Vengeance Conquers the Shitter Bowl
Over the weekend, we were invited to go wheeling with the guys from Chrysler at the annual Hump-n-Bump run in Logandale, Nevada and, while we were there, we decided to check out some of the fun going on over at the Shitter Bowl. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, there’s a trail called “The Shitter” and, one of the optional obstacles on it is a deep bowl that you drop into and work your way back up a steep narrow chute with big off camber waterfalls, all the way to the top. This is an really tough obstacle and one that multiple buggies on 42’s couldn’t do. Others ended up getting pulled out after suffering significat breaks and, at least one rig took a dump while we were there. Now, when Mel started to make his way down with Vengeance, a short little JK on 40’s, I’m sure you can guess what some of the people in the crowd were saying. And, when it became clear that the rear locker wasn’t working about half way up, there were people actually shouting to just back out. As you can guess, Mel was going to have nothing to do with that and, thanks to the amazing stability Vengeance has, he made it all the way out, on his own power, unassisted and, without any body damage. Here are some pics from his epic climb and a video of it is coming soon.
