SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a premature alert of the Oil Change Monitor. This alert is displayed as “CHANgE OIL on the instrument cluster odometer. This condition may be intermittent or may occur after a battery disconnect has occurred. The customer may be
more aware of this condition if the Oil Change Monitor alerts shortly following an oil change.

Do not confuse this condition for an Oil Change Monitor alert due to the Oil Change Monitor not being reset following an oil change.

  1. I own a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2008 pick up date of 2/16/2008. Looking on my paper work I’m not able to find the sales code where might I locate the engine code? to see if my vehicle is included in this Flash: oil Change Moniter Alert Prematurely?

    Thank you

  2. i have a 2007 jeep wrangler and oil change light keeps coming on after i changed the oil. how do i stop this?

  3. this oil change lite system is a real pain I have been using Mobil one synthetic in all my cars, for the engine protection, performance, and not having to change the oil until 7k. But this system will want me to change the oil at 2400 miles. does not take in to affect superior oils.

  4. Ron, I’m not sure if zaragoza’s method works (havent needed to try it yet) but if so, then reset the light yourself and keep a close eye on it. Personally I would suggest keepin it wrote down so you dont accidently reset it one too many times. :/

  5. I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler X 2door and have never had the change oil light come on even after not changing it for some time! The only weird thing that i have noticed is that when i bought the jeep, i wanted a locking Fuel door put on it, when it was put on it was fine for a day or two then, the check engine light came on after that and they said it was the locking fuel cap that was causing it?

  6. My change oil light comes on about every 2500 miles. From my understanding it is supposed to come on at 6000 miles.

  7. My 08 Rubicon light used to come on about 250 miles short– The turn the key on but don’t start and pump the gas pedal 3 times trick worked for me–The technition said it should be good untill the next oil change is due–If your ok with the math and don’t mind the inconveince–it’s an easy fix!
