While the Jeep JK Wrangler is without a doubt, the best off road vehicle ever made, the headlights it comes with from the factory are anything but. In fact, I’d have to say that they are the one thing that everyone I know who owns a JK, hates about it. The light they provide are a sickly yellow at best, are really only focused at one point and do very little to fill in the road immediately in front of you. In fact, it is for that reason this that most people who own a JK tend to always use their fog lights in conjunction to their headlights and, are always in search of a good replacement.
Originally developed for the U.S. Military, the Truck-Lite LED’s are a completely solid-state unit, rugged and put out an impressive spread of clean white light while using very little power. The low beams do a great job of filling in the road immediately in front of you and wide out to the sides as well. Of course, the high beams do an even better job by projecting light far out into the distance while still retaining all the lighting up front as well. These may not be the cheapest set of headlights you can buy but, in my opinion, you really do get what you pay for. When it comes to a great all around set of replacement headlights, I’d have to say that the Truck-Lite LED’s are about the best I have found.
Installation of the Truck-Light LED headlights is super easy as the write-up below will show and typically takes about 15 minutes to do. Please note that 2 different JK’s were used in this write-up as I already had aftermarket headlights and wanted to keep this from a stock perspective as possible.

Have heard mixed results about these lights, and the price is a bit prohibitive at this time. Are there plans too have a totally new design and also a price that is more affordable??? Anyone know how these compare to HID’s in brightness?
I would much pay the extra cash and get these LED headlights than HIDs any day for the longevity alone.
I’m replacing all the bulbs I can with LEDs and and these LED headlights will be the finishing touches to my 2011 COD.
To have headlights rated at 10,000 hours is amazing! Just put them and never have to change a bulb ever!
I think good lights, but not for off-road: it’s not glass – policarbonat linses not so good for us 🙂
I don’t care how good they are, there is no way I could justify $272 per light! By the time you buy the wiring harnesses you are at $600 for headlights? No thanks.
I am switching over to all LEDs for my interior and exterior lights and feel that these headlights, though pricey, will fir the bill.
I am looking at the total cost of ownership and these headlights should last the 10 to 12 years I expect to have this 2011 COD RubIcon. Anything beats the stock headlights.
As for the exterior LEDs I have bought so far, I am pleased with them. They are far brighter, which adds safety and I should have a life cycle much more than that of filament bulbs.
I feel that Jeeps should come with LEDs anyway for the sake of safety, ruggedness, and they really look good.

I bought these and put them in on 30 July, 2011 and followed the advice on how to install and aim the lights on the link posted on this page. I was surprised how flimsy the stock head lights really are.
These Truck-Lite LED headlights are military grade and are built tough to last a service life rated about 10,000 hours.
After installing these lights, adjusting the aim is a must.
Trying them out from transitioning from dust to night was interesting.
These headlights produce a light akin to a tactical spotlight rather than anything I have ever seen or used before. The color of the light is distinctive to be sure and these lights really look good,
In total darkness, these lights work well and give great side coverage and they have good illumination on dim. On bright, it’s like a spotlight.
I must say that I am impressed with these lights and would recommend them to anyone.

is the harness included?
I’m assuming that the extra wire harness is a must for the LED headlights? Do the harnesses come with the lights or are they a separate item which must be ordered?
the harness is a must for most aftermarket lights, IPF’s included. if you try to save money and buy these lights from ebay, they most likely will not come with them. if you get them from a jeep vendor, they will.

Well, it’s been some months now and I still love these lights! I can’t tell you how much we love them, but I will say that I have changed out every bulb out I can to LED, inside and out.
The only ones left untouched are the dashboard lights and I’m working up enough nerve to do so.
Also I have changed out the wimpy fog lights with LED bulbs I found on Amazon. Hey, anything was better than stock and they are rated at 60,000 hours.
So I figure I’m set for lighting inside and out for the life of the COD Rubicon.
For those of you who cringe at the thought of spending this much on military grade LED headlights, look at it as an investment.
I did and I’m glad of it.

Any idea if this headlights will work with a jk liberty?
Well I have them on my 2012 JKU and they light up 150% better then OE but the 2 things i hate about them,, 1st is the price here in Canada I got them for 695$ tx incl and the harnest,but the thing you got to know that irritated me the most is they are not plug and play..
you have to put in a relay(40w) if you dont want them to flicker specialy if you have daylight system on your jeep, that was an other 130$ with the tech time, since i have no electricity knowledge I think they are expensive but I didnt care, I wanted them I got them, also i got the LED tail lights from ICPW and the from fog LED solo’s from vison X and recons parking/flasher/front fender LED’s,, I get lots of compliments for looks and show even in rain all the lights are very visible,only problem will be in snow since no heat from the lights the snow wont melt but its a small detail…just remember nothing is plug and play yo uneed to be aware that you need a relay for the headlights

Just an FYI…If you are buying the new truck-lite 27270C LED headlamp. IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE HARNESS!! You can get it at NAPA $12. part # LIT 96630. I have a 09 wrangler JK UNLIMITED.

I’m not arguing but the lady at truck lite customer service said they no longer put a free harness in with the light. I just want to point it out so you don’t get home and have to travel back to the store.
