Back in May, our good friends Greg and Dave from Powerline Patrol, invited Mel of Off Road Evolution, Cindy and I out to the Arizona desert to run a few of the trails they have out in the Florence Junction area.

Ever since we had the all new EVO MFG Bolt-On Coil Over kit installed on Rubicat (our new 2012 Dozer Yellow Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon), we’ve had a ton of people ask us about how well it performs.

Back in 1860, gold was discovered in the heart of the Owens Valley and by 1864, a hole burrowed into the side of the Inyo Mountains known as the Eclipse Mine was said to be the richest in the State of California. Later renamed the Reward by the Reward Consolidated Mining Co., this mine was worked consistently from 1880 to 1914 and then started up again in 1935 for an extensive period of time. What remains today is an amazingly large network of eight connected tunnels spanning over 500 vertical feet from top to bottom.

In the short video clip below, you will see two Jeep JK Wranglers that are similarly built, both running 37� Falken Wildpeak’s and taking on the exact same line on the exact same obstacle, only one is running a Dynatrac Pro Rock 60 front axle and the other is running a competing axle. See what happens for yourself.

Over the weekend, Mel Wade of Off Road Evolution drove his 4-door Jeep JK Wrangler out to this trail from his home in Southern California, took it on and then drove it all the way back home. Episode 3 of KEEP IT TIGHT highlights our 3rd and 4th day of The JK Experience Rocky Mountain Run.

Day 2 of the JK-Experience Rocky Mountain Run would take us south toward the town of Buena Vista, Colorado, and to the trail that a majority in our group would run for the day, Chinaman Gulch.

Episode 1 of this 4 part series highlights our gathering in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, the starting point of our JK-Experience, and then heads high up into the White River National Forest where we got to run one the most famous and hardcore trails in the state, Holy Cross!

With nothing but sky in front of you, climbing your way up the extremely steep ledges out of Carnage Canyon BV requires skill, throttle control, a good spotter, strong winch and, if you have manual transmission, the use of all your hands and feet.
