Rodriguez Canyon (sometimes referred to as the Rodriguez Spur Truck Trail) is an Jeep trail that is located in San Diego County, crosses through Anza Borrego State Park and is near the resort town of Banner, CA. Cutting between Chariot and Granite Mountain, Rodriguez Canyon parallels the more well known Oriflamme Canyon Trail and is a part of a network of trails that were established to service the many mines in the Julian area including the Desert Queen and Pandora Mine. While this trail is for the most part very easy and one that can be done in any 4WD SUV, there is a short spur near the Pandora Mine that is very technical and because of it, we affectionately called this section of trail, “Pandora’s Box.
Roktoberfest is a mega party out in the desert that Project-JK.com puts on once a year during the month of October and out in the Cougar Buttes area of Johnson Valley. Those who come to the party spend their day rock crawling on Jeep trails such as Bullfrog and Cakewalk and then celebrate Oktoberfest well into the night at the Trashed Pumpkin Saloon.
Crossing through the El Dorado National Forest up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Rubicon is truly one of the most beautiful trails I’ve been on bar none. Of course, its unrelenting 22 miles of boulders that need to be crawled, steep ledges that need to be climbed, narrow trees that need to be squeezed between, deep muddy water crossings that need to be forded and tippy off camber terrain that needs to be carefully negotiated is ultimately what makes the Rubicon Trail so legendary and famous around the world.
I can’t count how many times we’ve come off the trail and heard someone on the CB yell out that they’ve got death wobble. After pulling over and giving things a quick look to make sure nothing is broken, I have the driver help me perform this simple test.
Being very small, shock resistant, waterproof and offering a super wide angle lens that captures just about everything, we were eager to put it to work trying to get hard shots like that of our suspension system at work.
Inspired by what they saw in our videos, Powerline Patrol Services decided that a new patrol vehicle based on the Jeep JK Wrangler might be the solution they’ve been looking for.
Located in the Stoddard Valley OHV Area just south of the town of Barstow, CA, the Achy-Breaky is a “difficult” rated Jeep trail that circumvents the base of a small mountain called Watkins Peak.
The Elephant Hill Jeep Trail located down in Canyonlands is by far one of the most beautiful trails you can run in the Moab area. Although it’s rated “difficult”, any stock JK could run it with ease and without any problems.
Like most everything in Moab, Utah, Metal Masher is a beautiful but tough trail that has a lot of really tall ledges to climb and is home to crazy big obstacles with ominous names such as “Rock Chucker” and “Widow Maker”.
At the 2010 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, the members of JK-Forum.com were invited to attend The Rock 7, which is an event that is hosted by Full-Traction Suspension and Superior Axle & Gear over at the world famous Area BFE.
The Seven Mile Rim Jeep Trail is an incredibly scenic and fun trail out in Moab, Utah. Although it is rated “difficult”, most any Jeep JK Wrangler with a small lift and 33″ tires should be able to negotiate this trail with ease especially being that the hardest obstacles can be bypassed.
