Jeep JK Resources

When we placed our order for a brand new Stone White 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited back on July 10, 2006, it was done with the complete knowledge and understanding that it may take some time to get. Having already gone through a similar experience back when we purchased our TJ some seven year before, we were quite prepared to do some waiting… but, what we didn’t realize at the time was just how much waiting we would really have to do.

With everything from a sway bar disconnect motor that didn’t like water to a newly designed BFGoodrich M/T KM tire that had a difficult time balancing and then a shortage of Freedom Tops for the Unlimited, it would seem that ordering an Unlimited in a Rubicon package was the single best way one could ensure that you wouldn’t get your new JK before the end of the year. In fact, when all was said and done, over six months would have passed before we would be able to take possession of our new JK on January 29, 2007. Was it worth the wait? You betcha!! We absolutely love this new Jeep and in some ways, I think the ridiculously long wait only made getting it that much sweeter. In fact, as some of you may know, we loved our JK so much that we ended up selling our TJ and bought a 2009 Sunburst Orange Jeep JK Unlimited X to replace it.

Below you will find links to useful information regarding the Jeep JK Wrangler.

  1. My gig is the Navigation System that Jeep is offering. It has yet to be built in a JK….all of us waiting for My Gig have had a long wait and still don’t see light at the end of the tunnel. They keep delaying the release of it.
Here is a link to it featured in the Nitro.(I think you will have to cut and paste this link into your browser)

  2. I ordered my Rubi the middle of Nov, still sitting in BG status, I called DC to try and get a more accurate response and after he told me the same information I already had, he put me on hold to get more info from my Dealer. I later called my dealer and he confirmed that the guy called him looking for an update. Can you believe that?! Anyway, still waiting and all the pictures I have seen make it look worth the wait, I hope so.

One last thing, does anyone know when the model year will change? That would suck to wait 6 months for a brand new Jeep that would be 1 year old when we drive them off the lot and then the 08’s come out 2 months later.

  3. The 2008’s can be ordered starting in August with first arrivals in September according to Jeff Sladick at Don-a-Vee. I asked him the same question a few weeks ago.

  4. Well, I have quite an update…

My salesman called me today, whom I trust, and told me that his dealership had received a letter from DC stating that the MyGig system was indeed still being held up. This letter added that customers with pending MyGig orders would be delayed for an undetermined amount of time and that those customers may want to consider removing the MyGig’s from their order to expedite completion of their build. He also said, to give me some inside info, that the dealership could not modify the order directly, but they had to email the request to a central location somewhere who in turn modified the order. Because I had long ago though the MyGig would be massively delayed, I negotiated the installation of thesystem AFTER I got my Jeep for zero labor cost and at the sticker price it would have been if I had ordered it initially, I simply reverted back to that deal. My order was submitted for a change today. When the MyGig comes out, the dealership will install it for me as though it was part of my original order. The only thing I haven’t negotiated and might be talking to him about tomorrow is deducting the cost of the stereo system it’s shipping with from the cost of the MyGig system.

He seemed to think that this change in order may mean that I would finally move, after 6 weeks, from D to D-1 or better, as his other customers had.

He also offered me a Jeep Green 6 Speed w/o MyGig that is coming in soon and the original customer may be backing out on. (There’s a tip for you guys). I ordered Steel Blue and Auto. The Green stick is shipping with all available options except side air bags (which I had requested, but only protect you if the hard doors are on) and the engine block heater which is only for extremely cold conditions. While I am very tempted to take the Green one, which I have dibs on if the other guy backs out, I had very much wanted an Automatic for off-roading. All of my CJ-7’s were sticks and there is no feeling of terror like the one you get on a 40 degree incline when your engine stalls out and in a stick. Automatics just creep better.

So that’s everything I know for now. Maybe I’ll take the stick anyway. I like the Green too.

BUT, my Steel Blue Automatic may move up in status as soon as next week once the MyGig is removed from the order.

You can bet I’ll be bringing up the 08 year change as well.

Hope this info helps everyone. Let’s get on the road!!!!!!

    Whatever it takes.

    Best,
    Scott

  5. i had to wait a week and a half for my 2007 jeep jk rubicon and i have to say this jeep is the sickes thing i have ever driven and i drive a 45 ton loader for work. i had to get the rubicon becasue the saraha is only a few grand less and dosnt have any of the offroading shit. i love the locking difs with those engaged its fucking unstopable and not haveing to get out to disconnect the the sway bar is pimpin. my buddys got a early 90’s yj with a 4 inch suspention, lift 3 inch body lift and hes runnin on 33″ bf goodrich mud turrain tires and i still have to go in first. so all and all i fucking love my jk and urge anyone getting a jeep that you want to take off road and still have people taking a second look get the rubicon i garentee you will love it the second you sit in it

  6. Nice jesse, its cool that you like your new rubicon and all but I don’t think you ordered it and got it 1 1/2 week later. It was probably already on it’s way to the dealer and they fulfilled your request with it. Anyway, enjoy and remember that if your on the trail some of us bring our small children with us and please be considerate of others when expressing your verbal enthusiasm. Thanks.

  7. I ordered my 4-door black Rubicon January 20th. It has My Gig and dual tops. I am stuck in BG status just like the rest of you. Yesterday DC actually told me I was in between BG and BX whatever that means. I any case, today I am still in BG. Good luck to everybody. The sooner I see you people that have been waiting longer than me, the sooner I might get mine moving along.

  8. you guys should consider yourselves very lucky.I live in Ontario, Canada and ordered my 4-door wrangler three months ago and my dealer still hasn’t even been told by Chrsler even when they will be making/shipping to Canada. But i am still anxiously waiting. It will be my first jeep.
    thanks

  9. Initially ordered 4-door rubicon – dual tops – no mygig (I prefer my Garmin with XM that we take in the motorhome and then just hook into our tow vehicle) Sept 8 – changed order to auto trans due to knee problems Oct 25 – changed to D status early Jan – still in D today – 2 months later. DC suggested that they believe the build date (D-1) might be around March 10th. Dealer said that if this does happen – I might see the vehicle by early May.

I too wonder about the 2008s as I might actually see mine the a couple of months before they are released! Mentioned that to both DC during a call and the dealer. Dealer suggested that at the price I am getting it at – and the price they are expecting for the 08s – I will still be a very happy camper – as long as it doesn’t rain!

Thanks for the forum as this is about the only reasonable source of information for us out there!

  10. Spoke with my dealer again, all he can say is that production has been pushed back until March. He is not even sure what that means, (delivered or start building then). Anyway, he did say that even if my Jeep comes in the month of March, he will give me the option to wait and order an ’08 (great guy). As we were standing by an automatic Rubi he had on the lot we noticed the problem that some people have pointed out about the rain gutter that directs the water to the opening of the door if it is open. I also noticed how the front panels of the hard top do not align perfectly (this may be the leak issue as previously stated). The Bestop 2 piece is looking to be a real possibility even at the cost they want for it. There is also a few TSB’s on this home page for things I hadn’t heard about. With all the “little” problems with this thing I may elect to wait and see if they fix them all with the next year. Good luck everyone.

  11. Finally got my 4 door silver rubi in yesterday!!! woo woo! For those of you still waiting, All I can say is hang in there. It’s totally worth the wait!

  12. HOLY COW!

I got a build date! Finally. My Thanksgiving order of my Steel Blue Rubi Unlimited is set to be built on March 9th. The secret to my success? Removing the MyGig from my order. Hopefully I’ll have the actual vehicle in a couple of weeks. Which means that the other Green 6 Speed one that I mentioned in an earlier post may be up for grabs if anyone wants to buy it!

I’m putting a MyGig in later.

    Scott

  13. YEAH SCOTT!! As I mentioned in my earlier post that is what I did when I ordered last October, just didn’t do the my gig because my dealer said it was a problem child.
Took our 1500 mile trip and really enjoyed ourselves. We had mountain snows, metropolitan freeway, sand dunes, winds, rains (unfortunately not time for trails). Only nervous time was with winds. They didn’t seem that terrible but with the high profile it made the jeep push everyway. With the wind at the back we avg 23 mpg. On the way back with a head wind we only avg 18.6 mpg. Real strange sensation to have a manual on cruise and hit head winds that kept jerking the car back. The cargo room was the amazing part. Because of the roof so high we were able to fit a ton in the back without loosing the back seat. 4 golf bags, 1 large suitcase, 2 smaller, laptop, sleeping bag, couple back packs!! I have had a large SUV since 1998 and it never held this amount in just the cargo space. We always had to lower one of the split seats in the back and that was without the golf clubs! We went through a huge rain storm with thunder and lightening and never had a roof problem or door water. I still haven’t taken the roof off since I got the jeep in December so the test of its ability is not complete. The seats were comfortable, the sirus was great, the extra electric output ran my computer GPS and maps easily off my laptop. I rented a Nissan Xterra while waiting for my jeep for a 800 mile trip and was in pain after 100 miles. We had no problem doing 400 miles at a time and still able to stand, walk and golf.
    Good luck and enjoy

I ordered mine Nov 15th in Wallaceburg, Ontario and am in the same boat as you, no indication at all when it may be built. Another guy at work bought an Unlimited X off the lot and now I just spend my breaks staring at it!

  15. Hello All. Just stumbled across this board and was impressed with how nice everyone seems to be. Many message boards have a bunch of mean people these days, so this is a refreshing change. My question is really kinda odd. I currently own an 04 Wrangler Sahara edition. This is my 3rd one. My lease is up in several months and I am really confused about what I want. Here is the deal: A lot has changed in my life. I am currently in my 30’s, mid level management and travel by car each day for my job. I live in the 3 county area of South Florida – Fort Lauderdale, Miami and West Palm Beach. There are some days when I drive 150 miles in just one day. Lots of driving on the Florida Turnpike. As much as I love my 04, its getting to be torture. On long drive days, I come home with a splitting headache from the wind noise on the soft top ( you have to drive 90mph in SFL to stay alive ). Forget space, taking clients out to lunch, and keeping my laptop in it, or talking on the cellphone – none of those things will happen. But…then the weekend will roll around and I fall in love with it all over again. Its a real love hate relationship.

So here is my odd question: for all of you who have the new 4 door unlimited, do you think this might cure my problem? I am looking at a 4 door with hardtop and wondering if this might be the cure. Is there anyone who drives a lot like me? Is it comfortable for 150 miles per day? Sadly, the dealers here arent allowing test drives unless you are ready to start negotiations. i am thinking the 4 door with hardtop would still allow me to own a jeep, hopefully be more quiet, comfortable, room for 4, secure etc… I will take any and all opinions. I want to be well armed when I do head in to the dealership to turn in my 04. Thanks everyone.

  16. Hi Allen,

I think that you would do just fine with the 4 Door Hard-top. I am assuming gas mileage isn’t an issue for you; although mine gets approx 23mpg on the highway. I have to say, I am most impressed (other than just how darn cool this thing is overall) with how quiet and smooth it is during highway driving. FYI I have the 4 door Sahara with the hard top (dual-top). I would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

    Good Luck,
    Tony

  17. Allen,
That is very unfortunate that your dealerships won’t let you test drive the vehical. It’s a jeep, not a $100k + automobile. Anyway, I found myself in a similar situation, in that I always wanted a Jeep but I had kids and the size just wasn’t practical. Now that the 4 door is out, I went and test drove it (the 2 door also) and it is like night and day as far as the drive is concerned, as far as stability, it is almost like driving a car (doesn’t feel unstable at all), and I think that it is pretty quiet driving down the road. I don’t own mine yet (still on order) but I give it a thumbs up over all previous models for on road driveability. Good luck.

  18. Hey guys,

Welcome new people to this board. Wish I could answer the 4 door jeep question, Allen, and having test driven one, all I can say is this. It’s a Jeep Wrangler. It is the grandchild of the CJ. It has always been designed to get you there, regardless of where there is, and also to be a bad, bad, vehicle. Bad meaning good that is. However, this one is without a doubt, more comfortable than any predecessor in this line. It’s no Cadillac Fleetwood, but it will take you places a Fleetwood will never go, AND it will do it top down with 3 friends (in the unlimited). I mean c’mon! What’s the question!?

Those of you following my saga, I called DC today and my build date has been pushed to 3.20.07. They tell me all is good for that date. Last I heard it was the 8th, but I’ll take the 20th. The representative I spoke to at DC was very nice today, and additionally, she made some very pointed, if not thinly veiled remarks about the holdups. She said things like, “well it might take longer, but they’re just ironing out the bugs.” and “they don’t want to roll into production a vehicle that isn’t ready and have people like me going to the shop all the time for little things.” As well as, “this vehicle might not be ready for production yet.” In spite of all of these nefarious quotes, it was an overall a positive conversation that implied Jeep is doing their level best to make sure everything is right. We ALL know of the top problems, the ECU Flash problems, the rain gutters.

WHATEVER! As long as I can hose it out when necessary I don’t care. These vehicles are about utility, and fun and yes for you, Allen, comfort. (and maybe me too.)

Someday my Jeep will come. Until then. I have my health.

    Best,
    Scott

  19. I just got a 2007 Jeep Unlimited Sahara 4 door, 4×4, The day I got it the fog light went out and the roof leaked in the same place as everyone else’s. It’s leaking water and you can feel the air coming right in when you get above 50pmh. Got a new light, but the dealer told me it needs to be “leaked proofed” which takes a few days. I’m in the Marines and driving cross country in a few days, What’s the best way to go about getting this fixed?

  20. Finally changed to D-1!

Was told today that my vehicle (4 door white auto rubi dual top loaded except mygig) started its build (D-1) cycle this past Friday (3/2). Original dates back in September with modification to auto on October 25 last year.

However, I was also told that (to add credence to the rumor mill above) the hardtops that had been delayed until April but were now on an “indefinite” restriction. Even the dealership was told of the April date for the hardtops, now they had been told that these orders were on an indefinite restriction (i.e. hold).

I was also told not hold my breath regardless of the D-1 status.

IF there were a few tops laying around that they have found a way to make them work, he said my vehicle might be here within a month or so otherwise – who knows! Boy – doesn’t this sound wonderful!

Actually – YES! I live in Arizona and we need a tow vehicle that will spend time on beaches – in the mountains of Colorado – being towed – and towing – and hauling – grocery runs – carting kids – dogs – and the occassional trip to some pretty neat gorges with real rock climbing – and birm jumping – and skiing trips! With 4 kids (2 in college – 2 in elementary – same family!) and three sled dogs (although I’m certain it isn’t designed for all of this at the same time), I can’t wait to put it through its paces!

I’ll keep you all posted. Good luck to all and best wishes!

  21. Matt; re-set your hard top in the specific order that the manual gives. This may help stop water leak. You should already have at least the new seal that was out since you just got the jeep. Apparently if roof is not placed in exact correct order and seated without OVER SCREWING. It leaks. Thats the best you can do until back to dealer. With all the leak news for months I personally would be furious with any dealer who let one of these drive away without having already done the work order repairs that Jeep put in place. link to TSB for hard top is :
    http://project-jk.com/index.php/?p=90

Allen, I too owned an older jeep with soft top. I understand the wind noise. This is comfortable seats, no noise, electric windows and still for play. I mentioned my trip above but forgot that in the back seat was my 16 year old son as well. We all were comfortable. I wanted to fly home for easter but after our 1500 mile trip my husband says NO we will drive the 1500 miles again. PS where are you? Maybe someone in this posting knows a dealer who is not such a jerk in your area. Personally I would tell the guy I am ready to deal, test drive, sit down at the desk to get the price, If the price was $1.00 above what the jeep site (build your jeep quote) is, say no and then order at another dealer or on line. I paid to the penny exactly the price of what I built my jeep for at jeep.com (not includig sales tax and dmv ofcourse)

  22. Anyone have approximate times to expect at the various status codes?? That is at least after you finally hit D-1? Days versus weeks kind of things for E – F – G all the way to K and actual delivery?

After 2 months at D, I have now recieved conflicting dates associated with D-1 and wonder if the indefinite restriction is actually in place. Initially told 3/10, then Monday told 3/2 now today told 3/6 but the computers were “acting up” so they really weren’t sure.

Any info / experience would be much appreciated – Thanks.

  23. Mystery of mysteries.

Well, I’m not sure what’s going on. I thought maybe the hard top thing would be a hold up again for my delivery but…

My sales guy tells me my Jeep is scheduled to ship out tomorrow and that it has been built. Which was actually a day earlier than he had originally anticipated.

The only thing is I called DC yesterday and they told me I wasn’t even going to be built until the 20th and that was a tentative date.

I gotta be honest. I’m baffled. The dealer is getting info contradictory to the DC number. And YES I trust my dealer. He’s a good guy.

I’ll let you guys know what happens. I’m betting on the later date for the build, but that’s only because I’m getting used to disappointment!

So I just called again, before submitting this posting. DC is still telling me a build date of the 20th.

    Scott

  24. I ordered my Rubicon (Dual Tops, Mygig) on Dec. 20. I have been in the BG holding pattern since. My dealer (very trustworthy)has been unable to provide any information other than checking the status daily. Does anyone have any additional information on when they will be producing wranglers with these options???

  25. Scott; don’t get too into the DC codes. My dealer had faxed me from the DC computer that I was sitting at D-1 (and I may not build until a month later) and then 15 minutes later he called me all excited because the vehicle had shipped and was due in california in about 2 days. It seems that the DC had not updated even though the car had to have been on a rail car for 3-5 days by this point. It is hard to tell who is right or wrong because the DC you get is just the stupid computer and only as good as the data entry person having updated. I hope your dealer has the better information. Don’t be surprised if one day you think its not going anywhere and the next someone says its arrived.

  26. Yeah!! Today went to D-1 for my Rubicon Unlimited. Delivery date from plant of 3-15. Ordered it in early Sept!! Any suggestions on where to post for sale the 32″ BFG Mud terrain tires and Rubicon rims that come on the vehicle. I will be lifting it and replacing those immediately upon getting vehicle. Thanks!!!

  27. Wow,

Just got an e-mail from my dealer in Chicago. He has my 2 dr red Rubicon, duel tops, on his lot. I ordered it Nov 7, 06. Not bad 4 months. I guess I’ll mosey down there tomorrow and pick it up.

Just a side note, in JP Magazine this month there’s a picture of Jeeps in the desert. The Iraqi army has 2000 new JKs to play with, no wonder it took so long to get ours.

Keep the faith, to all still waiting.

  28. I order my Rubicon Unlimited in October 2006. My Jeep will be delivered on March 16 at the dealership in Austin, Texas. It’s red rock crystal pearl with the black 3-piece modular hardtop (fully loaded except side air bags). I was told at the dealership that it will be the first Rubicon Unlimited delivered in this region with MyGig.

  29. Thanks everyone for the feedback. It sounds like the new unlimited is way more comfortable than my 04. If they ever let me test drive one, I will find out for sure – haha I must confess that my heart skips a beat every time I pass a new one on the highway!

Kathy – I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sadly, of all the places I have lived, South Florida car dealers are the lowest life forms. You would think they would treat me a little better being a 4 time returning Jeep customer – but no ( and I am not hard to get along with 🙂 The dealership where I bought my 04 has the elite “5 Star” label, yet I have had to report them to Jeep Corp HQ because they have tried numerous times to charge me for things that were clearly covered by warranty. Each time Jeep HQ has been fantastic and taken care of the situation for me, but I shouldnt even have to do that with a 5 Star dealer. When I went to look at the unlimited, the sales rep told me that they were getting full asking price for every unit, and to come back when I was ready to sign on the dotted line, or place my order for a custom build. No test drive. No worries though, I have a few more months on my 04 lease, so that buys me some time. I must confess though, I am somewhat concerned about all of the postings on the problems with the hardtops. I am going to HAVE to have a hardtop this time around. I will curious to continue reading what develops with this.

  30. PS – Kathy – I have another question for you. I have been to Jeep.com about a hundred times to configure my unlimited, but when I try to configure an “X” model, it gives me barely any options to add whatsoever. Am I missing something here? It will let me option out a Sahara, but not an X. Perhaps I am not doing something right?

I lied…one more question….does anyone know if U Connect will ever be available. That would be a nice option for a hard top. I can understand why they wouldnt want to offer it on soft top, but would rock to have it for hard top.

  31. The saga continues…

If anyone from DC reads these to possibly get some idea how their consumers are handling this – one word – frustrated.

By now you should be able to read into this that there are many of us that have been getting the run-around and the information gaps are worse than the wait. The frustration levels probably wouldn’t be so bad if we could just get accurate information.

Six months ago we made plans for a mountain vacation and some 4-wheeling fun. The vehicle was ordered and deposits were given for the trips and with the “6 – 8 week” availability information on the order, we were told we should have it by Christmas – darn nice present if you ask me!

There were no worries as to whether the Jeep would be here in time for our March / April trip as we were continuously reassured that the issues were being fixed and vehicles were still rolling off the line. Then came the call that the Christmas present would have to wait just after New Year’s (I knew I should have asked for what year!).

Truth was that by New Years we were just hitting D status. Now after sitting at D-1 for just over a week (was told by both DC and the dealership that 3/2 was the scheduled build date), according to the latest – I am still at D-1 and the actual build date is now an unknown.

I am now faced with the fact that we leave in a few days and I must now go out and rent a trailer and another vehicle to tow as our Jeep will not be here in time.

Not that we would have cancelled the order – but knowing this lack of information would exist – and had some realistic expectations been given – we might have changed our trips accordingly rather than hold out hope.

I am truly excited about getting this vehicle someday but for now the frustration has placed a bit of a sour note on the entire process (which I’m certain will disappear once I see it).

I wish that the status was something that the customer could go online and view without having to constantly contact the dealership or DC (and get conflicting information on each call).

If the issues are associated with data entry as some rumors have suggested – place some of the folks answering the calls into data entry as I am certain that many folks would much rather get a login when you order / purchase the vehicle – simply go online whenever – and be able to ACCURATELY see the status – and I’d suggest adding comments and reasons for delays. IF the information could be available – I’m certain more folks would be a lot happier. Look at how much additional customer satisfaction the overnight carriers received once folks could go online and track their package!

We realize there are issues with new vehicles – pioneers sometimes got arrows in their backs too – but just tell us the truth. And yes, most if not all of us can handle it!

I know that changing my order to an automatic back in October (due to knee problems) put in a delay but when asked – no one suggested that it would. Yet after surgery (January), and I wanted to change back to the stick, I was told that although the manual transmissions were being built – any change in my order would cause a many month delay.

Venting time is over…please just get them rolling…and seriously consider a better tracking system!

  32. …by the way…

Thank you so much for this site and the gallery of photos of your delivery (mine should be almost identical) and your trips.

It definitely helps to keep things in perspective and assures us that these aren’t just a figment of our imagination!

  33. Finally.

I don’t have it yet, but it looks like I will soon. When I posted that there was a disparity between the DC number and my dealer, it turned out the dealer info was more accurate. As of today my Wrangler Rubi Unlimited w/dual tops was in G status. Which is trim.

It may come to my dealer as early or next week or the week after. I took the mygig off, but am adding it later. According to my last call with DC it wasn’t even going to be built for another 10 days, but now it IS built and ON IT’S WAY!!!!!

    Scott

  34. Ordered a 4 dr Unlimited Rubicon on Jan. 18. Was told it would go into production in March. As of today, March 11, the dealer has no idea when it will go into production. I ordered MyGig and dual tops, so I must have the double whammy working against me. Anyone hear when these issues will be worked out? If May like someone above says, I may just wait another three months and put my ’08 order in. This might be a pessimistic outlook on things, but my experiences with the service of big companies of late has been abysmal. You can insert (airline), (retailer), (car company) here, and understand my frustration.

  35. Still waiting. Again, I ordered, Rubicon, mygig, dual tops in December. As with you I’m totaly frustrated that can not get a straight answer as to the delay or when expected build date. I’m still at a BG status?? I live in the south and with spring arriving it would sure be nice to have the Wrangler. I’ll be visiting the auto show in Atlanta this week to see if anyone there can answer questions. Good luck to all, lets hope the wait is worth it!

  36. Needed to wait for convergent validity – i.e. both DC and dealership – this morning I was told estimated ship date is today!

Ok Ok – I’m not holding my breath but I had to make certain I wasn’t dreaming! Might make it in just under 6 months!

Dealer said the computer says F but thinks the system might be behind as it sat at D-1 through last Friday.

IF it hits the railcar by Wednesday it is approximately 1 week out before a couple day truck transfer.

4 Dr White auto Rubi loaded without mygig

  37. Congrats to Bob & Scott!!! Since I am still waiting to add mygig to my jeep I keep up best I can with the issue. I can’t wait to see if Steven really gets a vehicle with mygig. My dealer told me “ANYONE WAITING FOR A JEEP THAT HAS MYGIG, JUST PLAN ON WAITING AND THEN MORE WAITING.” There is still no date and apparently many issues with the mygig. The mygig is actually holding up the cars now, not the tops.
If you ordered with Mygig and want to see your vehicle, you may want to change your order. Seems those who changed their orders and dropped the “mygig” have been getting vehicles into build and out on rail cars in less than a month from change date.
    Good luck all!

  38. Hello all. I order my Jeep Green Unlimited Rubicon last week on the 6th and I am already crawling out of my skin. I can’t wait for it!!! I commend all of you for going waiting that long. I don’t know how you all did it. Hopefully I won’t have to suffer as long as many of you have.

From what I have gathered from reading different sites; and correct me if I am wrong, but one of the factors with the order delays was the fact that the early orders had a lot of problem and Jeep had to go through a learning curve (part problems, unknown supply vs demand). And I’ve also gathered that three options delay your Jeep order; Rubicon, Hard Top, and MyGig. And finally, I think the dealer size and allocation has a play in how fast you get your Jeep processed. If the dealer normally has a large Jeep stock, they might be able to process it faster through the factory.

I didn’t order the freedom top and didn’t order the MyGig either. My dealer has a pretty good allocation as well…at least the largest in my area. They told me 8-12 weeks. Am I just being optimistic; or delusional?

  39. Matt

I can’t speak for everyone because I believe there have been many factors to delay the deliveries – the biggest ones you mentioned – others of which may be pure rumor – and some of which we may never know.

However, as Kathy and many others have suggested – the mygig is probably the biggest delay right now.

Evidently, the vendor for the tops is expanding their plant and tops are available – just not at the volumes DC would like. Rubicons are leaving the plant. Canadians have mentioned that their orders may be extended even beyond the 6 months (or more) that some of use are experiencing.

My rubi order was with a 5 star dealer with a fairly good allocation and I didn’t go for the mygig. The 4 door versions are being released but the backlog has been estimated around 59000 on some forums.

As for the 8 – 12 weeks – anything is possible – mine was shipped yesterday and might be here within 10 days (initial order in September with a change on October) – but don’t hold your breath.

    Good luck!

  40. Hey everyone.

So, I guess DC was wrong with the 3/20 build date and the dealer was right with 3/9. My dealer reported it was in trim last week and now I have new information.

Now that the time is drawing nigh, believe it or not after 4 months, with the Jeep theoretically almost being on it’s way to me…my SALESMAN WENT TO ITALY ON VACATION! God bless him. He deserves a vacation. He has a lot of ansy customers and he’s a nice guy. BUT GEEZ!!!!

So I’m getting all of my purchase paperwork in order and I decided that even though DC isn’t always on the same page, I would call them. Thank God they reported that I was in JS Status!!! That means storage. GREAT! It’s built. But it’s in storage. Great. wonderful (read with sarcasm).

So hopefully it will be on a train or truck or whatever the heck they use to ship them from Ohio to Pennsylvania (where I purchased it) soon.

I’ll keep all posted. I think the dag-gone hard top is going to come right the heck off because it’s turned beautiful in my neck of the woods. (And I originally thought I would have it in time for Christmas).

So that’s my latest. I’ll be interested to see if Chris’ ships with MyGig as well. Mine’s going in later.

BTW, Bob, I love the expression “convergent validity”. Can I use that? 😉

  41. recall brakes?? I just saw there was a recall on brakes of 50,000 vehicles? Has anyone heard anything about this? I scheduled my first mantenance for tomorrow and plan on taking in all TSB and recall documents and asking service manager to go through vehicle. Anything else I should be asking them to do that doesn’t have a TSB yet.

    thx

  42. Hi All,
Here is a list of my problems to date:

-The roof leaks in various places (center seam above radio, overhead where the large screws go, and above the doors

-The brakes just started “clicking” when I use them.

-I also have the scary ESP problem going around corners
(If you haven’t experienced this one yet just wait – it’s fun)

When I enter my VIN on the Jeep site, it shows my vehicle is not in need of any updates.

I plan on taking it in shortly. I will keep you all posted.

  43. I just took ownership of 4 door Sahara with the GY 17″ tires. Any recommendations on upgrading tires (want to stay with AT’s) while keeping stock? thanks

  44. Waiting on Mygig?? Went to the Atlanta International Auto Show last Friday and the Jeep area had several different configurations of the new Wrangler including the Rubicon. They also had a kiosk with the Mygig system so I could get a close up look at what I have been waiting for. I spoke to several DC representatives that were there and they also had no idea when orders will be produced with the Mygig. The DC representative even pointed out that the system on the kisok was not even functioning properly. All they would say is that it was marked for “late availability” and “good things come to those who wait”. Has anyone heard anything different?? Although typically I am very patient I have been waiting for three months in the BG status with no signs of movement. I am thinking of changing my order and not going with the Mygig now and adding at some later date as it sounds like they are trying to work some bugs out of this system anyway. Any thoughts from others waiting or others that have already gotten a Rubicon? Thanks.
