Whistle-Like Sound Due To Gap Between Leading Edge Of Header Seal And Windshield Frame

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves measuring the gap between the leading edge of the windshield header seal to the windshield frame and, if necessary, replacement of the windshield header seal.

MODELS:
2007 – **2008** (JK) Wrangler

NOTE: ** This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or between May 14, 2007 (MDH 0514XX) and August 24, 2007 (MDH 0824XX). **

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a whistle-like sound along the top of the windshield. This sound may be caused by the position of the windshield header seal to the windshield frame. This condition may occur if a gap, that is greater than 1 mm (0.040 inch), is present between the leading edge of the windshield header seal and the top of the windshield frame.

  1. ITS FUNNY I’VE TAKEN MY WRANGLER IN 3 TIMES AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT COURTSEY JEEP SAID NOTHING FOUND EVERYTIME. I TOOK IT BACK WITH TWO ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE WHISTLING SOUND BY REPLACING THE HEADER SEAL. STILL NOT WORKING.

  2. I just had this done a few days ago. Worked a bit so I guess Im happier. Replaced the seal and said it was flat down.

  3. Installed wheel well moulding along top edge of windshield frame to redirect air flow from top of roof. So far it seems to have worked to rid us of the air flow noise. Try it. You have nothing to lose.
