  1. It is important that this be done. Especially if you park on hills frequently and use the E-brake all the time. If it is not adjusted, it WILL fail at the most in-oportune time…

  2. I’ve constantly complained about this parking brake issue to the dealership and they look at me like I’m crazy. Now I come to this forum and find out that it’s a TSB. My dealership must not be checking these things. Now my warranty’s up (38k miles) and I’m just finding out about that its a common problem.

  3. The dealership said they will only fix the TSB when they become a RECALL. I thought that a TSB was for recalls,I guess I was wrong.
This is what they printed for me: Parking brake adjustment is controlled by a cable tensioner mechanism. The cable tensioner, once adjusted at the factory, should not need further adjustment under normal circumstances. Adjustment may be required if a new tensioner, or cables are installed, or disconnected.
Wasnet there a post on the JK-Forum on how to tighten the E-BRAKE. If so what was the link ,Please post it anybudy if you know it . Thanks.

  4. I read somewhere on here about adjusting the E-Brake by backing up slowly while pulling up on brake handle . I didn’t think it could be so easy, but I was wrong. I had to back up five times and pull brake . I now have a parking brake that works like new. I’ve also seen a way to do it manually on jk forum.

  5. They will cover TSB for certain things in the powertrain warranty if you have the lifetime powertrain.

  6. Parking cable snapped on 07JK. Question: would this be covered under this TBS? Otherwise, it’s a $450 tab at the Dealer.

  7. I have a 2008 Wrangler and I tried the backing up with the E-Brake and it did not work for me. Does anyone know anything else that might work?

  8. TSB=technical service bulletin. These are only designed to inform dealer technicians of certain repair procedures for certain vehicles. That way a tech does not have to waste a ton of time trying to figure out a problem that others have already dealt with numerous times. The TSB aides technicians on warranty or customer pay repairs. It DOES NOT denote whether something is warranty or not. A TSB IS NOT A RECALL!!! Just because there is a TSB about something doesn’t mean it is automatically covered by warranty. Yes, this repair can be done by most anyone.

  9. Had brake cabke snap in 09 Wrangler with 35,000. Dealer told me was a wear issue & couldn’t give me a price to fix.

Since th E-brake is part of safety issue, it should be a recall on newer vehicles & low kms, but it’s not
