s been a month and a half and I still can’t drive it. I feel sorry for all of you that had to or are still waiting for your new jeep to be in your drive way, but look at it this way. Having it in your drive way and not being able to drive it. Plus when I can drive, my wife may not give it back. LOL. So far we love it, the hard top doesn’t leak. As of yet it hasn’t seen any off roading. I have owned a 77 cj5, 85 cj7, 95 yj, 2000 tj and now this jk. I have to say, they have come along way. I loved driving it for the short time I got to drive it and my wife loves driving it too, ( and she should know , she is the only one driving it.) Anyway, so far no problems. DOES anyone know how big of tire will fit with out lifting or tires rubbing? Thank you in advance.. Rupedog
NO LEAKS!
I just drove 90 miles in the nor’easter that’s currently pounding new england. First time driving in the rain. My hard top has been on and off 3 times prior to today.
Had a towel in the truck just in case. Nothing. Not one drop. I have been very diligent about putting it on carefully, but either way, I’m so glad it’s not leaking!
So far it’s been awesome. There’s a little wind noise around the front passenger door, but I don’t care that much. I’ll have them look at it when I do my first oil change.
Hope everyone is well.
Best,
Scott
I bought a new 4 door wrangler 2-16-07 with the freedom top and the soft top: within days it rained and I had more water inside the jeep than outside. The dealership replaced the hardtop- that one leaked. They removed the hardtop and put the soft top on - that leaked too! They finally found me another jeep of which I incurred additional expenses, and I am now having problems with the 2nd new wrangler…in 2 months I have made 4 jeep payments, spent money on 2 registrations and been in rental cars for a majority of the time. I wanted my money back and unfortunately looks like arbitration is my only option….more money now on legal fees!!!!!!!!!
I am not a very happy person with Jeep Canada today. My dealer actually called and gave me the option of refunding my deposit on my order for a Rubicon Unlimited. DaimlerChrysler informed Canadian dealerships that there will only be 800 jeeps allocated for all of Canada. (What a joke) So my chances of getting my order placed on February 1, 2007 is not looking very good at all. Apparently since orders for 2007’s are stopping soon any 2007’s not built before the factory sets up for the 2008’s will have to be pushed ahead to a 2008 build. I can’t believe there is the possibility that my order could move till 2008. I really love Jeeps, but DaimlerChrysler are trying really hard to change my mind.
I took delivery of my 07 red rubicon 2 dr about 2 months ago and love it but i was wondering if anyone has had an issue with the soft top in the rear where it mounts to the tailgate corners. there are 2 plastic blocks that the bottom of the rear window fit into and one of mine keeps pushing in leaving a gap where water can easily come in. i went to the dealer and the response was almost funny, “it’s a jeep, you have to expect stuff like that”! I called corporate and they told me they contacted the service manager that told me that and he said the top was fine. corporates advise to me was to go to another dealer. I am not used to crappy service like this. i was just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue
Yo,
Well, here I am still hanging out at page_id+26, for whatever that means.
Anyway, schpeener, just today I removed my hard top and installed the soft top and know exactly the pieces you are referencing. I do not anticipate any problems with with the top, but I’ve yet to drive it in wet weather conditions. I’ll let you know if I have any.
Still have had no problems with my Freedom Top, and it now hangs in my garage from a Lange Hoist a Top.
Last week, the Delaware River flooded (minor) near my house in Pennsylvania and I forded a flooded out road with somewhere between 24 and 30 inches of water. I remember finding varying specs on the water fording abilitys of the Rubicon and I have seen 20 inches in the manual and 30 inches online. However, in this case the water was at most at the sills on the doors. It appeared to be over the fog lights in the bumper when we were driving through it. I got to a flooded spot in the road and would not have gone first, because when floods happen, you just don’t know what lies underneath the water, but a couple of large pickups went through before me so I knew that a washout condition did not exist. I know the water was deep enough that I heard the fan when it hit the water. It made a unique sound. I was pleased as punch when we just powered through. I went slow and followed all of the fording rules. It was a blast!
There are pictures of the road I forded here:
http://flickr.com/photos/7634987@N08/sets/72157600090935507/
No picts of me and the wife driving through the water, but that’s because it was dark.
Having dealt with putting on and taking off the hard top and now putting up the soft-top, I gotta say, this new Jeep is the ultimate contemporary update of the old school CJ. I’ve had 2 CJ-7’s and I gotta say, this truck is the bomb.
Kat, please send me another email, I lost your email address. scott@powerhum.com
Best to all and good luck to those of you having problems.
Scott
My order, Unlimited Rubi - Red Rock, has been in D status for 18 days and just got off the phone with Jeep. The Jeep rep. stated that a “roughly” it could go into production the first week of May. If so I may see it by June however I am not counting on that.
scott, I don’t have any wind noise anywhere so I think the door must not be seated properly if you get noise. When you crossed the flood water did any water come in under doors or rear door or was it well sealed?
Wishing someone could help Ashley, this jeep is so wonderful it is a shame someone should be so unhappy and spending so much to fix a problem that has a work order.
Ashley, what does corporate say? Maybe if you work directly with them they can help more than the dealer has. Trust me, there are unlimiteds out there not having your problems.
I took delivery of a 4 door Jeep Unlimited X in February. The only options I took were the upgrade wheels, both the freedom top and softtop, and some sidesteps. It ran perfectly until about 3,000 miles at which point the Throttle Position Sensor light started coming on, followed by the check engine light. The dealer had to have a new TPS overnighted from Detroit. It is a little bit annoying to find yourself broken down in a brand new vehicle, but hopefully this is the only problem the JK will give me.
The 3 piece roof hasn’t leaked yet despite all the snow and rain that N.E. has thrown at it, and despite the fact of having taken it off and put it back on several times.
Jeeps are jeeps. My ‘98 Wrangler had a speedo and tach that would just turn on and off by themselves until they started working fulltime around 100K miles.
Congrats to all who managed to get this amazing vehicle!! Mine FINALLY came in last week!! Black Unlimited Rubicon….I ordered it back in September and didn’t even know about the MYGIG but the rep said if I HAD changed my order to MYGIG it would’ve taken an extra month. This is because the MYGIG units did not come with mounting kits and most are just sitting there with no way to install them. Anyways, LOVE the Jeep…its my first. Putting a 2.5″ Terra lift and 35″ Krawlers on it next week….only wish they made a Krawler tire with larger rims but I understand it. One question to all of you: Is the rumor true that the Thornbird tires are a joke? I like the looks and am not a serious rock crawler yet but don’t want a useless tire. If the tire is good, let me know and I can get the rims I want.
Well all,
I am back in the United States from Afganistan. For those who recall I bought my Rubicon Unlimited site unseen from Millitary car sales back in January. Jeep green half doors and a my gig. It has been built and sits it a “K” status waiting for shipment. they are saying that I should be able to pick it up from the dealership on the 29 of May. will see my dealer has not been advise so far ..Figures. Anyway I have been having a blast playing in the States anyway ..so its all good. I will let you guys know when I pick up my toy
Well people i have had My 2007 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara since September 20th. I got it in The red rock crystal and it has been in the shop 5 times in the past 8 months due to the water leak problem. Its funney because at the dealership they say its not common. But after visiting this website for the first time and reading a little i guess i am not the only one with this issue.
Another problem i am dealing with is the ESP and ABS LIGHTS have been comming on and staying on.I went another 2 times to the dealer for this issue, and it still comes on for long periods of time. I just got it back on friday and I have to go back to the dealer again on monday.Im really gettin annoyed with the truck. Im not saying that the truck is bad.I love the way it drives and looks, but i didnt buy a new car to have it go back to the dealer for stupid issues all the time.
Finally if anybody plans to put a (AEM) air intake system on there 2007 Wrangler As i did. They Should know that with the added performance comes an annoying whistleing sound, that comes and goes at certain throttle possitions. Maybe this is only with my intake system. But i thought i would just tell of my experiences with the truck.
Well, my 4dr Unlimited Rubicon went into BX status on April 27 - only 97 days after the initial order. And BX doesn’t even get you a build date. Needless to say, I have chosen to wait until August to order a 2008. With all of the problems you guys raise, I am hoping DC will make the necessary adjustments for the next year’s edition. Plus, maybe they will hear the rising chorus concerning Jeep’s miserable MPG ratings and actually build an engine that can reach 20 mpg. Just hope the old wreck I am currently driving can make it another 4 months.
Waiting in LA - I feel your pain! Mine has been on order since December 20. I reached D status 27 days ago and have been there since. Quite frankly I can not believe this! While other manufacturers are getting ready to release their 2008 models Jeep can’t even get their 2007s out the door. With such a back log I would be very surprised if Jeep actually releases the 2008 model year in August. Guess we will see. While I still look forward to getting the Unlimited I must say that this has by far been the worst car buying experience I have ever had. My wife is on her third Grand Cherokee but when it’s time to look for her I’ll be shopping the competition.
Been awhile since I checked forum. I think all in all everyone will enjoy the JK. Word to the wise any new 4 wheelers that get in to it, should accually read owners manual. For instance it says to check vehicle after every significant outting. I found swaybar had loosened up some. We don’t have disconects. Also has anyone found that after vehicle has set all day in sun it tends to crank excesively when you first start it. anyway minor issues with it. just rolled over 9000 miles.
:} P.S. comments on rock krawler 4″ lift?
i have had my unlimited for about two months now and still love it.I have had no problems whatsoever with anything. This is my first jeep.I have put more miles on this vehicle in two months thatn i did in six months when i had my dakota. One question though, will my gas mileage improve any?
thanks
I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4dr hard top. I am wondering if anyone is having the same problems I am.
When I am driving down the road, approximately 35 mph, my engine shuts the vehicle off. I loose power everything. i coast for approximately 7 seconds and it automatically comes back on. I called the Jeep shop, and they said one other person from my city has called the same problem in and they hooked it up to the machine and found nothing. This has happened to me 4 times. I have had my jeep for about 4 months. I absolutely love it. I just want to know why it is shutting off. I don’t want to have a wreck.
Thank you if you have a solution…….
I’ve been reading this forum since I found it in Feb 07 and I have learned alot. Thanks again to those who have posted. I ordered my Red Rubicon 4 dr 3/7 with MyGig and the hardtop. It is in D status and from the information that my dealer has , it might not be here until July. Therefore, I could not wait any longer, I tracked down the closest Rubicon to the one I ordered and bought one yesterday. It doesn’t have the freedom hardtop or MyGig, but it has everything else. I can’t wait to get the Mods started. I have planned the Rubicon Express 4.5 inch longarm lift
Walker Evans 17×8.5 beadlocks,37″ tires, Fabfour front bumper and a Jeeperman rear bumper with winches front and rear, and Shrock works sliders to start with. My question is what mods will I need to do to help power the extra weight and larger tires? Does the 3.8 v6 do the job with Mods or am I going to be disappointed and want to swap engines like Burnsville offroad is doing ie) 6.1 Hemi or the 3.1 Diesel. I currently have a duramax diesel w/ allison trans and love it in my GMC truck. Thanks for any information. Concerned that the JK will have the power needed to be an all around vehicle, offroad as well as highway driving?
Ronya; auto or manual? Did you look at all the TSB’s that deal with engine, transmission, stabalizer on the right side of menu to this page? Seems that some of the computer reprogramming TSB or recalls could apply.
I happened upon this forum while researching the 4dr wrangler unlimited. I was very concerned about the problems people were having. For some reason it didn’t stop me from going and test driving one last friday night. Afterdriving one around for about 20 minutes, I was impressed. As impressed as I was, I still needed to think about it. On monday of this week I decided to go test drive them again, and I was still impressed. So as my story goes, I woke up this morning and there just happened to be one in my driveway. Damn the pressure. So far so good. Of course it has only been one full day. The majority of the people at my work came in this morning and said who bought the new jeep? When I said me, they all said I want one so bad. Of course I didnt gloat. Out of about 30 employees, I think 7 drove it, and loved it. Anyway I am glad to be back in the jeep family again. I missed all the other jeep peeps waving when they passed by me.
p.s. I went with the soft top considering all of the “leak” problems with the hard top.
Hi everyone,
I’m currently serving in Iraq and ordered a JK when I came home for mid tour leave in APR. After stumbling across this site, I decided to have my wife check on the status of my Jeep. I guess you can add me to the list of those not getting their Jeep when they expected. The dealer told my wife DC was not accepting orders for 07s when we placed my order. You think they would have told us that at the time. I guess they weren’t planning on letting us know either since the way we found out was by calling the dealer. The dealer told my wife they would begin accepting orders for 08s during the 2nd week of JUN & my order would be submitted then. Hopefully the 08s have the same options I wanted on the 07. We’ll see what happens.
Still BX status and now seeing more and more Rubicons on dealer lots. So much for the lie my dealer told me that I would get my Jeep prior to those placed in dealer inventories.
As to the poster complaining of an engine cutting off mid-drive…I’m not sure if this is a Jeep issue, but on another old car of mine, I had the same problem. The issue was that my ignition wire had come loose from its bracket and was grounding out on the block. Check for loose wires before wasting money at the dealer.
Hi everyone, my name is Rikki and I live in Australia, Queensland and I am actually after a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. They are my most favourite cars and have been after one for quite sometime! I would like to order one, so I could show it off to my friends at school — I just want to see their faces! Do you any close dealers I can phone to place my order for a JK Unlimited (Auzzie) Wrangler?
If so, write to me at
Po Box 1171

For those of you waiting. I ordered my Unlimited Rubicon back in December and just took delivery last Thursday. So far love it! One thing I learned is that the dealers really have no control nor can accurately predict delivery. I would be skeptical of any dates they provide until it hits their lot. Once you order sit back and enjoy the ride. I was in BX forever and in D for over a month. Once it hit D1 status things seemed to move along. I cancled the Mygig about half way through the order (still in BX status)and do think that helped. Still assessing if I’ll add it later. Good luck.
Well, I work And Make The Wrangler You Guys Love I have Owned A 97 TJ 4cyl and a 05 Rubicon Ether One Was my baby! I loved the Rubicon Better ha. But To tell some Of you the Problem with the Leaky Top Still hasnt Been Fixed Just Last Night I was Putting On the T tops yes 300 in one night.there is a big fight going on between DC and who ever makes the hard top about the leek problem. I made the Sugestion to eliminate some of the sorce of the Problem by making it a 1 pice targa top rather the 2 pice.
But im in the Market for a new one going to get a Yellow 2dr Rubicon with Navi(wich is worth the price i play with it all the time) half doors with a sunrider top.
To worn some of you with regular 2dr soft top dont pull down hard to put the rear ot the top on the body!
let me Try that one more time People With the 2dr soft non sunrider, Dont pull down the rear of the top to much than have to the nylon strap (that holds the middle bow to the Back bow) might break on the Driver side Best top was making the strap not long enough, and for a wile was blaming it on the people putting it on I.E. Me and some other workers But the Problem now has been fixed
I love Jeeps And My Job so Ask any thing
My dealer just called me and he said my Unlimited Rubi with myGIG is built and waiting for a rail car. So he said I should have it in maximum 2 weeks. I ordered on Mar 30 and they told me it should be here by July. So they were right I guess.
Anyway, has anyone ever had problems with rocks chipping the paint off the bottom hinges of the back doors? I’ve seen it happen on my friend’s jeep. What’s the deal? Do you need running boards to stop this?
I ordered a Sahara with electronic disconnect and rear lockers. Just got it today without either of those options. Nobody told me or the dealer they wouldn’t be on it. Has anybody received a Sahara with those options?
timmyJ, I’ve had my Rubi for a little over two weeks. The tire treads pick up a lot of gravel which you can hear flying out and hitting the underside of the Jeep. I do have the tube side steps and have not yet noticed any paint chips. However with out something to deflect the rocks it would not surprise me.
I don’t do alot of rock climbing. I was wondering is there a reason that the jeeps do not have mud flaps on them? I am going to take my jeep to oregon where my brother in law makes custom mud flaps. He wants to fit for this new jeep anyways so it works for both of us. I just wanted to know if there is a reason why they don’t come with them?
Hi. I’m thinking of purchasing a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Landrunner. I’m attempting to research the pros and cons of the style of Wrangler; I have found two different reviews that identified the pros, however, I cannot find any negatives either on equipment or comfort.
If there is any information or personal experience - I’d like to hear your feedback.
Thank you.
After the dealership told us DC would start taking orders for ’08s during the 2nd week of June, my wife contacted them the 3rd week of June to see if they submitted our order. They said DC still wasn’t taking orders yet. She contacted DC, who told her they are taking orders & to contact the dealership again. If we have trouble with that dealership, they suggested submitting through another dealership. She’ll try again & we’ll see if we have to find another dealer.
Hey kaibua, I’ve heard that you could not order these options on Sahara’s and if you didn’t get them on your Jeep, you most likely didn’t get the Jeep you ordered.
Hi kathy, you don’t need to be a rock crawler to not want mud flaps on your Jeep as they get in the way and tend to get ripped off by the tires. This typically occurs when in reverse and the flap come into contact with a small rock or even bush which pushes the flap up against the tread of your tires. Ultimately, the tread will grab it and yank it off.
Hi Traci, this website is actually dedicated to the redesigned 2007+ JK Wrangler and not the 1997-2006 TJ Wrangler. The Landrunner you are looking at is the older style Wrangler and I think you will find little in the way of information about it here. However, from what I have seen, the Landrunner is little more than a body kit to make a TJ look more like a Hummer and if there’s any negatives to equipment, it’s that the parts are proprietary and would most likely cost a lot to have anything fixed. As far as comfort goes, nothing should change from factory.
Eddie
Anyone having a problem with rust on the door hinges, at the pivot point[all four hinges]. Picked our “X” model last November. Jeep is washed often. Going to dealer for 12,000 mile check and will find out their reaction. If they replace the hinges, I hope the paint will match.
Jeff
Wait. You can order 2008s? My 2007 hasn’t even been built yet. Maybe I’ll just go for the 2008 and avoid all of the 2007 problems like leaky tops, bad electric, and engine cutoff at highway speeds. It really sounds like DC needs to get their act together.
Chrysler finally recalls the wranglers with the engine cut off problems. I havent had this problem, but at the time I purchased mine I asked the service manager and he said there was a flash update fix for this problem. I have owned mine for 45 days and love it.
HI, FIRST TIME ON THE HERE.
KAIBUA, I ALSO OWN A SAHARA AND GOT ALL THE MECHANINAL UPGRADES I COULD, BUT THE ONES YOU MENTION, (ELECTRONIS DISCONNECT AND REAR LOCKER), IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN ONLY COME ON THE RUBINCON MODELS. ANYWAYS THIS IS MY FIRST JEEP AND I DOUBT I WILL OWN ANYTHING OTHER THAN A JEEP EVER AGAIN. NOT ONLY DO I LOVE IT BUT MY WIFE AND KIDS HAVE A GREAT TIME IN IT ALSO. GOT MINE BACK IN MARCH AND CANNOT WAIT TO FINISH THE MODS. THIS IS A GOOD WEBSITE. GOOD PRESENTATION. GOOD PRODUCTS.
Hi all - I ordered a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and was told by my sales person I could track my order via a website with the last 8 digits of my new VIN# - does anyone know where to find the website? He can’t seem to find it?!
p.s. - I am so excited to be purchasing my new “Mom-mobile” ha ha!
Nikki, I don’t know a website, but you can call 1-800-992-1997 with your VIN and get your status. Status codes are listed above in another reply. I started out trying to order a 2007 in APR when I come home from Iraq for leave. They told me a month later it was too late to submit 07 orders, but they would order an 08 the second week of JUN. I’ve checked back twice & even though DC says they are taking orders, the dealership keeps telling me they can’t order them yet. I think I’m going to look for another dealer. I really wanted to come home to a new JK when I come home in SEP. Oh well, I still have my 84 CJ-7.
I purchased an Unlimited Sahara in April. I put the soft top on in Late may and the right rear Quarter window keeps popping out from the rear door frame and flaps in the wind. The drivers side has never done it. The canvass in the window appears to be to short and fails to be gripped by the rear door when shut. They ordered me a new window which I received yesterday and it does the same thing. Anybody else having this problem?
YES, MY SOFT TOP ALSO DOES THIS BUT ON BOTH SIDES. MY PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE PLASTIC LIP EXTENSIONS THEY GIVE YOU FOR THE TOP. THEY JUST DON’T SEEM TO REMAIN SECURE AS THEY SHOULD AND TEND TO POP OFF OR LIKE YOU SAID THE TOP WILL JUST MAKE IT’S WAY FREE FROM UNDER THE LIP AND FLAP IN THE WIND. I’M DO TO TAKE MINE TO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL AND WILL SEE WHAT THEY SAY. I DON’T THINK THE DESIGN OF SECURING THE REAR WINDOW IS THAT GREAT. HOW IS MY BACK WINDOW SUPPOSE TO REMAIN SECURE WHEN THE PLASTIC LIP PIECES KEEP POPPING OFF?
Hi Prue. Let me know how you make out. I have been to the dealer again and they asked for a few days to look into it with Chrysler. The dealer is a good personal friend of mine for years and I have never been lied to or misled so I’m hopeful he will find out something FACTUAL from Chrysler.
Wow, I wish I had found this web site before I placed my order. I placed my order almost four months ago, April 2. Rubicon, unlimited, dual tops, (freedom & soft top). Yes, I have been in the famous “BG” code since the first of May. I’ve called the 1-800-992-1997 to ask DC / Jeep the status of my order and they keep saying “let me call your dealer and check the status.” Wait a minute. I’m calling the auto company and they don’t know? And they are calling the dealer? i call the dealer, he says let me call DC / jeep and ask them. I think something fishy is going on here. I am starting to think these dealers are on allocation and somehow, maybe they are working thier allocations and special orders in the sequence that they want built? The Sales mamager told me not to look for it for three months. From what I have read above, this is going to take at least six plus months. I’ve wanted a jeep for years. I hope this is going to be worth it. I’m starting to think I should have shopped on the internet until I found one close to the option package I wanted, drove three states over, and just bought it.
Hey all ~ I just called and got a “D” status, which is exactly where my dealer said it was almost 2 weeks ago. They obviously don’t move very fast in production. I did manage to get a “very general and can change at any moment” date of August 11th - so we’ll see.
As this is my third Wrangler - I’m excited nonetheless!
Next question - to those “in the know” I am looking for either a customer spare cover or just really cool ones for my new purchase. Are there sites on the internet I should be looking for where I can order one (or two)?
Also - does anyone know if the Wrangler Unlimited comes with a cover for the hard top? Is this also an after market part?

I read a news article that said the Toledo plant is shut down this week for changeover to the next year’s model. Plant to start back up on the 23rd. DC is pumping out 600 Wranglers a day with 90+% of them being the 4dr unlimited version. They received over 10,000 orders last month from what I am told.
BTW, I’m still waiting from Jan. 2007.
Waiting in L.A.
This link talks about the shut down.

Got my 4 door red rock 3 weeks ago. Love the jeep. Coolest car in town. Fun to drive, and a real head turner. Too bad I now experiencing the same issues other are having.
- right rear side window cant hold it grip and flaps in the wind when I hit 35 mph. If anyone gets a solution, please let us know
- first good rain today, and now I have a wet interior. Have dual top, but had the soft top on (havent had the freedom top on in the rain yet, now scared to!) It pours in right onto the door handles on both front doors. Then felt the padding right in front of the rear speakers on the sound bar. Wet there. Then felt the mats in the back seats wet there too. Wondering now where else is wet. Any tricks of the trade, you all can share to shoring up these leaks, or do I have to make this fair-weather vehicle only. Sounds like dealers are going to give me satisfaction, reading these all these entries, but no where else to turn.
correction. “Sounds like dealers are NOT going to give me satisfaction”
I have the 07 4dr and I have started having a problem with the front suspension at around 40mph. Sometimes when I hit a bump in the road the front end vibrates heavily, and the only way to get it to stop is to slow to about 5 mph. Anyone else have this problem?
p.s. I have not altered the suspension or anything else. Thanks
scott, just had this happen, Was very scary when it happened twice in 1 day on winding roads. Called dealer who said they had not heard of this problem since many years ago with a CJ recall. I had my 4 door sahara towed to dealer where they found the stabalizer leaking. repairs made under my warranty and all is good again. Get to dealer right away. They were glad I towed it. Could be because of what it was or just that I have a winding road decent from 8000 feet down to 5000 feet to get to them. I had my jeep for 8 months before the shut off thing started. About a week before recall came in mail. The dealer also did the recall service so no more stalling either.
Yes I still love my jeep!! The freedom top roof issue requires the roof to be set in the proper order and fashion from manual. This is the only way to not have it leaking. Don’t over screw either is very important.
good luck
kat
My wife checked again with the dealership about the JK I’ve been trying to order since APR. They told her DC hasn’t given them their allocation of ‘08 orders yet, but mine would be the first one to go in when they do. I know Nikki got her ‘08 ordered, has anyone else had ‘08 order allocation problems with their dealership?
Hello guys,
Your site rocks!
I love my 2007 Rubicon 2 doors, but I have a little issue when I started adding things in my JK.
I’ve purchase the 2.5″ Budget Boost with Shocks, the AEV and the superwinch. I’ve install it on my JK Rubicon 2007. I have a problem … my front suspension dropped about 1.25 inches. Can I put a coil spacer or suspension coil to compensate? What do you recommend?
Do you know any product to address my problem without changing the all nine yards?
Thanks for your help
Where’s a service manual for JK? Just got a 2007 Sahara with all 3 tops. Don’t like opening backend and having soft top hit me in chest. Can soft top be removed from vehicle without taking hardtop off first?
Hi all - I thought I’d give you an update on my situation. It’s getting a little sticky now - go figure. So I called the customer service number to get my status. Of course, as expected, it’s still in “D” status. She then volunteered to call the dealership to get more information as to why it has not proceeded any further.
So I let her - here is the result - the new car salesmanager says there isn’t anything holding it up it’s just waiting ot be scheduled. Ok - so I obviously didn’t learn anything. Bummer.
Still waiting on mine (Jan. ‘07). Got my sales rep to give me the e-mail address for DC’s district sales manager and got a cordial e-mail apologizing for the inconvenience and that he would personally check on the matter. Have yet to hear from him again, but my sales rep has been giving me weekly updates…well, not exactly updates as my status is still the same as in May - BG. By the way, MyGigs in the ’08s will not start production until August 31 according to DC’s news letters to the dealers. Thought some of you might like to know.
Having waited this long with no reasonable communication as to why my order is so late, and given the numerous problems the ’07s have experienced, I am seriously looking at other models. I hope all of you have a better experience than I with your Jeeps, because it looks like my money is going somewhere else.
I ordered my Jeep Unlimited Rubicon way back in January and I still am no further ahead in finding ouit when I can expect to get it. I am feeling the same way as ‘Waiting in LA’ that my money would be better spent somewhere else. What kind of company are they running. People like myself are here waiting on their product and they seem to not care about us. What is this bullshit about not being able to find ourt exactly when I can expect to recieve my order and DC customer service is useless. They just told me to call my dealer, who has less info than me. I am a huge Jeep lover and have been for a long time, but if this is how they treat their customers who are eagerly trying to get their product then what will they be like to deal with when you have any problems or concerns with their product?
My patience are gone
Just found this site a week ago and I’ve found it very informative. I just ordered an 08 unlimited Sahara. I’ve never owned a Wrangler so I’m abit nervous when I hear about the rough ride and mileage but the truck looks great. Since they’ve added 4 doors I can now take my family. I let you know when it’s expected.
My wife and I had to wait 3 months to recieve our 2007 Jeep 4 dr……but the wait was well worth it! We test drove a automatic and I personally thought it was under powered BUT the six speed is a beautiful thing! We had a hitch installed to pull our boat and we love it! Only one question for somebody….IS THERE A LIFT KIT THAT I CAN GET FOR THIS JEEP YET???????
Hey all-
I bought my 4dr jeep in June. So far- it has been great- no issues. Until today. Going 70 on the highway, all power went out for about 4-5 seconds tehn came back on. I saw a few posts a while back about this. Was this part of a recall? Or what came of the problem? Any solutions?
Also- I got the soft top and live in NE. Going to try the first winter w/o the freddom (although I really want it!!) and see how it goes and if they improve on what have started….
Lee,
Several companies are making lift kits for the JKs. A couple good places to look are Quadratec.com and 4wd.com. Once you find what you’re lookin for, being more flex or just room for bigger tires; look at the company’s web page for more info on the kit to see if it meets your needs. I would also look at JK-forum.com to see if other people have comments on the kit you plan to purchase.
Good luck!!
Julie,
The NTSB is investigating several incidents of engine cutoff with the new Wrangler. They have yet to nail down the issue, but I had a problem like this on an earlier car, and it turned out to be my ignition wire grounding out on the block. Not saying this is the problem here, but I’d be willing to bet that it’s an electrical issue of some kind.
Just bought 4-door Rubi Unlimited yesterday (Silver/Dual Top/MyGig) I traded my 06 TJ Rubi Unlimited which has been suffering from clutch recall issues in recent weeks. I must say this is a completely different automobile, I loved the TJ but this is amazing. A little hard to get used to with the longer wheelbase and it feels a little less nimble (more numb than the 2-door) but that’s understandable.
I do have a request - has anyone been able to activate the uconnnect (bluetooth) to mygig? I understand from previous posts this is an issue with the rear view mirror, but shouldn’t there be another option or a workaround? Anyone out there tried this on their own?
Thanks!
I have a stone white rubicon, unlimited. Has anyone added any type of cool air intake or Jet performance chip to the JK? What about performance exhaust? Other than needing an injection of horsepower, the 07 is pretty cool. Also, is there any way to shut off the annoying automatic door locks.
Iron John
Great site, I have learned a lot! I test drove a 07 4dr Sahara and had decided that I would rather have a black 08. After reading this site and hearing that Canadians might face a 4-6 month delay (Farr from my dealers 8 week estimate), I am a little hesitant of taking my deposit down. Now the question…Do I settle for a color that I don’t really want or hope that production issues are sorted out for 08? Any guesses as to the long waits getting sorted out, or if they will get an action plan together. I really feel for all of the people waiting so long, I am not sure if I would have handled it with as much grace.
I received over a month ago a recall for the engine stalling/shut down issue. I took the jeep in and had the recall work done but didn’t pay attention to what exactly was wrong. They mentioned computer. As I posted and heard others mention I had a problem with the stablizer which we found out was that it was leaking and they replaced it. The dealer had not heard of this issue but I have read other postings about others also driving down the road and all of a sudden the whole car starts to shake and shudder uncontrolably.
I ran into a guy last week who went into the dealer and purchased off the floor my exact car that I waited 3 months to get. A silver 4wd loaded sahara and find this most ironic while some folks are waiting 8 months. Could it be the dealers fault that you guys don’t have your jeeps yet? All in all I love this jeep still and my experience with the dealer and info he was getting from DC was very, very good. I still hear the 08’s will have a 3-4 month wait at least.
Alan,
Do not hold your breath waiting for production issues to be sorted out or actions plans to be executed. I’ve been trying to get a JK ordered since April. Between no longer being able to order ’07s in Apr, and the dealership not yet having their allocation for ‘08 orders, 4 months have gone by since I gave them my deposit & I haven’t even got an order placed yet! Unless you are a very patient man, I would recommend beginning a search for a vehicle as close to the one you want & be satisified knowning a weekend road trip to buy your new Jeep is way shorter (and more fun) than the long wait you will endure with DC’s ordering process/torture.

A shame because there are a lot of parts available and any option you can think of (roof racks- as per above post) can now be found. The sema 2006 link on the right has a vehicle with roof racks. New news from my dealer: MyGig Rubicons will not start production until late September. This is four weeks later than what I was told just 2 weeks ago.
Great Site, Ordered an 08 Rubicon Unlimited, MyGig, Red Rock, They said I’ll have it 8-10 weeks..end of October…Time to get rid of the H2! Someone tell me the best 4″ Lift for 35’s??
Thanks, Rick
The uncontrollable front end shuttering I got sometimes at 40mph was resolved in 15 minutes at the dealer by replacing the steering dampner. My service writer and the service manager said they havent seen it on a 4dr until now. They actually called it the death wobble. That’s nice. Anyways the problem is fixed and I am happy with the overall performance with the wrangler 4dr.
Soft Top Leakage on Unlimited: I finally got fed up and took off the soft top which leaked on both sides onto the front door handles and then filled up the drivers foot well. I also have a leak which drips down into the cargo area behind the rear seats (only in a heavy rain) and the passengers side canvas window still keeps popping out from between the rear door seal and door frame and flaps happily in the wind. My freedom top hasn’t leaked yet but the soft top is crap! The dealer said that Chrysler is looking for a fix and they have no timeline as to when. Anyone else out there with the same issues which have been corrected?
i took delivery of my 07 red rubicon 2dr back in jan 07 and i love it!
I have added the skyjacker 4″ lift, fab four front bumper with a warn 9.5 winch a bestop rear bumper cold air intake gibson cat back exhaust and a jet stage II chip. can’t decide which wheels and tires to get but I think I will go with a 33′x 11.5′ but we’ll see. The only complain I have with the jeep is the weak motor. Lot’s of noise with crappy performance. Anyone put on a supercharger yet?
my plastic clips that hold the base of the back window in place also pop off all the time. I asked the dealer about it and they told me (and I quote) “It’s a jeep, what do you expect?” water runs down the back window and inside the tailgate when it rains if the clips are not secure.
anyone else have this issue?
I have the soft top…07 JK Rubby
schpeener September 5th, 2007 11:38 am
my plastic clips that hold the base of the back window in place also pop off all the time. I asked the dealer about it and they told me (and I quote) “It’s a jeep, what do you expect?” water runs down the back window and inside the tailgate when it rains if the clips are not secure.
anyone else have this issue?
I have the soft top…07 JK Rubby
YES. The passengers side clip keeps popping off. I haven’t noticed any leakage into the cargo area from there. I was just at the dealership again ( I make notes each time I go as to our conversation and attend weekly) to express my concern as to the soft top leaking. I have measured and photographed other tops and clearly there are different tops out there. Chrysler says they know there is a problem and are working on it with the soft tops. We will see.
I took my 4 dr. JK on the beach for for some surf fishing. I aired down my tires to the max and it just struggles. Its almost sad how this jeep performes in heavy sand. My 03 grand Cherokee, 00 Cherokee both with the 4.0 work great in the sand even the liberty was fantastic. The JK looks like a LION but it has the heart of a sheep. So far the dealer fixed the the stalling problem and changed the streering box, she was all over the road. My next venture is to figure out where the water is coming in from, everytime it rains the front drivers well and passengers well fill with water but its refreshing on a hot day (just kidding) can,t wait for my lease to expire. Never thought I would say that about any of my Jeeps.
how much is the lease per month on your jk? is it a rubi or an X?
how many months? I paid cash for mine because everyone always talks about how they hold their value so i was curious how good the lease terms are.
I had problems with the back side windows blowing out too. I went to the dealer and they acting like it had never happened and never heard of it. A young salesman came over and started messing around with the window and found it was installed wrong. The plastic leading edge needs to be inserted into the crevice in the door jam and wrapped around. There are two sewn seams on the front of the window piece. They should not be visible when the door is shut. When you put the window in, make sure no Velcro is connected and the window can only be zipped about 1/4 of the way, then pull on it to insert it in the crevice. No problems since. Lucky I had a young guy who wanted to help and not just ignore my after my purchase.
Also contrary to what the manual says, the bolts on the doors need a #45 torx head not a #40 to remove them.
i tried unplugging the wire harness for the doors and I couldnt figure out how to disconnect it I didnt want to force it and end up breaking it.
is there a trick to it? I’d love to remove the doors and make it a true jeep experience!

I just went and looked at it and understand what you mean. I will give it a try this weekend after I remove the hardtop. I hope this works and thank-you for taking the time to explain this.
schpeener September 11th, 2007 10:55 am
There is a trick. There is a little red sliding locking part where the two parts connect. You have to push the red part to the side so the lip part of the red slider is sticking out. Once it is slide to the side there is a piece in the middle of the door side of the connector that you have to push in with your thumb. You should be able to easily pull them apart while pushing with your thumb. I hope I didn’t make it too complicated but it isn’t explained in the manual. The first time I had to sit upside down in the passenger’s seat with a flashlight to figure it out. Make sure you move the seats back to give you room. It might be easier to do the rear doors first.
Let me know if you need more info. Remember the torx is a different size on the door than the hard top. Good luck.
i just read an article that stated that wranglers hold 73% of their original value after 5 years! this is higher than any other truck on the road!
I live in central ca area and am wondering if the Project JK crew ever crawl around here. I keep watching your videos you post and stills. Looks like you are having lots of fun. My JK is still mostly stock due to finances but it seems to wheel pretty good already. Hey Wayolife, overall set up so far looks to be very capable. Thats about as extreme as I want to change my JK. Does it effect the daily drive aspect. Anyway keep posting the footage later.
Hey Coyot’e, we haven’t yet but we have been kicking around the idea of doing a run up to Garcia Ridge and Pine Mountain. Check our schedule of run here: http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=15625
Eddie
Hey all,
I am new on here as of this writing, however, I have been listening to all of you for about a year now. I have followed all of your comments with the 1st run of the 4 door wrangler and appreciate the fact that everyone has passed on the problem issues with the JK. I work in the aviation manufacturing industry and understand the problems faced with a new product line, thus why I waited out the first year of the model run. However, I just ordered my 08′ Rubicon and am curious if anyone knows what the wait time on this model is? I figure the long waits in the past were due mainly to the 3 piece top issues, but haven’t seen any posts in some time as to anyone having long waits now. If anyone has any new info it would greatly be appreciated……I am anxious to get it. Keep up the great information highway.
By the way, wayoflife, the JK-Project is the best looking 4 door I have seen by far. Nice work.
Been waiting since mid-January 2007 for a 4dr Rubicon. Still in BG status as of Sept. 12.
Waiting in LA,
Sorry to hear that. Did they lose your order?
Has anyone had the problem on 2007 Unlimited that about every fourth start or so, it takes a second or two for it the engine turnover to start?
Also having leaking problems between the “T” in the freedom tops, and a short in the passenger’s side headlight…
It’s a 2007 Black Sahara Unlimited I bought two weeks ago and love it, especially the lifetime powertrain warranty… But these issues are scaring me.
I saw Pine Mountain on the map but couldn’t find Garcia Ridge. It looks like thats an hour or two south of us. If you get a date then we definetly want to join your merry group.I have noticed that your outtings are low key family oriented. Plus mixing with other JKs will give me ideas on what will work for me. I drive mine exclusively every day. It has about 15k on it. So rugged and drivable.
Take it easy,Coyot’e
Could anyone tell me how to get the hard top retaining bolt pieces out from where the hard top mates to the rail of the jeep so that I can run the velcro straps through the hole as it states in the owners manual to retain the soft top while it is retracted. It is impossible to do it with the pieces locked in the rail.
I wrote a while back about the rear pieces of my soft top coming undone also. Well, since then i have used it more and more, even had the back of the jeep packed full of camping gear pressing against the soft top and the rear pieces hold just fine now. It may just take a break in period for everything to work the way its suppose to, you know how stiff those tops are when you first get them. It may give others a little hope that there tops are not junk, it just takes a little more use, a little more stretching. I don’t have much to say in the way of leakage as I live in an area were we havn’t gotten much rain so far this year. But those months are coming.
Pickle,
If they did, they’re not admitting it.
I am a newbie to the whole jeep thing. Now that I am done with school and have a job I figure I have the time to get into it. I just bought a 2007 4dr x about 3 weeks ago. I can look at pictures all day long, but figure the best way to get info is from folks like you. Couple questions to get me going if any one has any answers.
1). Why do you dissconnect the sway bar? Is it hard when its not a “Rubby”?
2). When and Why do you reduce tire air pressure? How much do you take out?
3) I am struggling over two comments I have heard. Bigger tires lower lift is better or bigger lift and smaller tires? Any suggestions?
Any input or advice is helpful at this point. Thanks
Hey ken:
1. Disconnecting your front sway bar links will allow your front axle to have much greater articulation on the trail. And, when you can keep all four on the floor, you will have more traction and stability. If you do not have a Rubicon with its e-disco, all you will need is an 18mm socket and wrench to physically disconnect the links from the axle mounts and a bungie cord to hold everything out of the way - very simple to do
2. I would recommend airing your tires down to about 10-15 psi whenever you go on a trail run. This not only allows your tires to have better traction as its foot print will be maximized and wrap over obsticals, it will also make your ride a lot more comfortable in general as your tires will absorb a lot of the bumps in the road.
3. The taller you go, the higher your center of gravity is and in my experience, this is never a good thing. The school of thought today is that you want to get as much lift as you need to clear as big of a tire as you plan to run. Need I say, a big lift and small tires is a terrible idea - trust me.

Eddie -
Thanks for the answers. I feel stupid owning a jeep and not knowing anything else. Here are some more questions if anyone has the knowledge, again I would appreciate it.
1) I have heard mixed thoughts on poly spacer lift kits. Are they good, bad? Pros, Cons? I am only looking to put 33’s on my JK but I need a 2″ lift. I agree only go as I as you have to to clear the tires. Besides I like the look better.
2)In picking out a winch, and your car weighs 3500 lbs. Will a 4000lb winch do?
3)Whats up with the dana axles? I always hear all these numbers and ratios thrown around. I understand they are heavier, but whats the benifet? When are they needed?
Thanks so much if you can provide any answers.
Ken
Any more leakers out there? Has anyone had a dealer actually fix the problem?
1st step…admit you have a problem…Well, I am leaking after owning this 07 Rubi for only 2 months. I’ve noticed it before, but really noticed it when I went on a trip recently and left it parked outside. When I got back off the trip, I sat down in that seat and it was soaked. Water leaking in from the driver side where the top, door and seal all connect. It trickles down the plastic door frame and drips onto the door, floor, and seat. Help!
Since my funds are limited I think maybe it might be best if I install free flow intake, stage 2 chip and catback. Later suspention mods and taller tires. offroad it seems to have plenty of grunt but in a head wind on the freeway that’s another story.
After finally returning from a year in Iraq last week, I made it down to the Jeep dealership were I put a deposit down on a 4 door Rubi custom order back in April. I believe I figured out why my JK hadn’t been ordered yet. Everyone who worked there in April is now gone. Apparently when the new personnel came in, they cleaned out the file cabinets too because there was no record of my order whatsoever. Thankfully I kept my paperwork & the dealership honored the deal I had made with the old dealership. My order was finally placed yesterday (after 5 months) & I was told I should expect the JK in 30-45 days. Hopefully, I’m finally on my way to JK ownership.
Which rack is that on the back of your JK… with the cans? Wanting to get one just like that. Also, do you know the capacity? Thanks.
Hey Trent, you are looking at an LoD rear bumper tire carrier with trail rack and gas can mounts and you can buy one here:
http://www.4×4xplor.com/lod/search.php?pg=1&stext=jk&nobox=true
As far as towing capacity goes, it should be able to pull whatever the JK is rated for which I believe is 3,000 lbs.
Eddie
I have an 06 jeep wrangler sport. I don’t know anything about jeeps but i’ve been having a problem with the rubber seal that is at the top of the windshield and the hardtop. It keeps falling down and won’t stay up.Any suggestions? The top has not leaked yet but i fixed my always wet floor problem by putting a peice of water hose on the ac water discharge so that it hung down lower and didn’t blow back in.Any advice would be appreciated. Connie
Wayoflife,
I haven’t received my Rubi yet, but I had a question for you? I used to have an 80′ cj7 several years ago. If you went through any type of water you had to repack the bearings. I have a hard time believing this system(front spindles especially) are completely water tight, but are they? Or, do they need repacked after waterfording anything above about 10″? Thanks
Wayoflife,
I just purchased a 08 Jeep green unlimited. I was wondering if you or anybody could comment on the Skyjacker 2.5″ Standard Lift with Hydroshocks. I haven’t seen too much information on the lift or installation info on the net. Any personal experiences/biases? Thanks in advance.
I’ve had the JK 4 door now for 9 months and the Freedom Top has not given birth to any leaks despite constantly taking it on and off all summer. It runs great. No problems in sand, snow or small boulder/riverbed duty so far.
The only things I have in mind for upgrades right now are 3 inch lift and a bigger set of tires (I went with 16 inch rims since tires are less likely to twist off the smaller rim when softened up for rock climbing.) and a Ramsey winch mounted in an AEV Front Bumper with some Delta halogens. (done)
And half doors. (waiting)
Just like my old TJ that I miss now that it’s gone.
I’m new 2007 Jeep Wrangler owner, I have a leak problem with the soft top. I have notice when I look into the jeep after it has rained for a while. There is rain over my seat and down my door. I have return and said something to the dealer and they told me I was wasting there techs time. I just want to know am I going nuts or does this happen to some other new jeep owners.
Will someone please let me know!
Thank you
Kelly E Ross
Kelly, My 4dr soft top leaks only on the drivers side, but in 2 different places. It leaks close to the windshield post, and at the front of the rear door where the tab is located to remove the soft top. My front door inside gets wet along with the front part of my seat, and my drivers seat belt gets soaked from where the water comes in, at the rear door. I dont know if there is a fix for the problem yet.
Yes it does happen and alot of people have the same issue. I did.
I took it back to the dealership and it was more extensive that I thought and they replaced the whole soft top.
Has anyone heard of control arm issues on the ‘07 Rubi? This morning apparently mine just broke when turning. hey are trying to attribute it to the 3″ lift. Also They said this caused damage to the axle? This does not seem right. How can simply turning, like pulling away from my house really, Break a control arm?!
Might I add it is only a 5 month jeep. I have heard others saying the welding is below par also. Anyone else? Maybe it was just a bad part?
It’s funny how somebody talks about the soft top leaking just last week and I have had the problem with my 4dr before, but after this morning it is immediately going in the shop. For the first time during a hard rain, it came in on the center of my dash and down onto the radio. Luckily I had a towel there to cover it with. Water was literally pouring in on the drivers side by the windshield post, and also at the front of the rear door. The water comes in and lands on the top of the seat belt and runs down on to my shoulder which in turn soaked my shirt on my way to work. I love my 4dr wrangler, but this isn’t going to work.
Okay I read all the posts, the comment on disconnecting the harness to take the doors off an 2 door 08 wrangler. I didnt get it…
I saw the red lip thing, clicked it the other way, and now im clueless on what to do next. if someone knows what im talkin about, please, in detail so that a 5 year old can understand, please explain what to do afterwards.
If I sound pissed…i am. Im doing this for my little brother who got a brand new char when I got a 94 wrangler and I had to pay for it myself.
Is the radio the only part that can short out from a leak? Just got my 08 Sahara Unlimited Monday. Absolutely love it. It did rain yesterday and today and I have the leak where the two front panels meet on the hardtop. I had the two panels off for the first time today and hopefully reseating them will do the trick. Not having owned a Jeep before, I wondering what tolerance for rain the other parts have?
Pull the red “lip thing” out. Then push the black tab in and pull the two ends of the connector apart. It is a pain in the a$$. I actually accidntally broke the retainer that holds them to the body.
I called DC this week to check the status on my 4 door Rubi I ordered a month ago. It’s in BG status right now. It’s good to finally hear it’s actually being built after trying to get it ordered since APR.
I have just come from the dealer. I have a 5 month old, May 2007 4 door Unlimited. We had a drought in Ohio until this week. I have discovered a multigallon leak with my soft top. The service rep. confirmed I have the top closed up properly. I told the dealer I want a hard top and will pay the difference. I am waiting for reply. After reading some replies above that the hardtops leak as well, I would just as soon get my money back. I paid sticker price and you know how dealers ream you on price as soon as you drive off the lot. I guess with corporate greed running rampant as it is I should expect no different. Dave
hey i’m looking for a aftermarket radio harness. can anyone tell me where to get one for an 07 jeep wrangler, and is there any new information on the engine stalling , i bought mine in may of 07 it has tried to stall out 3 times any info on this would be appreciated
Roy, If you are wondering if your vehicle has a recall but you didn’t know, cut and paste this web page in browser
http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.jsp?screenName=recall&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm%28%27R%27%29
place the last 8 digets of your VIN# and it will show you any recalls for your vehicle that need to be done.
There was a fix order for the stalling and a recall twice now for brakes. I did the first recall about 3 months ago and today recieved a notice for Reprogram Electronic Brake Control Module. Apparently without the fix there could be a “momentary delay in braking when coasting up a hill during certain conditions. This could increase the vehicles stopping distance and cause a crash without warning”.
ordered my JK 2-door yesterday….can’t wait til it gets here..they said it will arrive the week of X-mas…so merry X-mas to ME!!!
Checked again on my 4-door Rubi I ordered in SEP. It moved from BG to BX status, but the dealer couldn’t give me an idea of when I might see it, but at least it’s scheduled to be built now. I’ll be glad when it’s finally assigned a VIN.
Update from 7/18/07. I ordered a 4-dr Ribicon through my small local D/C/J dealer. Placed the order 4/2/07. I was one week short of six months when my dealer cancealed the order. A neighbor of mine was standing in the dealership when the owner and I had words. Two weeks later he (neighbor) told me I found a dealership that has about 20 4-dr waranglers. A couple of them are Rubicons. Checked the dealer’s web page and found the exact model, w/ all the options, I had ordered (except color). My neigbor picked up a 4 dr sahara the same day I picked up my Rubicon. Another neighbor of ours picked up a 4-dr Sahara a week later. Love the Rubicon.
These dealers are on allocations. Small local dealers can’t always get 4-dr wranglers, reguardless what they tell you. At one time this year, DC had over 60,000 on order. Shop around you might find what you are looking for. But wether you special order or go shopping, be prepared to spend some time on finding what you want. The other dealers I talked to after my order was cancealed started talking to me about starting my six month wait period all over. I got lucky. And yes it was worth the effort.
One other topic here, I bought mine through a program discount. I found several dealers that had the model I was looking for during my search, but refused to sell me the jeep (4-dr rubicon) under a purchase program. Told me they are selling at full MSRP and dealers don’t have to honor discount programs.
My JK Rubicon displays a message where the odometer reading is that says:”change oil”. I do and I have. How do I get this to clear? Thanks!
I purchased a 2007 4 door Wrangler Unlimited X, pretty much loaded. I live in Calgary, Canada. I too have a leak with the soft top, but my hard top is ok (no leaks) so far. They have tried three times to fix my leaky soft top, but no luck. My hard top is on now for the winter, so we’ll have to try again in the spring.
I do have a few issues though:
1) My radio cuts out, and re-powers. Of course it is hard for the dealer to find the problem as it’s always working fine when I bring it in. I wish it would cut out and stay that way.
2) There is an annoying squeak everytime I accelerate, or let off the gas. Speed doesn’t matter, it happens at fast and slow…bumps or smooth conditions. My dealer has changed many things with no luck..
Has anyone had these two similar issues, and come up with a fix?
Also, any fixes for the leaky soft top yet?
Hi Eddie,
I just bought my new rubicon 4dr last week. Selling a well built Toy 4runner as a result. What happens to your take off parts? Like you I’m in the OC. I don’t mind hand-me-downs….if the price is right!
WoL Eddie. Hey we got a chance to check out Garcia’s Ridge. It is pretty cool not super challenging but a good outting none the less.I am running stock JK with 33s. The trail is quite over grown with mazzanita and brush. We scratched the heck outta the sides and plastic windows. We were down there the day after thanksgiving and only saw one other rig the entire time. We also checked out santa margarita lake. Very nice area. I haven’t located Pine mountain yet. If you guy’s decide to run the ridge count us in. My email is still messed up I can’t log in yet, and that means I can’t get the confirmation to join the forum. I will keep checking to see if you plan to come up this way. Your group seems very mellow and family oriented and thats the type of thing we look for. We see a few JKs around here but I think most of them stay on pavement. We are heading up to Tahoe area for some R&R, then up to southern oregon to visit family. As I said before we are running 33s so can’t get chains on front maybe they will work on back. I am running the cooper stt seems to be good tire so far. Worked great at garcia’s. Have a good holiday all.:)
Great job on this website! That being said - I certainly hope not to offend anyone but I am absolutely amazed at how many people are so stoked about and buying such a poorly designed and built Jeep. There are countless TSB’s on this Jeep and it doesn’t seem to be slowing up. Yeah, it looks really cool. But 4×4′ing isn’t about looks. It’s about getting where you’re going. I drove an unlimited a while back and I must say was quite impressed with it’s handling on the pavement. The engine is quite pathetic though. No power - I was driving an automatic though, which shouldn’t be an excuse. I really wanted one of these new Jeeps until I found out about all the problems. I have also seen alot of nightmare stories about Jeep vehicles on the web. It seems in most cases it is like pulling teeth to get warrenty repairs and admissions of fault from Jeep on major issues. I certainly am not about to reward a company who obviously doesn’t care about the product they sell by purchasing one. I ended up buying a 1987 FJ60 LandCruiser which is a MONSTER! Can’t help but wonder when I see jeeps broken down on even the easist part of the trails [which is everytime I go wheeling & I always offer assistance [wheelers stick together!]] - Jeeps are just not built to withstand the trails - you have to do a lot of mods to get them there - AFTER spending over $30K. I know a guy at work that has $60K in his ‘06 Rubicon. My neighbor bought an Unlimited and has had nothing but problems. I feel for her because her NEW Jeep seems to be in the shop more than she drives it and she told me she is very disappointed and will probably end up getting rid of it. Also - Why don’t they sell the diesel engine in the USA? Not ranting and raving - I’m just really disappointed because this new Jeep has so much potential and I would love to own one, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to deal with all of the crap that comes along with it. I do think this site is great - and wish you all the best of luck with your new Jeeps.
Johnny as with any new design there are bound to be some issue’s, and likewise bound to be dealers that drag their feet. I am driving an unlimited X auto. You are right hiway power sux. But offroad in lo range no problem. I have been to the dealer for TSBs but they generally take care of it within just a few miniutes. The FJ is a great rig, and your friend at work might be spending his money on the wrong stuff. A good example of money well spent is WOL Eddie’s rig. It look’s to be quite capable. Take it easy and enjoy your 87.
Hi coyot’e,
I went back and looked at the 4 pages of TSB’s and Safety Recalls and realized that all the pages are the same. Still there are 41 TSB’s and 3 Safety Recalls which seems a little excessive to me. Some of the issues seem like they could definately be life threatening, such as the issue with the leaking steering stabilizer. It seems that the aftermarket parts prices for jeeps are alot higher than other vehicles. This was a consideration I made before purchasing my FJ60. It sounds like your are happy with your Unlimited which I am glad to hear. These JK’s are really cool. I think at the very least they could have made sure the freedom tops don’t leak. Alot of people have had that problem. How are your freedom tops holding up? I hope they get all of the issues worked out and decide to put a diesel or at least a stronger gasoline engine under the hood. I do have plans to buy a new 4×4 in a couple of years and as it now stands it would be between the Jeep JK and the FJ Cruiser. The FJ Cruiser is ahead in points at the moment.
I hear ya. I have the soft top and no leaks so far. I have had this thing just over a year and have about 18k on it. I looked around at most of the new 4×4s and accually checked the fj out first. I liked what I saw as far as quality. Can’t beat a toyota. And you know they offroad great. But I was switching from a F-250 superdookie and the fj just didn’t have enough room and access to the back is tight. The price was way higher as well. Shortly after we got the jeep we were at hollister hills park messing around and we followed an fj for a bit. It was capable but seemed top heavy. I think the JK has a better stance. So far it has felt stable and solid. Believe me there are things about the JK that I am not happy with, such as the interior panels scuff/scratch way too easy. The back seat is too upright, and if you have anything under it you have to relocate it before folding it down. The rear head rest are not adjustable. No power outlets in back seat. Jeep knows the purpose of these and yet they don’t give you adequate mud/snow protection with out paying more. I have been viewing this site for a good while and like the fact that most of the mods Eddie and crew are making don’t take away from daily driver. I also dig the comradery they exibit. I/we recently went wheeling down at Pozo and scratched the heck outta plastic and to some degree the paint. It was the first battle scars we have suffered. If I was driving a 30k plus FJ then it might have been worse. Hey Johnny what area are you located in? And do you have good places to thrash? Anyway I am going in for the brake TSB wednesday morning, maybe I can squeeze a free oil change outta them.
My 2008 rubicon has a apeedometer that does not work when the temperature hits 32 degrees. I live in Anchorage so it’s an annoying problem.
I have a heated garage so the speedometer needle works on the way to work, but at the end of the day if the temperature is below 32 degrees it refuses to move. The odometer continues to work normally even if the speedometer needle lies dead on the dial.
I have 2000 miles on the vehicle. The problem has been present since the gitgo.
Thanks,
Ron

HaHa, Nice…I like the way you think [free oil change]. I’m in Washington State 30 miles North of Seattle. There are some unbelievable places to wheel up here. The last time I went out - I went to Walker Valley and definately got some battle scars. I’m talkin’ intense…One of the owners of the company I work for had a Pinzgauer out there that day - He got stuck once and popped a bead twice. My FJ60 made it through but not without slight body damage [on both sides] and a ripped off tail light cover…lol…I have a Lock Right Locker by PowerTrac in the rear - great locker for the price. My friends Jeep CJ7 made it through pretty good with no lockers. I really do like Jeeps [I love the compact size] and I too have been viewing this site since late ‘06 drooling over the new JK’s. The guy that has $60K in his ‘06 Rubicon can go places I never imagined a 4×4 could go. Seems like I read on one of your previous posts you were in Oregon for a wheeling trip. If you’re ever up this way I would be more than happy to take you on a wheeling trip.
Just got back from Tahoe/Reno/Oregon….And vise/versa. Snow,Ice,Mud. Had chains but never needed them. Cooper STT. Couple of things that need help. 1. heater just can’t cut it. I’m in a t shirt sweating and back seat is freezing 2 degrees in klammath falls on the 20th. 2. washer nozzle kept freezing, not the tank. As noted before in my posts I Dig our JEEP. I have been in all these situations many times before, and always got around regardless. But I really felt comfortable and safe rolling through whatever We pointed it at. So relaxed that I got pulled over up on 139 going 77. Just a warning. Whew!
I bought my 07 JK a couple of months ago. It is the 9th Jeep I have owned. I am amazed at the amount of TSB’s out there. I have had mine in the shope a couple of times for minor things. The first visit always ended with “We couldn’t duplicate your problem”. Problem was the Jeep wouldn’t always start on the first try and the drive was slugish when taking off. Then I found a TSB that the cam sensor was defective and could cause this. They replaced it and wow my jeep drives great. Then I had an issue where there is wind noise coming in from the front seal and a squeel from the front right tire. Again, they said “We couldn’t duplicate your problem”. I found two more TSB’s and guess what? Problem fixed. I think DC needs to work on better trouble shooting for their fleet mechanices. It would save me time and them money.
Hi OH58Crewchief -
Just wondering where you are finding all the TSBs? Is there a list online somewhere?
I’m in Canada and have some similar problems as you have described and my dealer says the same things…can’t duplicate the problem…
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Russ
Russ,
On the Project JK homepage, look at the links on the right hand side. All the TSBs are listed there & grouped by category. Hope that helps.
ordered 4 door red rock rubicon Dec 06. Dealer told me early Jan 07 the door hinges were recalled. Went back 2 weeks later and dealer told me it was in the makings. I made up my mind the dealership must not have taken me serious, dumb female, probably didn’t know what she was talking about etc. I ordered ALL the options I could and never heard back from them until Jan 08!!! The jeep came in, dealer called and I was upset at first. I went to the dealership and low and behold “RUBI” was calling my name. I got MyGig factory installed BUT..the voice recognition and the blue tooth are not connected. I am in the mix of getting the dealer to either find after market or get it connected. Anyone else have this problem with MyGig. LOVE THE JEEP!!
Unfortunately, from the factory, this option does not work. However, there are several aftermarket solutions that will get it to work. I know it’s really dumb but it is the truth.
Eddie
Hey Eddie,
When you hear of some aftermarket places please let me know!! I do alot of driving and the bluetooth connection would be great!
Thanks

Hey Eddie, the info on steering stops was perfect timing. I put on the cooper stt 285/70/17s and am getting slight bumping on the sway bar at full turn. I have been checking your calander for trips up this way. It is a long haul for us out to death valley. I have a question about the hubs from solid that just came out. Would installing these significantly increase gas mileage? They are 1,400 a set I believe, and since I don’t have a rubi (Unlimited X) would it be better to up grade the front axle assembly to the 44? I mean we are’nt rock krawling this rigg, but we want durability. Just having fun trying not to break my daily driver.
P.S. Are thier any Project JK members up here in the salinas valley area? Or are there any plans to start in this area?
Thanks Coy Williams
Thanks 84jeeper…It really did help as the squeek, and radio TSBs are being corrected as we speak. Thanks for the info, this site is really informative.
Thanks,
Russ
No problem Russ, glad to help a fellow Jeeper.
Well, after a very painful 9 months, I’m finally a proud Rubi owner. After calling DC this month & finding out my dealer had cancelled my order (they’re being bought by the Ford dealer across the street), I started looking for my Jeep on my own. If I haven’t lost hair, it’s gotten grayer! I actually found the exact Jeep I ordered, including color, only an hour away. Although it’s a 2007 with 6000 miles, I wasn’t looking a gift horse in the mouth. I brought it home in a snowstorm last night & enjoyed my first full day with her today. As the the case with my CJ, the buildup will probably never be complete. I treated her to a spankin’ new set of Husky Floor Liners today & already have established a birthday/Christmas wish list for years to come. I just have to remember I have a CJ list also & not neglect her. Anyway, she’s a Steel Blue Rubicon Unlimited w/dual tops, trailer package, pwr windows, Satellite radio & a dealer installed Superlift 3″ lift w/35s. After filling my door handles with snow, ice & road grime today, a set of Bushwacker Cut-Out Flares are next on the list. Thanks for all the great info Eddie, I’ve passed this site on to every JK owner I know. To everyone else….keep the shiny side up & have fun out there.
It truely is a Way Of Life!!
Hey Eddie, wich cb antenna mount are you using now?
im tring to get a anywhere from a 3.5″ lift to a 5″ to try to fit a few 35″ M/Ts under my JK, but the dealership says that it would mess up a few things in the tranny, ok now when they parts guys at dealerships talk i usually tune them out but it still got me wondering if i should double check, they recommend the 2.5″ lift with 33″ tires instead, i dont think it would be a big deal but they made it sound a little scary what do you think?
Has anyone seen A pillar gauge pod that will fit the JK. I wanted to put in an oil and voltage gauge. I do not like the idiot lights that come with the JK.
I feel youre pain i ordered my 2007 jk rubicon unlimited jan. 5 2008 picked it up on sept.29 2008 9 months but very worth the wait i love it i have a 2.5″ skyjacker but just ordered full traction 4″ ultimate lift why are you lookin to install the 4″ over the 3″ you already have
I am picking my Wrangler Unlimited V6 Auto Renegade up on Tuesday. I can’t wait. I have a long list of additions to buy over the coming months! We’re coming into Winter here in Australia, so am keen to head out to the bush camping in our mild Queensland weather. Great time of the year. Wrangler Unlimited’s are still hard to come by with up to three months waiting period. I am lucky that I picked up someone’s cancelled order. Nice being at the right place at the right time!
Do you have you posted specs up to date?
sorry, the list is not up to date and needs to be.
hey guys i drive a 2 dr jk which is fine but my sister is drivin the 4 door with the hard top and everytime u hit a bump there is a rattling noise above the drivers left shoulder and i was wondering if anyone knows what this is or how to fix it?
Hi,
I own a JK Rubicon and would like to swap the T-case(4:1) with the regular Sahara T-case.
Would there be any implictions or failures in the electonic parts etc???
nope, it should bolt right up but is there a good reason why you would want to do this? might be a whole lot more trouble than it’s worth.
looking for some police style black rims with chrome style center hub caps for my ‘07 rubicon unlimited 4 door, any feedback?
I just picked up a freedom top for my 2dr- had FINALLY fixed leaking on door/winshield, now it’s moved to the drivers-rear (of the “freedom-panel.” Anyone know of best fixes?
Ordered my Jeep 9/06, finally came in LATE 11/06. Freedom hard top leaked from the get go. Been in for the fix and still leaks from time to time. NOW…my stereo changes stations by itself and becomes completely unusable. Won’t shut off, sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Can’t keep my chosen station on. Anyone had this problem?
Oh also in the two years I have had this car…had to replace the hood from hail damage. It was a nightmare because it is next to impossible to get replacement parts. Also, had a sluggisg start when turning the key form day one (a lot!). Dealer said they could never get it to happen for them. Had two recalls, and twice while driving have lost complete power. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jeep and this car, but I think there are a lot of issues with this 4 dr model out of the gate.
Ouch- sounds like a lot of hurtin’. Oddly enough, after letting the top settle, I haven’t had any leaks… now the soft top is a WHOLE nother story! Some of the radio problems might be linked to the connectors to the door (I’ve replaced mine with a non-locking connector- the factory ones are junk, and a bit tricky for a simpleton like me)… I don’t know about the radio station changing, but that might explain why it’s not turning off. I’d check some of the TSBs- I think I’ve seen some of your problems- I’ve usually had to show them HOW to do the work to get anything out of the Stealership without a TSB… Let me know what you find!
2007 jk 4door with hard top. I have had two clutches since new. first one went at 7000 miles. next one at 40000 and they would not replace it. Also after new clutch install the slave cylinder started leaking and had to replace. No replacement parts for the flywheel or slave cylinder except for chrysler, they they both took more than a week to get.
I have a cj5-cj7-cj8-tj and love them all. This new jk has not even been out on any trails. Only my wife driving it back and forth to work about 10 miles, with few stops and starts. Any one else had these problems. Not to happy with these problems. What will happen when I get unit when it paid off and plan to do some real wheeling.
and on a nother note when I called about the problem I got some one from India which just keep saying every thing is ok now right. The clutch is only warrented for 12 mounths and no every thing was not alright. I wish I had a real american, tech resourse and vehicele. My wife has driven many clutch cars and trucks, last one was a Isuze 4door trooper and never had any clutch problem when we got rid of it with 167,000 miles on it.
I have a 2007 JK 2dr with freedom top. Love the Jeep, but I need a rack system for the kayak. Tried a Lange rack system but it was not too stable. My kayak dealer recommended a Yakima foot system that requires drilling into the top and then a footer that grips to the front rain-gutters on the doors. All that said, is anyone having success with a rack system for kayaks and canoes? I would like to keep away from anything that attaches to the spare or hitch receiver.
I had my 2009 JK Unlimited Rubicon built while I was overseas and picked it up last Oct. I’m just now starting the upgrade phase! I’m getting my list of parts together at the moment, but I’ll be installing a 4in Rough Country suspension lift as my starting point. It’s been a long wait and I can’t wait to get started. How do you like your WARN wench? I’m researching bull bars/new bumpers, how’s that Shockworks treating you?
I know this is a off topic, But I am trying to become a member to the actual forum. And Have gone through all the step but it says I am still in moderation queue and has fro the last couple weeks I have tried to figure it out but the site prevents me from visiting most of the forum tools. Thanks you very much for the help
I got my 2 dr x in july of 07 and i love it ive got a 4in roughcounrty lift with a set of incubus off-road wheels i just got my body armor front n rear bumpers but im not done i want more any ideas on what else i can do?
Loved the Area decals: Canada and Texas
So, I was looking for the Northwest and thought it would look cool with a Spruce outline with the JK- but all I found was the Northwest script. Make something like this. Who makes them?
Thanks and I love the forum.

I have been looking at a jeep wrangler and wanted to know what transmission is better for rock crawling or over all use. And is there much difference form the Rubicon to the x models.
I have a 2009 Sahara Unlimited. At below 5 miles an hour the front suspension has a wobble/rattle/knocking sound when minor bump in road is run over. Does anybody know what it is. The dealer says that there is not a problem.
2009 Jeep Green Rubicon. Have had my love for a year now and love it!! Got a Bestop Trektop for a soft top and it leaked, called them they are shipping the upgrade out for free! Great company and the top is HOT!! No problems, I have manual transmission and everything works great there. I got some Motometal punisher rims for it and it really sets it off! Only complaint is a little sluggishness between 3rd and 4th gear. I guess Jeep read the complaint list and got it straight, because I really have had no problems. Also went and use the tip with the grab handles and the gromets. Looks awesome and was easy to do. I had the grab handles with the jeep logo on them, so I just cut where the loops were sewn in and unfolded the flaps, added the gromets and works great.
I gotta say that since i purchased my 09 sahara 4 door its been nothing but good times and random trail hunts. Dtiving is nothing like it used be. I look forward to gettin in my jeep and just doin it. I am totally impressed with the vehicles handling and power. I have no work done to it and it performs like a beast…wow!…i am so happy with it. Cant wait to lift it a bit and throw some tires on. Its def something thats gonna blow my mind once i hit up the trails with the upgrade cuz its dope in its stock form. Neway….love it…keep ridin. Dave…Staten Island NY
I bought a 2010 silver JK sport hardtop 6speed and I will never buy another vehicle other than a jeep! Only had it about 5 months now and mods include: 4″ Pro Comp stage 1 lift kit on 17″ ultra gear rims and 35″ cooper discovery considering it still is a daily driver but ready to pull on a trail when needed. future mods will include bumpers and racks cause i do tons of traveling. Looking for information on how to run 5.31 gears do to the recent lift and tires and if a tuner is a good investment. I just need more information.

Bought a used ‘08 JK early June after selling my ‘04 TJ. I wanted to do something a little different and have always liked the looks of the JK. I was lucky in that I was able to find one with only 20K miles and a 6 speed (a must-have on my list). Other than that, she was pretty plain and ready for some goodies. The day after I bought her, I ordered parts…4″ super lift, 17″ XD wheels, 35″ Mickey Thompson Baja radals, N-Fab nerf bar - Smittybilt XDC front and rear bumpers, MBRP exhaust, Airaid intake and some JK Decals proudly displayed. I absolutely love this vehicle and by the looks she gets going down the street…I think the general public does too.
i have a 2008 rubicon and think it is a total piece of crap! it has no power!! which would be ok if it got good milage, my 6.0 chevy 3/4 ton truck gets better milage. I also feel the jeep should not even offer an automatic, which is what i have big mistake. I have chiped it & put new exhaust and cold air intake it is still a dog & gets crapy milage.
I was just wounding, about how many of the jeeps in your Project JK videos are automatics.
Hey Richard! I have been in a few of the Project JK videos and can tell you that there are a good number of automatics running these trails…mine included. I absolutely LOVE my jeep and have been amazed at how well it continues to perform. Regarding how many are autos…well, I would say it was a toss up.
Hey this is a quick way to say something ,my 2007 rubicon was burning tons of oil 5 quarts a week ,After several visits to the dealer they gave me a new engine but no reason for what was going on ?Ive seen many others with this problem? What is going on ?
sorry 5 quarts a month…
so Im running a 4in. lift and 35’s on my JK and just recently chipped it out with a superchips tuner which i absolutely love. Whats the optimum gear ratio I should run giving the best gas mileage and horsepower, currently running 4.75

Where can I get Project-JK stickers?
I have a 1998 tj with a 6″ long arm life and has 35″ tires. i do alot of tail riding right now. I would like to move to the next step ” crewing”
My question? ….. should i put the money in this jeep or get somtthing other and start over?
we had a 2000 tj on a 6″ long arm kit, on 37’s and locked front and rear. it was a great jeep but, nothing compared to our JK rubicon riding on a 3″ lift and 35″ tires. in fact, we loved the JK so much more that we eventually sold our TJ and bought a second JK. that should tell you everything right there.
wayoflife, thank you.
I think i will keep the tj for trail riding around home, but will look into the jk.
on the jk all you had to add was the lift add new tires?
has any one purchased:
Bestop Highrock 4×4 rear bumper with tire carrier, where tire carrier attached to tailgate, and the Bestop HighRock 4×4 Slider Step Black ?
What do you think of them? I want to know the quality of them. thanks Jo in Loveland, CO.
JK question. I have a 2011 jk sport and wanted to know what size rims wheels i can upgrade to without any installation issues.
I have been following your web site and I love the stuff you guys have been doing. Great videos and really nice rigs. Keep it up. I would love to take my 2009 JK Unlimited out with you guys one day. Being from East Coast Canada, it may be a bit tough but you never know.
Hi,
i jest purchased 2009 automatic rubicon, its haveing only 6500 mils and i want to make it ready for offroad.
i am going to lift it 4″ or 6″ and iwanted to ask few questions.
1. is it possiball to install 37″ tires on the originall axles?
2. if it possiball, what is the gear ratio that racomand in this case 4.88/5.13?
3. do i have to change the axle parts and the drive shafts to a stronger ones?
Thank you very much
Yaniv
